Has Big Shot Fallen in Love Today?-Chapter 911: The Answer
In the following days, Sheng Tang didn’t want to talk to William.
It wasn’t until William told her there was another route for morning runs, and he promised to run with her and keep out of trouble, that Sheng Tang reconciled with him.
Wang Chuiyang commented, "You two argue like kindergarten kids and need several rounds to make up."
Sheng Tang: "..."
The monks from the temple didn’t come looking again. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Sheng Tang didn’t know whether they had found the answer themselves or decided to ignore the Zen parable.
William, however, was very interested.
Sheng Tang’s "great deeds" had spread throughout the film crew, and they all said she was very clever.
Even the director was curious about the Zen parable: "Is it the wind moving, or the flag moving?"
Sheng Tang purposely kept them guessing.
"Zen parables need to be comprehended personally," Sheng Tang said. "It’s like philosophy; everyone has their perspective, and there’s no standard answer."
"So, what’s your standard answer?" the director asked shrewdly.
Sheng Tang wouldn’t tell him.
"Tell you what, if you can refrain from mocking me, I’ll tell you after we wrap up," Sheng Tang said with a mysterious smile to the director.
Director: "..."
If he had even a little more ambition, he wouldn’t need to ask Sheng Tang. But, like William, he was extremely intrigued, restless to find an explanation.
By early January, it snowed in the mountains.
It became even colder.
Sheng Tang opened the small suitcase Gu Shiting had given her, which had over two hundred warming patches.
These practically saved Sheng Tang and Ai’ai’s lives.
They had to stick several patches on every day before they dared to leave their room.
There was no heating or air-conditioning in the room, and the temple just provided them with an extra quilt.
"Sister Tang, let’s not take such tough outdoor shoots in the future," Ai’ai complained. "My face is getting chapped by the wind."
Sheng Tang thought it was fine.
This level of outdoor filming wasn’t considered tough at all.
If you want to talk about tough, you should try the desert.
"This isn’t up to us," Sheng Tang laughed. "It depends on the crew’s arrangements."
The wind in the mountains was fierce, making it especially cold.
Quite a few people caught a cold.
Even in such cold weather, Sheng Tang still got up early for morning runs with William; both had good health.
When the director, Wang Chuiyang, and even their assistants were sick, William and Sheng Tang were among the few healthy ones in the crew.
Minor injuries weren’t an excuse to leave the set, and even with a cold, they still continued shooting scenes.
By late January, they finally finished shooting all the outdoor scenes. Despite the severe weather, the scenery turned out unexpectedly beautiful, making the director very satisfied.
The day before they packed up to leave the mountain, an old monk from the temple came to visit them.
He was polite and brought Sheng Tang a string of sandalwood Buddha Beads and two peace charms.
"Is it the wind moving or the flag moving?" the old monk asked Sheng Tang.
This question had puzzled him for a long time as well.
Sheng Tang quoted Master Huineng’s original words to him: "Neither the wind nor the flag moves; it is your mind that moves."
The old monk was taken aback, then praised Sheng Tang for her wisdom.
"This isn’t my saying; I heard it from a monk named Huineng," Sheng Tang said with a smile.
The old monk was very eager to visit this Huineng.
He would have to traverse time and space to reach the Tang Dynasty, or it wouldn’t be possible.
Sheng Tang apologized, telling him she hadn’t met Master Huineng again since.
This answer was overheard by the director as well.
"A weight has finally lifted from my heart," the director laughed. "I’ve been pondering this phrase every day lately."
Sheng Tang: "..."
If one day the director decided to become a monk, Sheng Tang could understand.
William also got his answer.
Everyone was satisfied.
