Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 142: Are Those Coincidences Between Her and Sebastian Prescott Really Just Coincidences?
The reporters paused for a moment, then immediately started pressing with questions.
Sienna Monroe listened to his logically clear words and couldn’t help but look up at his back.
Inexplicably, a sour feeling welled up in her heart.
Caleb Sinclair, putting aside his infidelity and hypocrisy, could actually be considered a good partner.
She knew that whether it was transferring shares, trying desperately to get her safely out of the police station, or clarifying matters now, he was genuinely doing it from the heart.
He loved her.
But it was precisely because of this that she felt desolate.
Loving her while unable to let go of Vivian Nash, this complex situation was something she couldn’t understand.
Nor did she want to understand it.
She wasn’t so generous; she couldn’t tolerate betrayal and deception with her best friend for over a year.
Hadn’t she loved him?
But all those so-called affections had been completely worn away by his endless lies and deceit.
In just three months, they vanished without a trace.
She lowered her eyelids, trying to disperse the complexity in her heart.
Now, as long as this public opinion disappears, that’s enough.
Everything else...
To her, it was no longer important.
"Everyone, I’ve finished answering. The opening ceremony is about to start, so please focus more on this event.
Today’s event involves not only the gallery but also the two teachers, Audrey and Faye Irving."
Caleb Sinclair was probably tired of the questions and raised his voice to promptly terminate the interview.
His voice was gentle, but there was an undeniable sense of threat in his tone.
There were quite a few leaders present today, and the reporters couldn’t afford to delay the opening ceremony.
After saying this, he ignored the reporters’ reactions, took Sienna by one hand, and wrapped his arm around her waist, heading to the corner at the end of the corridor.
Only when there was no one around did he stop, lowered his eyes to observe Sienna’s expression, and asked with concern, "Honey, how are you?"
Sienna looked up, the color had mostly returned to her face.
She forced a smile and shook her head, "I’m fine now... thank you."
Caleb sighed in relief but still felt some heartache at her facade of strength. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
He reached out and pinched her cheek gently, his voice soft, "I’m your husband, it’s only right for me to protect you from harm, you don’t need to thank me, it’s what I’m supposed to do.
Honey, no matter what happens, I am your strongest support, just remember, I will solve everything for you."
Sienna looked into his eyes full of deep love and sincerity, and the complexity in her heart surged again.
After a pause, she managed to utter a single "Okay."
By the time it was close to ten fifteen, Sienna had adjusted her state of mind.
The opening event officially began, Director Dawson introduced today’s guests, participating artists, and the event’s content on stage.
Once the speeches were over, it was time for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Everything proceeded orderly, smoothly, and without any hiccups.
As people moved to the rest area behind the exhibition hall for the cocktail party, Ivy came to find her, "Director Monroe, I must take my leave now."
Sienna was slightly surprised, "Not joining the cocktail party?"
Ivy shook her head, "No, I don’t really like such occasions. I really like the style of this exhibition, the collision of abstract and reality.
Visually, it’s both stunning and tense. I hope that my own exhibition can have the same expressive power in the future."
Sienna smiled lightly, "Rest assured, Miss Ivy, our curation and exhibition planning will not disappoint you."
"I’ll be awaiting good news."
"Take care."
Watching Ivy leave, Sienna furrowed her brow slightly.
It seemed she really came just to attend the opening ceremony of this exhibition.
Caleb Sinclair didn’t stay long at the cocktail party either, making sure she didn’t drink alcohol, and after eating something, he left at ease.
Over half an hour later, the car arrived at the entrance of the construction company, and he tossed the car keys to the security guard as he walked into the building.
Suddenly, a text message alert sounded from the phone in his coat pocket.
The beep echoed sharply in the quiet lobby.
He paused, seemingly reminded of that text message from the day before yesterday, his eyebrows slightly knitted, and his gaze scattered.
He felt a bit scared and hesitant to face the message.
After hesitating for a while, he finally took out his phone.
Sure enough.
It was from the same number that had messaged him the day before yesterday.
He opened it: "Why don’t you believe me?! It was really Sienna Monroe who reported Radiance Beauty Spa. She was released by noon on the same day she was taken to the police station.
It was her attorney, Sebastian Prescott, who submitted the evidence. She and Sebastian already have a different kind of relationship, and once her goals are achieved, she will abandon you without hesitation."
Caleb Sinclair’s pupils contracted abruptly, at that moment, as if pricked by invisible needles, the entire world shattered into countless pieces on his retinas.
Instinctively, his breathing became rapid, as if he were a beached fish, with all the air drawn out of his chest.
Attorney?
Sebastian Prescott is her attorney?
Impossible!
Impossible!
He kept repeating those three words in his mind, completely denying the bad news in the text.
Yes, it was just bad news.
How could it be?
That gentle, understanding Sienna, who could even forgive his infidelity and continue to rely on him, how could she do such a thing?
This person must be fear-mongering, intentionally sowing discord.
He needed to believe in Sienna.
Without any direct evidence, he had to believe in her.
He clenched his phone tightly, using the last bit of rationality to pull back his thoughts and quickly deleted the message.
Just pretend he never saw the content of the text, he stepped into the elevator with a grim face.
But the line in the text, "She and Sebastian have a different kind of relationship, once her objectives are met, she will abandon you without hesitation."
Like a toxin, spread swiftly from his nerve endings to his entire body and blood.
Unconsciously, he recalled scenes of her and Sebastian together that he had previously witnessed, and she always said it was a coincidence.
But each time, there was an invisible emotional connection between them.
That feeling made him very uneasy.
Too many coincidences, and it was no longer a coincidence.
Just like the excuses he and Vivian Nash used to cover up before...
Thinking of this, his heart sank, and in a daze, he seemed to hear the sound of cracks forming, waves of pain washing over his organs repeatedly.
The elevator arrived, and he didn’t get out, just stood there in a daze, like a soulless shell.
