Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 151: No feelings for you
Lake was staring at Audrey with serious eyes.
Audrey slowly took a step back, "I’m sure you didn’t mean what you just said, ah! I see what you’re doing, you want to test me if I’m professional enough to do business with you. Don’t worry, I don’t have eyes for you; how about we talk about the business after lunch, please, come have a sit," Audrey replied in a hurry; she couldn’t act as if she took his words seriously; it would be bringing problems for herself.
Why did he even ask her that? It was obvious he felt nothing for her, or, was his instinct telling him to claim her?
Lake stared at Audrey, who was slowly backing away from him and entering the living room, quickly running up the stairs until she disappeared from his view.
He stood there for a second, watching her. His wolf had gone quiet the moment he asked Audrey to be his girlfriend as if he was nervous, and when Audrey played his words off, Regal whimpered for the second time and completely disappeared.
He put his hands inside his pocket and frowned. It’s not been up to the day since he got to Paris, yet he’d experienced two weeks of complex emotions.
He sighed quietly, walking out of the kitchen. He knew there was something about this woman, it can’t just be a coincidence meeting her here, the wine, the name of her company, and most importantly, this weird feeling he felt each time he set his eyes on her.
He knew they meant something, and he would make sure to uncover it all before returning to his Pack.
For five years, he’d never felt attracted to any woman; this sudden surge of attraction he was feeling for Audrey didn’t seem natural to him.
Wait, was it possible for her to have used her witchy powers on her to get him attracted to him just because she didn’t want him charging her for copying her products?
He shook his head, dismissing that thought, it can’t be right. Because it would mean she had done the same thing with him and her son, but it was different.
What he felt for the boy came within his soul, and he could easily feel the boy’s pure likeness for him.
So, he believed she hadn’t charmed him, but as he stayed longer beside her, he felt himself growing alarmingly possessive toward her, and it kind of scared him. He didn’t want to make the poor woman uncomfortable. As she had said, what she chose to do with her body was absolutely none of his business, but, he still felt as if she was accountable to him.
Maybe he should visit a psychologist here in Paris. He would have gone to his personal psychologist back at home; he was more comfortable with him, but he couldn’t wait till he returned; he felt his symptoms were getting worse.
Be had sought a psychologist when he couldn’t bring himself to be productive for three whole months when he woke up five years ago. He had felt empty, hollow, and abandoned; he hated everyone, and lost his temper, especially with women.
After trying to see if he could go back to his normal self, he ended up losing his temper with the Pack’s witch, and he had no idea how she came to stay in his pack.
"You better stay away from her, Mr," Leon said quietly to Lake, who was standing because of the fireplace.
He had seen him walk out of the kitchen and immediately went to him, wanting to claim his territory.
Lake slowly looked up, dragging his mind away from his thoughts. He saw Leon and sighed.
"You’re the least of my problems, boy," He patted Leon’s shoulder and walked over to the sofa to sit down.
Leon was outraged, he glared at Lake, feeling belittled by his reply.
He was about to walk toward him again when Mikhail’s door opened and the boy ran out, running straight to Lake.
He felt uncomfortable. Mikhail never missed playing with him each time he came around, but now, he had forgotten about him.
"Lake, look, This is my favorite toy!" Mikhail jumped and sat beside Lake, holding up his furry toy to him.
Lake saw the toy the boy was holding up to him and froze. "Can I hold it?" He asked.
Mikhail nodded, excited, placing the toy in Lake’s hand.
"Here, you can turn it on here," Mikhail showed him a small switch beneath the toy.
"Alright, buddy, let me have a look," Lake raised the black furry wild toy to his face, he couldn’t help but feel that whoever designed this wolf toy was trying to imitate Regal’s look.
Yes, there were a lot of black wolves around the world, but when you see something that is related to you, you’d know in a second even when there were a thousand of them.
He turned the belly of the wolf, and just beside the switch the boy had shown him, he saw a little negligible word written; ALPHA.
This whole thing couldn’t be a coincidence, right?
"Lake? Are you going to turn it on?" Mikhail questioned as he saw that Lake wasn’t moving to turn on the switch.
"Oh, I’m sorry, I just think your wolf looks very brave," He told Mikhail and switched on the wolf.
An audible growl was heard from within the wolf, its jaws moving, tail wagging, and eyes producing a red light.
"Wow, it growls so bravely, too," Lake placed the wolf on the floor and watched it move cutely around the living room.
"Yes, I want to be a brave wolf when I grow up, too," Mikhail replied, but he wasn’t looking at the toy wolf, he was looking intently at Lake.
"Lake," He called quietly.
"Yes," Lake answered, facing the boy.
"Can I take a picture with you, I want to show my friends at school that I have a handsome friend, please?" Mikhail asked.
Lake chuckled, "Sure, my pleasure," He stretched his hand for the boy to give him his phone but Mikhail shook his head.
"Oh, it’s not my screen time yet, come on, let’s go. I asked mummy if she could lend us her phone," Mikhail jumped down from the sofa, dragging Lake’s arm with him.
"Hey, hey," Lake gently held the boy back from climbing up the stairs.
"You don’t want to take a picture with me anymore?" Mikhail’s lips wobbled, his eyes becoming misty with unshed tears.
Lake saw this and panicked, he immediately shook his head at the boy, "No, no, that’s not it, I just wanted to wait for-"
"Then let’s go," Mikhail didn’t let him finish and quickly dragged him up the stairs.
Behind them, Leon saw what was happening and was about to stop them, but he felt someone hold him back.
"Leon, I didn’t know you were around, come, help me prepare food," Isabella smiled up at him, dragging him to the kitchen.
Leon looked back, seeing Mikhail speedily dragging Lake up the stairs. He gave up, he couldn’t refuse Isabella. He’s never refused her.
He only hoped Ahdrey wouldn’t let that strange man into her room, even though he hadn’t entered her room before, so why should he be the first to go in there?
Audrey had just finished having a quick shower, she was rushing to get down and see how Leon was behaving with Lake. She only hoped they’d not torn down her house by the time she went down.
She had her white robe on, standing in front of her bedside table and staring at Lake’s picture.
"Just this morning, I had wished you were here with me, and now that I suddenly have you in my house, I don’t know what to do," She sighed and picked the frame up, "I’m sorry I can’t let you know about our past, I can’t fill that void for you, I really miss you, but I’m sorry, I have to push you away," She whispered to the picture, kissing it.
Suddenly, she felt her door unlocking, and only one person could unlock her door that way, her son.
She quickly turned and hid the picture inside the drawer. She had never let her son see this picture for incidents like today. If she had let him see it, he would have told Lake about it the moment he saw him, exposing her.
She turned and faced the door, smiling as the door opened, but, the moment she saw the person who had entered her room, she froze.
"He says he wants to ask you for a favor," Mikhail spoke behind the door and closed it, running off.
Lake stood there, confused, the boy had betrayed him. He had thought he’d be the one waiting outside while the boy spoke with his mother, but it turns out he was a mischievous little kid.
Now, how was he going to explain to this beautiful woman before him that the whole thing wasn’t his idea as the kid made it look?
Audrey came out of her shock and cleared he throat, "Um, what can I do for you, Mr. Aloha?" She asked, trying to sound normal and not make him feel awkward.
Lake put a hand in his pocket, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment.
"Well, you see, this wasn’t my idea, I-"
Audrey chuckled, "I know, Mr. Aloha. I know my son; it’s either he wanted his iPad or something else," Audrey walked over to her dressing mirror, pulling out the drawer.
"Right, yes, He wanted that..." Lake replied, looking around the room.
"Sorry for the inconvenience," Audrey handed him the white iPad.
"Uh, yeah..." he took it from her, but instead of turning and walking away, he moved closer to her.
Audrey instinctively stepped back, "Um, Mr. Aloha, you’ve got the iPad. Can you leave my room now?" She asked cautiously.
Lake paused; he looked around the room and couldn’t help but feel as if Audrey was really hiding something; there was no single picture in there, not even a painting; she was too private for a woman of her status.
"What are you hiding?" He questioned as he cornered her beside her dressing table.
Audrey froze for a second. ’Had he seen his picture?’ It can’t be, she hid it before he came in.
"Nothing, please leave," Audrey replied, placing her hands up between them.
"I want to know why," Lake stared into her eyes in confusion.
Audrey was feeling hot; she begged Avery to behave herself, and his presence was sending her into a frenzy.
"Know what?" She asked, looking into his grey eyes.
Oh, how she wanted to slam her lips into his...
"I want to know why I’m feeling attracted toward you even when I’m sure I have no feelings for you," Lake replied, but it was almost as if he was saying it to himself.
Audrey almost choked at his answer; no, he shouldn’t be feeling attracted; this was wrong!
"A-and how do you want to prove you don’t have feelings for me?" Audrey asked, her breath turning deeper as he slowly walked closer, covering the space between them.
"Like this," Before Audrey could realize what he meant, he leaned his face into hers and gently placed his lips on hers.
