Chapter 326: Nakamura And Marcello PT.3 (I’m Enjoying Writing This Whole Mafia Arc!)

Nakamura was enjoying life in America, but there was nothing stopping him from engaging in the more sinful pleasures this lifestyle provided him.

He knew his mission was to keep an eye on Marcello, but this didn’t mean he shouldn’t enjoy himself while he was at it.

He was aware of the infighting within the family and wondered what his father’s objective was at the end of the day.

"These Americans are crazy..." Nakamura thought to himself upon watching the news.

It was like this country was a haven for crime, but this was why his father must want him here.

The Yakuza weren’t as established in this country as they were in others.

This was why his father couldn’t use any other person; otherwise, they would become an easy target or be recognized right away because they had distinctive tattoos.

He needed to make sure no one knew about the Yakuza’s involvement in whatever it was he had planned.

He wondered if Marcello was like him. If there was anyone that could ever understand what he was going through, it would be someone like him.

There was no way he could have a normal life with the forces behind him, as this would only be a recipe for disaster.

This was what interested Nakamura—he wanted to see what kind of man Marcello was.

And if it was possible to have a family despite being in this life. But it must be possible; otherwise, he wouldn’t exist.

No, what he wanted to know was if he could live a normal life despite his family ties. And if Marcello had somehow managed that, then he had to figure out how, which was why he took an extra interest in him.

Nakamura noticed he was meeting with someone of prominence, but this wasn’t just anyone—it was Giovanni.

Nakamura knew he had to keep tabs on this new player, but this dispelled whatever illusion he might have had about Marcello.

There was no reason for him to be meeting the head of the splitting faction unless he wished to reunite the family or was planning to betray his father.

This would be an interesting event to watch unfold, as it would reveal the kind of man Marcello was.

But it would also give him a glimpse of how brutal the Mafia was; however, Nakamura didn’t have time to dwell on his thoughts.

Why? It was because his father had reached out with a message, but it was unclear what he wanted done.

Nakamura could rule out assassination—there was no reason for his father to make him take a life on the cusp of him leaving this lifestyle behind.

It was to go to the airport and meet someone, one of the more respected members of the Yakuza.

There was only one reason for his father to be taking this route, and this meant things were about to get a lot more chaotic.

Nakamura found himself in the middle of it, but this was his final act and he would be free, so he had to suck it up.

He waited at a private airstrip, and the person he was expecting was punctual—he came at the exact time.

Nakamura greeted him and could immediately feel the intensity oozing from this well-dressed man. He was young.

However, he was missing two fingers, which begged the question of just how much of a loose cannon this man was.

The most intimidating part wasn’t his missing fingers but rather his missing eye.

"You must be Nakamura. Kurayami is my name," the man spoke in perfect English, but Nakamura could instantly tell this man was dangerous.

However, he had to maintain his composure, because if he was under his father, then he must be tamed.

Nakamura’s father was ruthless, and one thing kept everyone in line—that was fear.

"Welcome, Kurayami," Nakamura greeted him. But this was the assignment his father gave him—to act as a chauffeur to this younger man.

But this was the man who would ultimately shape who he would become in the future.

Marcello was done with the meeting and met up with his father. He was glad to be done with it, but he had conducted this meeting without his father’s knowledge.

He understood his father might not like his actions, but it was already out of character for him to get this involved.

"Father, I have met with Giovanni," Marcello told his father outright. There was no hint of fear in his voice.

"You did what?" The Don was furious at the fact he had done so behind his back.

There were so many things Giovanni could have done to him, and that would make the Don look even weaker.

"Spare me your rage, father..." Marcello instantly dismissed him, because this wasn’t a man in his prime anymore.

He was a man who couldn’t even keep the family together, and he tried to regain the little control he still had over his son.

The Don realized it wasn’t his son he was talking to anymore—this was the man who saw a different future for the family.

He listened to everything Marcello had discussed with Giovanni, partly surprised that Giovanni had agreed to his terms.

But this was all too easy—it felt like a setup. But Marcello had demanded one thing of his father.

"Father, from this day onward, you will step down as the Don," Marcello demanded, and this shocked his father, as Marcello had made it clear he only cared about his daughter.

"... And who will take the helm?" The Don was surprisingly calm.

"I will, and Giovanni has agreed to accept me as the new Don," Marcello informed his father.

Giovanni was a man who believed in strength. He might be the one responsible for the uprising, but he wasn’t a man to give his word lightly.

The Don’s incompetence was what forced Marcello’s hand—he had to keep the family together to keep his daughter safe.

However, there was one person who couldn’t let this happen.

His name was Satoshi Nakamura.
