Two weeks went by in the blink of an eye.

HQ base 322 had not experienced any new changes since Colonel Darkhaven took over.

Kailen however had been planning a lot in the shadows. He made use of his shadow creatures to use poisons and runes to set strategic traps for the enemy. He did this covertly without the knowledge of anyone in the base. This was because he didn't want to take the risk of letting the spies of the vimodial contractors know about it.

If the spies of the vimodial contractors got to know about it, the enemy would be able to take countermeasures against his traps.

The perimeter of the base had been reinforced with an invisible protective rune for the enemy attack he was expecting. Kailen may not have cared about any other person in the base apart from himself and his friends, but he was now the operative in charge of the base, and a disadvantage of this was that he had to be responsible for every life at the base whether he wanted to do it or not.

Suddenly, the alarms of the base flared.

After that, a cataclysmic sound resounded everywhere.

It was as if the base shook, but it held.

The operatives moved with coordinated strategy, their roles assigned by their unit heads, who were directly receiving strategic orders at the moment from Colonel Darkhaven calmly floating in the air above the base.

Artilleries fortified with runes to amplify their attacks were manned immediately across several regions of the base, ready to be deployed into action.

What shocked the operatives was the fact that the energy attacks launched by the approaching ships of vimodialial contractors towards the base had been nullified.

It was as if some sort of transparent barrier was covering the base.

So the Colonel had not been idle these two weeks huh.

Under the gazes of the base operatives and the sharp gazes of the vimodial contractors in the fleet of spaceships outside the base, the transparent barrier covering the base seemed to vibrate slightly. After that, the barrier gave some sort of eerie glow.

After this, a wave of energy swept out of the transparent runic barrier covering the base.

The wave of energy was headed towards the approaching vimodial contractor ships.

When the wave of energy came into contact, several of the ships exploded. Sense numbing explosions rung everywhere.

Fred was shocked.

He widened his only remaining eye, the only one left as a result of the punishment he received for failing the mission the last time.

His gaze turned icy as he locked eyes with Kailen Darkhaven.

Kailen Darkhaven, calmly standing in the air above HQ base 322, smirked lightly, as a ruthless glint flashed through his eyes.

"Launch," Kailen commanded.

The units from all across the base were each manning the artillery.

They launched the artillery towards the approaching vimodial contractors.

Runic explosions, poisons of several kinds, runic weapons amongst others, shot out of the artillery towards the enemy.

Strangely, the attacks launched managed to pass through the transparent barrier, and headed towards the enemy.

But the enemy attacks could not penetrate the protective rune of the base.

The attacks of the vimodial contractors returned to them as energy waves, more amplified in power compared to the one they launched.

Several vimodial contractors in fleets of ships were blown up.

The scene resembled fireworks in the night sky.

Coupled with the artillery, affinity attacks from the base operatives swallowed a number of enemies too.

All this had taken a while to describe, but it had occurred in a few moments.

Also, several vimodial contractors fell prey to certain poisons coated with invisibility runes and stationed outside the base as they approached the transparent barrier of the base.

Several fell prey to illusion runes amongst others, creating openings that made it easy for the artillery attacks to kill them easily.

Fred revealed a determined expression.

He was determined to kill Kailen Darkhaven.

Thanks to this bastard, one of his eyes had been taken out.

"Intermediate stage galactic level comrades, attack the runic shield."

The intent was clear.

The runic shield could not be broken by beginner stage galactic level attacks, what of intermediate stage galactic level attacks?

The moment Fred spoke, Kailen sent a thought transmission to all the captains and majors, Jackson included.

"Hold the base."

"Sir."

Everyone replied in unison.

He moved.

He used a teleportation rune.

He appeared right in front of Fred, outside the boundary of the runic shield.

All the elemental energies and affinities blended around him in perfect synergy.

He had activated his Asura Enlightenment Physique, and his shadow armored form with all his shadow creatures.

Fred's eyes widened the moment Kailen appeared before him.

A sense of crisis loomed around him.

Lightning flickered around his figure, and a colossal lightning mountain immediately appeared, blotting out the night sky.

At the same time, Kailen was calm.

He didn't talk.

He simply clenched his fists.

He did not prepare a flashy attack.

The colossal lightning mountain shot towards Kailen.

Kailen remained standing in the air, calm.

He looked like a tiny ant before the collosal mountain, crimson hair billowing in the night.

The fist that looked like a pebble crashed into the lightning mountain.

Silence ensued for a moment.

Then the lightning mountain seemed to be distorted.

Then, the lightning mountain simply disappeared.

No sound.

No cataclysmic shockwave.

Just, simple disappearance.

Fred did not even have time to process what had just happened.

The backlash of his failed strongest attack caused blood to seep around the corners of his mouth.

It was at this moment that he saw a crimson skinned figure with a crimson horn on his forehead and a cold malevolent expression on his crimson face appear before his line of vision.

Suddenly, his vision was turning dark.

He didn't know why.

He felt extreme pain in the lower half of his body.

Then, he couldn't feel his lower body anymore.

"Am I dying?" Fred thought.

He was a rank 7 intermediate stage galactic level lifeform.

How had rank 6 beginner stage galactic level lifeform defeated him? and killed him?

This bastard who had obstructed his mission the last time.

Thanks to Kailen Darkhaven, he even received the punishment of losing his eye.

Worst of all, his wife had been killed by the higher ups for his failure.

Then he felt a hand hold his head.

The hand squeezed his head.

Fred knew he was done for.

The pain was excruciating.

It lasted for a moment, but it was as if it had lasted for eternity.

Finally his his vision blanketed completely.

The onlookers observed as the head of the rank 7 intermediate stage galactic level vimodial contractor was completely crushed into meat paste.

Everything seemed to have happened in an extremely short moment.

Kailen Darkhaven had made killing the powerhouse vimodial contractor look so simple.

But everyone knew it looked that way because he was simply too strong.

Before several thoughts could linger further on what Kailen Darkhaven had just done, his figure flashed towards the intermediate stage galactic level vimodial contractors.

The captains and majors of the base had managed to hold them back for a while from breaking the shield.

However, at the moment, runic shield was coming down.

Suddenly, something strange happened.

A red silhouette flashed across them.

Dying screams reverberated across the skies.

Heads flew, innards spilled across, and blood painted the night skies.

Some did not even scream before they died.

They did not even get to know what killed them. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Very soon, a figure stood alone in the skies.

His crimson figure bathed in the blood of the fallen vimodial contractors.

The littered corpses of vimodial contractors were littered across the whole place.

The operatives at the base observed in shock at what Colonel Darkhaven had just pulled off, and the fact that not a single operative from HQ base 322 had died or had even been wounded. The base still stood, untouched.

Also, the vimodial contractor commander that caused grievious casualties to HQ base 323 several months ago had been killed by the Colonel in an overwhelming manner.

At that time, Kailen Darkhaven was not on the level of the enemy commander, although he had played an extremely crucial role in the outcome of things at HQ base 323. Colonel Floyd Harker had managed to fight the enemy commander to a draw. But, in the time of a few a months, Colonel Darkhaven had become strong enough and slaughtered this same enemy commander in an overwhelming manner. The sight was extremely surreal, emotional , and left many with their blood pumping.

Colonel Darkhaven's tactical leadership, his ingenious resourcefulness and extreme powerful combat capabilities had led to this outcome. He had completely overwhelmed the enemy.

Kailen's gaze fell on several operatives.

The moment they saw him, a chill ran across their spines.

They were the spies of the vimodial contractors.

They wanted to self detonate.

However, they felt something encroach their consciousness.

After this, they fell down and died.

Kailen had killed them with his spiritual power.

The operatives were not fools.

They could infer two things from what had happened.

The 50 operatives who had just died were vimodial contractors.

They were spies.

Also, the reason why for the last two weeks the actions of the Colonel had been covert without any one at the base knowing of it was because he didn't want to risk intelligence of his plans reaching the spies and ultimately the enemy.

That way, the enemy would not develop a counter attack.

The Colonel was always several steps ahead.

Everyone was in awe.

As for Kailen's loved ones, they expected this outcome.

They had long accepted that this fellow could not be judged with common sense.

However, they were very proud of him for his accomplishments.

Also, each one of them were geniuses in their own right, but Kailen was someone who made them reassess themselves over and over again, pushing them to grow stronger.

"Who is the tactician here?" Lawrence couldn't help but sigh and chuckle.

As a tactician himself, he knew that he had been bested.

He had accepted that his nephew was in a different league compared to himself but, seeing Kailen demonstrate tactical prowess in person gave a different feeling.

He was really proud of his nephew.

His mother would be proud of him as well.

Several thoughts of admiration flashed through the minds of Kailen's friends.

As expected, this guy would shine wherever he goes.

Even though he didn't do anything for attention and acceptance.

Naturally, Kailen's thoughts were elsewhere.

He sent a thought transmission to Jackson.

"Uncle, I need your help on something"
