Chapter 650 – He Tamed Her

The elf huffed, folding her arms. "Tch. I liked it better when you were single. But I don’t mind for a one-night stand either."

Ely smiled faintly. "I didn’t say he was exclusive. He just knows where he prefers to return."

Lux choked. "Ely?!"

She shrugged. "You flirt with everything. Unconsciously. I just decided not to lose."

The poolside was never ready for that kind of statement. Half the women leaned in, intrigued. One dropped her glass.

"Ohhh," the elf murmured, eyes gleaming. "So it’s like that."

Lux sighed dramatically, looking up at the sky. "I came here for peace. Instead, I get a harem showdown."

"You started it," Ely said dryly. "With your chest out and that smirk."

"That smirk gets results."

"That smirk gets lawsuits."

The elf raised her hand. "I don’t sue. I settle with kisses."

Ely gave her a withering look. "Try it, and I’ll summon my father’s spa golems to toss you into the mineral springs face-first."

"Damn, I love her," Lux muttered.

"You’re not helping," Ely said.

He grinned and kissed her cheek this time. "But I’m honest."

And for once, she didn’t argue that.

Elyndra Vireleth actually smiled. Not her usual cool, diplomat-smile. No, this one had heat under it. Like he melted something. And judging by the flutter that ran down her spine, he knew it too.

She tucked her hair behind her ear as the table behind them went quiet. Not a breath. Not a blink. Just shocked, sharp ears and pointed stares from the group of noblewomen still lounging near the spa edge.

"Wait wait wait..." the tan elf leaned forward like she just overheard a scandal mid-bite. "Did he just say I love you?"

Ely didn’t even flinch. "He did."

"You’re dating her?" another asked, blinking fast like her brain couldn’t reboot fast enough. "You... Lux Vaelthorn... are dating Elyndra Vireleth?"

Lux cocked his head innocently. "That a problem?"

"She doesn’t date," a third woman hissed under her breath like she was trying not to shout. "She’s a Vireleth. She’s the Vireleth. The... the—"

"I can hear you," Ely said sharply.

That shut them up for a beat. Then the tan elf blurted, "You were supposed to be forever virgin! Like, vow of purity level! I had a bet with my cousin!"

"I never said that," Ely replied flatly, deadpan, like she was already tired of this century-old gossip.

"Didn’t you used to say, ’no man will ever touch me unless he can read my mind’?"

Ely’s expression didn’t change. "And Lux can."

The silence that followed was suffocating.

Lux just gave them all a lazy, sinful grin like that wasn’t the most loaded sentence they’d ever heard.

"...Shit," one of the women whispered.

The tan elf blinked hard. "You’re sleeping with him?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Ely raised her brows. "Wouldn’t you?"

"Okay, but I need a moment to mourn my worldview first."

Lux laughed, low and warm, before turning his attention back to Ely. "I’m done here anyway. Wanna grab lunch with me before the next wave of chaos hits?"

Ely looked like she was tempted to say something scathing. But instead, her shoulders relaxed and she said, "Depends. Where?"

"The restaurant near the pool?" he suggested. "Or the café in the lobby. Your pick."

"Restaurant," she said without pause.

"Great," he said, tugging her a little closer. "I’ll pay. Even though this entire place is basically your family’s legacy."

"I’ll allow it," she said, lips twitching.

"Convenient," Lux muttered with a smirk.

Behind them, the spa girls were still frozen in disbelief.

One leaned in and muttered, "He tamed her."

Another whispered back, "No way. He didn’t tame her. They just found someone who matched."

And the tan elf? She groaned, dramatically clutching her face. "Ugh... now I want a mysterious CFO too..."

Lux didn’t look back. He just reached for Ely’s hand as they walked.

The pool faded behind them, but the whispers followed. Eyes trailed them like magnetized vines, tugging and wrapping and trying to figure out the mystery of that couple. Elyndra Vireleth hand in hand with Lux Vaelthorn.

And he wasn’t even trying.

He didn’t puff his chest or flaunt his power. Just... walked like he owned the hallway. Calm. Sharp. Heat in the spine. Every head turned when they entered the restaurant, soft music humming under the air. The waitstaff, already alert, snapped straighter when they saw him.

"Sir," one greeted quickly, bowing.

Lux just nodded once. "Window table, if it’s open."

"Right this way."

The restaurant overlooked the garden pool below. Crystal-clear water reflected the soft morning light, and flowering trees framed the space in gentle shades of gold and blue. Quiet, expensive, peaceful.

And yet...

Everyone in that room turned when he walked past.

Ely watched it in real time. The double takes. The admiring stares. The open awe. And Lux?

Didn’t flinch.

He knew. He always knew. And he carried it not like arrogance, but like inevitability. Like people should look at him and he didn’t need to ask them to.

He pulled her chair out first before sitting across, glancing at the menu once, then ordering for both of them with ease. Seared ocean salmon for her. Medium-rare steak with herb butter for him. Two drinks, citrus tonic and black wine.

They didn’t speak until the waiter left.

Then Ely raised a brow, arms folded lightly. "What were you talking about with them?"

Lux sipped his water first. "Mm?"

"You’re not the type to let women circle you like that. Especially strangers."

Lux gave a half-smile. "Yeah. Not my style."

"So?"

He leaned back, shoulders relaxed, eyes flicking to her like he already knew she caught him. "Just took out some information."

"For?"

"For the bastard who’s been mimicking me," he said, voice low, but sharp now. "Playing games. Flirting with women like he’s me."

Ely’s eyes narrowed. "And?"

Lux rolled his glass slowly between his fingers. "I think I know why he’s doing it. Or at least... the reason."

She watched him. "Then what?"

Lux met her gaze directly. "Resentment."

The word hung between them.

"He wants to be me," Lux continued. "Not just use my name. He wants the life. The influence. The girls. He’s probably someone who lost out somewhere along the line. Someone who watched me from a distance, and thought, ’if I had what he had... I’d be king.’"

Ely tilted her head. "You’re oddly calm."

Lux grinned. "Because I already know how this ends."

She narrowed her eyes. "And how does it end?"

He smiled, quiet, certain.

"With him on his knees."
