Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 161: Murderous tendency
"Where is she?" Lake asked Andrew.
Audrey slowly stepped aside; she felt her heart hurt when she saw the concern on Lake’s face for Melody.
There might be something between them, after all.
"Hey, I’m sorry, I have to rush over to the hospital..." Lake paused and stared longingly at Audrey.
"I’ll come with," Audrey announced, surprising Lake and Andrew.
"You would?" Lake knew there was some unspoken tension between the two women so he wasn’t expecting Audrey to effortlessly
ask to come visit Melody in a hospital.
"Yes, come on, Mikhail, we’re going to see Melody. Lead the way, Alpha," Audrey smiled at Lake and took Mikhail’s hand, leading him away and toward their car.
"Alpha..." Andrew called cautiously.
Lake slowly blinked away from staring at Audrey and turned to Andrew. He wanted to ask something but decided against it, it would just sound too ridiculous.
"You’ll take my car, I’m riding witNoter," Lake; neverhis key to Andrew and walked toward Audrey and Mikhail.
"Ah, sure," Andrew stared at the key in his hand and sighed.
Being a third wheel wasn’t an easy job.
He shook his head and followed them out of the park, heading toward Lake’s car.
"Get in," Audrey opened the door for Mikhail and helped him in.
She leaned in and fixed his seat belt before shutting the door and walking over to the driver’s seat.
She was just about to start her car when the passenger’s door opened, and Lake entered the car.
Audrey paused in surprise and turned to him, staring at home with questioning eyes.
"Drive," Lake ordered.
Mikhail was busy staring at the two adults in front, not sure what was going on.
"What are you doing here?" Audrey questioned with a confused frown.
Lake sighed and fixed his belt, "Come on, we need to get to Melody; I need to know what’s wrong with her," Lake informed.
Audrey scoffed, "If you were that worried about her then you should have gone with your car," She shrugged, tapping her fingers on her steering.
"Audrey, please, just move the car already; she might be dying," Lake pleaded.
Audrey clenched her fists, ’You’re really worried about her, huh?’ She mentally roed her eyes.
She remained quiet and started the car, driving behind Andrew who was driving Lake’s car.
"You know, I’m sure she’s fine, she didn’t really look injured in the picture," Audrey commented as she drove.
"You don’t know that, we haven’t seen her yet," Lake replied, sighing.
"Also, she’s a wolf, so healing I’d already in progress, right?" Audrey smiled at him.
Lake slowly nodded, "I guess so," He said.
Audrey gritted her teeth and went quiet. She didn’t want to, but she had to console him. She didn’t like seeing him worried for nothing, especially for someone who had probably gotten herself in an accident just so she could get Lake’s attention. It wasn’t worth it.
They soon arrived at a hospital, and Lake was the first to get out of the car and rush into the hospital.
Audrey watched with a heavy heart as Lake looked all worried for another woman.
She got out of the car and went to open the door for Mikhail.
"Come on, honey, let’s go," She carried him out of the car and started walking toward the entrance.
"Moma," Mikhail called.
"Yes, baby?" Audrey answered as she walked through the door.
Lake and Andrew had gone in before her but she could easily locate them through their scents.
"Why are we here?" Mikhail questioned, looking around the hospital.
A few nurses were passing by, and a few patients were sitting in the waiting area. Mikhail didn’t like a hospital; he hated getting shut down by doctors.
But somehow, Audrey could sense that Mikhail’s discomfort wasn’t about the hospital.
She carried him carefully as she climbed the stairs, still following Lake’s scent.
"We’re here to see Melody, Lake’s friend, she’d got into an accident," Audrey explained.
Mikhail was quiet for a while, "But she doesn’t like us..."
Audrey smiled, her son was too expressive sometimes.
"That’s true, baby, but sometimes, it’s not good to pay evil with-"
"It is Moma, it’s called Karma. She got her Karma for trying to steal Lake from us," Mikhail pouted.
Audrey was shocked at her son’s words, she didn’t know Mikhail was that attentive to read someone’s countenance.
"Baby, you don’t have to say that out loud," Audrey said quietly as she appeared in the room Lake had entered.
Mikhail shook his head, "No, Moma, I don’t like it when someone hurts you; we don’t have to be here; you’re not comfortable with it; let’s leave," Mikhail hugged Audrey’s neck tightly as if it’d stop walking toward the room.
"It’s okay, baby, as long as Lake is happy with her. Lake is your friend, right?" She asked, pausing in front of the door.
Mikhail shook his head, "My Father, Moma, don’t forget that," he corrected.
"Right, your father. So you have to be supportive of him and whoever he’s with, okay?" She asked.
She was wondering how Mikhail came to know that Melody had ill intentions toward her; she never showed it in front of people; could he have overheard her discussing it with her mother?
That could be it.
Mikhail sighed.
"I don’t just like her, Moma," He kissed Audrey’s cheek and then proceeded to whisper in her ear.
"It should be you and Dad, just it was in the past, right?" He held her face with his hands and smiled at her.
Audrey almost dropped him from the shock she got from his words. She stared at him as if she was seeing him for the first time.
"What-"
"Oh, you’re here..." Andrew suddenly opened the door and saw Audrey, interrupting what she was about to ask Mikhail.
"Right..." She slowly removed her eyes from Mikhail, who was smiling innocently at her.
"Are you leaving?" Audrey asked Andrew.
He shook his head and sighed. "She said she needs ice cream; it helps her ease pain," Andrew shrugged.
"That’s a lie," Mikhail whispered to his mother.
"What?" Andrew raised his brows.
"Nothing, we’ll be inside," Audrey smiled at Andrew and walked past him, pushing open the door of the hospital room.
Inside the room, Audrey walked in and was greeted with the sight of Melody clinging to Lake’s arms as she sat up in bed.
Wasn’t she supposed to be injured?
"Oh, Alpha, Audrey came too?" Melody asked, leaning her head against Lake’s shoulder.
"Yes, she’s concerned for you," Lake replied, patting Melody’s hand.
Audrey sighed and looked away from them; she had purposely come here knowing she would get hurt.
She needed to get hurt, to feed herself with their sweet interaction until she became numb to it; that way, she would become immune to them and could happily exist around them.
"How are you feeling, Melody?" Audrey asked.
"I’m getting better now that my baby is here with me, right baby?" Melody asked, smiling sweetly at Lake.
Mikhail suddenly started to wriggle down Audrey’s arms. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Hey, Mikha, where are you going?" Audrey asked as she lowered him to the ground, she knew he wouldn’t stay put if she held onto him.
Mikhail smiled, happy the moment his feet touched the ground; he turned and walked over to Lake, fixing himself between Lake and Melody.
"I thought adults were supposed to be intelligent, Dad?" Mikhail replaced Melody’s position by hugging Lake’s arms.
Melody was caring at him, but she fixed her expression immediately; she would look bad in front of Lake if he caught her glaring at a child.
"Yes, Mikhail, most adults are intelligent," Lake replied, looking over at Audrey in question.
Audrey shook her head, she didn’t know what Mikhail was getting at either.
"Oh...that explains it, Dad. ’Most’ adults, that means she’s not included right?" He pointed backward to Melody with his thumb while looking up innocently at Lake.
"What?" Melody gasped, scowling g at Audrey.
Audrey simply shrugged, hiding back her laughter.
Lake took a second to understand what Mikhail said, and surprisingly, he smiled at him which made Melody want to strangle the boy.
"Wny fo you think so?" He asked him gently.
"Alpha, he’s just insulted me and you’re both going to do anything about-"
"He’s just a boy, Melody. Don’t beat yourself up; as long as you believe that you’re intelligent, it’s all that matters; believe in yourself," Audrey consoled.
"No, Moma, her beliefs don’t matter; if she were intelligent, she wouldn’t have called a grown Alpha like Dad, her baby. My teacher says that people who claim what’s not theirs are delusional. Are you delusional, Melody?" Mikhail turned his head to her, blinking his eyes.
"Who thought you to speak this way?" Lake asked curiously, staring at Audrey.
"It’s not mummy; I’m just smarter than my age; my teacher told me so," Mikhail replied.
Lake lifted the boy to his lap and was about to say something when Melody suddenly gasped and cried out painfully.
"Melody!" Lake snapped his head toward
Melody and gently asked her, "What’s the matter?"
Melody suddenly started to shed silent tears. "It hurts, Alpha, it hurts right here," She pointed behind her waist.
She couldn’t stand being overthrown by a toddler, she so hated Audrey and everything that came from her.
Lake gently placed Mikhail on the floor and stood, walking over to Melody and placing his hands on her shoulder.
"Come on, lay down on the bed," He gently helped her down on the bed.
Melody was secretly smirking at Audrey as Lake helped her lie on the bed.
She was feeling victorious that she had succeeded in getting his attention back to her.
"Where does it hurt?" Lake questioned.
Melody lifted her shirt and pointed to her bruised back, wincing painfully.
She thought Lake was about to check on her waist, but she was disappointed.
"Huh, Alpah, where are you going?" Melody frowned when he saw Lake walking toward the door.
"I’m getting the doctor, your bruise looks like you’ve got internal bleeding," He said and opened the door.
"But-"
"Don’t worry, I’ll be right back," He said and left.
"Are you tired?" Audrey questioned.
"Take your bastard son and get the fuck out - Argh!" Melody screamed painfully as her eyes became scared, and she stared at Audrey, who suddenly appeared in front of her and pressed down on her bruise.
"Turn away and close your ears, Sweetheart," Audrey said to Mikhail in a sweet voice.
Mikhail obeyed.
"Alright, Princess, listen up. I’ve past this stage a long time ago, and I promise you I’ll fucking kill you if I have to., There are ,only two things that’ll trigger my murder tendencies: One, my son, two, my son," Audrey chuckled darkly, her hand still pressing hard on Melody’s bruise behind her waist.
Melody bit down on her lips, her heart racing in fear, she never thought Audrey could be this fierce, "Let go-"
"Shh, Shh, Shh...I’m not done..." She placed a finger on Melody’s lips.
"I’ll forgive you this time, but I dare you to speak I’ll of my son again; I’ll tear you open with my claws, princess; it’s a promise I’m looking forward to fulfiling," Audrey let her wolf shine through her eyes, suppressing Melody with her Alpha command.
The door suddenly opened and Melody saw it as a clue to scream for help.
"Alpha! Help me, she’s hurting me!" She cired out, pushing Audrey away from her.
"Audrey?" Lake called, frowning at her.
The doctor that walked in with Lake frowned at Audrey too. "Ms. I’m sorry, I’ll have to ask you to leave, it’s not acceptable to hurt a patient," The doctor informed.
Audrey sighed, "I did nothing to her, I was just helping her lay down," She shrugged.
"She’s lying, she was pressing my..." Melody’s eyes widened like saucers as she stared at where her bruise was supposed to be but found nothing.
"My bruise...it’s gone," She said in a shaky voice, staring at Audrey.
