[Feat Achieved: Protector of Cattles]

[Protector of Cattles: As a vampire, human are your main source of nutrients, yet you protected them out of genuine concerns for the weaker beings. As result you unlock a new Lore Ability]

[Congratulations you receive the Lore Ability <Mother of Barriers>]

[Mother of Barriers: This Lore Ability is a defensive powerhouse with two distinct and formidable powers. The first, Endure, amplifies the strength of any barrier by a staggering 100,000 times, rendering it virtually impenetrable. The second, Fortress, activates passively when the user stands still, granting complete immunity to all attacks]

Moca's eyes widened as a voice echoed in her in the back of her mind, revealing the nature of her newfound power.

She muttered to herself, her voice low and thoughtful.

'It makes sense. Blocking that attack was easily one of the greatest feat of my life. A literal spell from a magic type that came from a Great Spirit came hurtling toward us. If I hadn't reacted as fast as I did, we would all be dead.'

She paused, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.

Her vampiric pride most definitely act up in this moment.

'Still...Losdeus must be feeling generous to gift me a power like this. I am not complaining...a defense this strong will take me far, still I wasn't expecting to get a power this effective in it's purpose.'

But before she could dwell further on her thoughts, another voice cut through, this time not in her mind, but behind her, sharp and exasperated, coming from the cabin's doorway.

"What the hell was that, woman?!"

It was Kael, his tone filled with worry and irritation, as if the world had personally wronged him.

"What just obliterated my barrier?"

He demanded, his voice rising with urgency.

Moca shrugged, unfazed, and gestured toward the horizon.

"Take a look for yourself."

She bluntly said, seeing was believing after all.

"You've got the best eyes here, right? You can track energy signatures and see in the dark like a drone from what I heard, just take a look and see the shit that heading towards us."

Kael's gaze snapped forward, his eyes narrowing like a predator in the night.

They functioned like an advanced telescope, zooming in miles ahead in the direction Moca pointed.

He control the line of sight remotely. Following the trail of destruction left by the attack made it easy to follow the energy's path.

And then he saw it, for himself for the first time.

A massive army of cryokinetic slugs slithered across the landscape, their sizes ranging from small, writhing creatures to behemoths so enormous they could outclass even the largest buildings.

Leading them was a humanoid slug, its form radiating an eerie authority. Kael's jaw tightened at the sight, as such he didn't need to ask any more questions.

"This… isn't good... This isn't good at all."

He bluntly said, his voice low and grim.

"They're closing in fast. We can't fight an army like that. Our best move is to retreat...Like now."

Moca nodded, her expression hardening.

"Agreed... If we stay, it the same as commiting suicide, there is just no way we can take on that many."

Moca said out aloud, still if this wasn't the Human World, and an exam nonetheless.

She could probably destroy all of them, with her shadows, but if she enter her true form, it like giving away her true identity.

These noble fucks definitely hunt her down, if they find out she is of the Monster Race like Adam.

And despite Kael usual arrogance, at this very moment his confidence wavered in the face of such overwhelming numbers.

As such he turned toward the cabin, his voice urgent.

"Let's informed Rex and wake the others. We can't stay here any longer, or we're dead."

"Yeah."

Moca replied, her tone clipped as she moved to follow him.

But as they reached the cabin doors, a figure blocked their path. A man stood before them, his face obscured by the deep hood of a cloak. The air around him felt rather threatening for some reason.

Moca's instincts kicked in, and she spat.

Familiar his choice of clothing.

"Wait, isn't he one of those cultist bastards?"

Kael's eyes narrowed as the pieces fell into place.

"Yeah, your right but what is this assho...

Bis word cut short, as he put one and two together.

"I see, so that what it is... Tshhh! Moca, we might have walked right into a trap."

The cloaked man said nothing at first, his silence unnerving. Then, his head tilted slightly, and he spoke, his voice dripping with a uncanny and sinister calm.

"You two will make fine sacrifices. Now, let us begin the ritual, sha....

CRACK!

Before he could finish, Moca moved like a lightning bolt. In an instant, she was behind him, her hands gripping his head.

With a brutal twist, she snapped his neck. The cultist crumpled to his knees, lifeless as a result.

"As if we would let you do anything, you psychotic freak."

Moca growled.

THUD!!

The cultist's body hit the ground, face-first. A weak, gurgling voice escaped his lips.

"Gl… ory be to Mot...

SQUELCH!!

Moca didn't let him finish. Her boot came down hard, crushing his skull like an overripe fruit.

Blood and brain matter splattered beneath her foot, and the cultist went silent, dead in an instant.

"That's that."

She said, wiping her boot on the ground with a grimace, the disgust on her face imminent.

But Kael's voice cut through the moment, sharp and urgent.

"Moca, we're not alone."

"I can see that."

She replied, her eyes scanning the surroundings.

From the darkness of the cold forest, more cloaked figures emerged, moving like a swarm of ants answering a distress call.

They poured from the shadows, their numbers growing as they surrounded the cabin in eerie silence.

Seeing this, he commented.

"They already have use surrounded."

"I can see that."

Moca said.

Meanwhile as the cultists closed in, their cloaks blending into the shadows of the frost-covered trees, their movements eerily synchronized.

The air grew thick with hardening anticipation, a palpable sense pressing against Moca's senses.

Her vampiric instincts screamed danger, but she forced herself to stay calm, her crimson eyes glinting with defiance.

Beside her, Kael's hands twitched, energy crackling faintly around his fingers as he gripped the hilts of his twin daggers.

"I don't know about you, but I am not dying here."

Kael response to this was simple.

"You take the left, I'll handle the right. We carve through these freaks and get to Rex before they box us in."

Moca gave a curt nod.

"Fine... But don't slow me down."

"You take me as if I am one of these weaklings."

His fingers flexed, and a ripple of raw, cosmic energy surged around him, distorting the air like a heatwave.

"Let's make this quick."

Without another word, Moca vanished into a blur of shadow, her form dissolving into the darkness.

She reappeared atop the cabin's roof, her boots landing silently as she surveyed the approaching cultists.

Her hands glowed faintly with became searing red as she uses heat magic, forming a magic circle, the air around her shimmering with rising with blazing heat.

She extended her fingers, and tendrils of shadow lashed out like whips, coiling around two cultists who barely had time to react. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

With her aim precise, she ignited the shadows with a burst of heat, turning them into blazing chains that incinerated the cloaked figures in seconds.

Their screams were brief, swallowed by the crackle of flames.

Below, Kael moved like a storm.

He spun his daggers, each motion precise and deadly, as he channeled the alot of absorbed energy cosmic energy into his blades.

The blade flared brighter, and with a single slash, he unleashed a crescent of radiant energy that sliced through three cultists, their bodies collapsing in a spray of blood and severed cloth.

The energy lingered in the air, humming with raw power, as Kael darted forward, his movements almost too fast to track.

Another cultist lunged at him, brandishing a jagged knife, but Kael sidestepped effortlessly, driving his dagger into the mans chest.

A pulse of energy erupted from the blade, disintegrating the cultist from the inside out.

"Moca!"

Kael shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

"They"re trying to flank us from the rear!"

Moca's eyes snapped to the back of the cabin, where more cultists emerged from the trees, their hands glowing with sickly green runes.

"Got it!"

She raised her hand, and the air around her grew heavy as she began to use Gravity Magic, coding the spirit language into being.

The ground beneath the advancing cultists buckled, their bodies slamming to the earth as if an invisible anvil had dropped on them.

Bones cracked under the pressure, and Moca didn't hesitate. She leaped from the roof, shadows trailing her like a cloak, and landed in the midst of the pinned cultists.

Using Heat Magic once more, a wave of scorching flames engulfed them as it fired from the magic circle like a flamethrower, reducing their cloaks and flesh to ash.

Kael, meanwhile, was a whirlwind of destruction.

He manipulated the ambient energy around him, bending light and sound to disorient his enemies.

A group of cultists charged him, chanting in a guttural tongue, clearly using some kind of "Archane" but Kael raised a hand, and the air vibrated with a low hum.

The sound intensified, becoming a deafening shockwave that shattered their eardrums and sent them staggering.

He didn't give them a chance to recover. His daggers flashed, and arcs of energy tore through the group, leaving nothing but smoking corpses in their wake.

But even then more cultist keep piling up.
