Harem Ascension: My Gifted Domination System-Chapter 61 - 60: Paying the ultimate price
Chapter 61: Chapter 60: Paying the ultimate price
After some time had passed, Yukio changed back into her traditional kimono, restoring her usual image of dignified elegance—a figure to be admired from afar, not to be touched and tainted.
She made a conscious effort to maintain her distance from Roland, then spent some time tidying the room. She changed the bedsheets and opened the window to air out the stale air while she emptied out a full can of room freshener just to replace the scent of sex, finally making the once-filthy room presentable.
Fortunately, the quilt had been kicked off the bed earlier previous night, sparing it from being soiled. Otherwise, washing it would have been a nightmare.
Once all the immediate risks were addressed, the mother-in-law and son-in-law opened the door and left the room as if nothing had happened between them except Yukio tries to create distance whenever she saw Roland takes a step towards her.
Well, not all the risks were dealt with yet. She still needed to go out and buy an emergency medication—a drug that could prevent her from "paying the ultimate price."
She had to get it, even though she was currently in her safe period.
This was a matter of life and death. She couldn’t afford to take chances. If she happened to be that one in a million, she’d never be able to face her daughters again. She couldn’t gamble with her life and daughters relation!
After leaving the room, Yukio parted ways with Roland. She needed to seize the crucial 72-hour window to rush to the nearest pharmacy.
Fortunately, her youngest daughter seemed to be reading in her room, completely unaware of any possible commotion in her mother’s room. This spared Yukio the trouble of having to come up with an excuse to explain the situation.
Hurriedly, Yukio slipped into the foyer before her daughter could spot her, preparing to change into her shoes and leave.
But the moment she opened the front door, a figure appeared, instantly tensing her body.
"I’m back~. Oh? Mother, are you going out?" Haruno had returned.
She seemed equally surprised to run into her mother here.
Last night, Yuki had turned off her phone, preventing Haruno from asking her sister to check on the room. As a result, Haruno remained completely unaware of what had transpired between the mother-in-law and son-in-law.
Still, she remained certain that if no one had interfered, the two would have definitely shared a room.
It’s even possible they might have accidentally fired a gun...
That’s why Haruno rushed back immediately after the banquet, eager to catch her mother in the act.
But she never expected to find her mother standing before her, dressed so impeccably. This wasn’t how things were supposed to be.
"You’re back? Go rest first. Mother needs to go out for a walk to clear her head," Yukio said, her composure unwavering despite the momentary panic she felt upon seeing her daughter.
After all, she reasoned, her body and room had been thoroughly cleaned. The only thing left was the ’lethal substance’ in her womb, but Haruno would never discover that. What was there to fear?
"You’re going out alone? Where’s Roland? Why isn’t he with you?" Haruno narrowed her eyes.
"Roland is preparing lunch. I’m just going for a stroll; I don’t need him to accompany me," Yukio replied coolly.
"What do you mean you don’t need him to accompany you...? Did you two have a fight?" Haruno asked, her suspicion growing.
Normally, her mother insisted on having Roland by her side at all times, didn’t she? Also when did she stop adding ’Little’?
How could she possibly say she didn’t need him to accompany her?
Something must have happened between them last night. They definitely had a fight.
Could it be that Roland ignored her mother’s objections and went all the way?
Or was it that her mother wanted to go all the way, but Roland, mindful of his wife’s feelings, refused?
This was strange. Haruno needed to go out with her mother and see what was going on.
"What are you thinking about? Do you really think we’d have a fight?" Yukio rolled her eyes at her daughter. She didn’t consider her issues with Roland to be a real conflict.
"You’re right. It would be unprecedented for you two to fight. In that case, why don’t I come with you? Come to think of it, we haven’t had a proper chat in ages, just the two of us."
"Why would you come with me? You and your husband have been apart for two days. You finally rushed back—why would you spend time with me instead of him?" Yukio frowned slightly.
Why was Haruno suddenly offering to go strolling with her?
Something felt off. Could Haruno have noticed something?
Impossible. The lethal substance in her womb couldn’t have been detected, and all traces on her body had long since vanished. Even her walk posture is near perfect as before. There was no way anyone could suspect anything; they were likely just being cautious.
But even mere suspicion was enough to prevent her from allowing them to follow. She couldn’t possibly walk into a pharmacy in front of her daughter and buy emergency contraception, could she?
That would be no different than telling her daughter exactly what had happened last night.
"Alright, then. Be careful on your way. I’ll go check on Roland first," Haruno said, her tone casual. Hearing her mother’s refusal, she already had a good idea of what was going on.
If her mother had nothing to hide, she would have readily allowed Haruno to accompany her, even as a watchful presence.
The immediate, wordless rejection confirmed Haruno’s suspicions: her mother was definitely hiding something, and it was urgent.
Seeing this, Haruno pretended to drop the matter, letting her mother leave alone. She then headed to the kitchen to find Roland. freewebnøvel_com
Only after her mother had closed the door and been gone for a while did Haruno sneak out to follow.
She was determined to find out exactly where her mother was going...
