Guide To Train My Beast Husbands-Chapter 205: She cared for him didn’t she
When Chief Xie saw that Ruan Chanchan still looked worried, she walked over to where she was standing and took her hand in hers. She said to her, "Don’t think too much. Overthinking will only make you doubt yourself even more. Indeed, there are a lot of people who are doubting you, and there are many who are waiting for you to fail, but you need to prove to them that they are the ones in the wrong and not the other way around. A lot is going on in the tribe, but don’t worry; as long as everything gets better, things will only work out for you. You don’t need to take any risks if you don’t want to; I will not ask you to do that." Chief Xie expressed her thoughts right away.
Ruan Chanchan had no reason to refuse after hearing Chief Xie’s response. She sighed and agreed. "But I am not going to teach anyone if they act disrespectfully towards me. She didn’t want to teach a bunch of ungrateful bastards who did not know better.
"Don’t worry, I have already talked with them. No one will dare to say anything to you, or else they would be disrespecting the chief." Chief Xie assured Ruan Chanchan. "Can you trust me?"
She hesitated when she saw Ruan Chanchan looking at her with a dubious expression, as if she was sure it was not going to work.
Ruan Chanchan sighed. Truth be told, she did not want to get involved with the members of the tribe, for she knew that the elders would take it as her trying to expand her influence in the tribe, and the last thing she needed was for them to come up with another calculating and highly imaginative conspiracy theory that might make her the villain of this tribe.
She did not want that, especially not when she had no desire to take the role that they kept forcing on her head. Was she ambitious? No. Was she thinking of taking over the tribe? Again no. But did she have any goal? Heck yes.
But her goal was to live a good life and not live like she was a fucking fugitive.
Worrying about her next step was going to only ruin her fucking mind. How could she live a life where she had to think about what to do next? It was better to avoid getting involved in things that might become troublesome later on.
Ruan Chanchan ran her hand through her hair and said to Chief Xie, "Fine. But I am clearing this thing up right now: if the elders create any trouble for me, then I will stop teaching the tribe members right away." She didn’t care if she was being rude; Ruan Chanchan did not want to cause trouble for herself or Ruan Zeqiu.
Chief Xie didn’t feel anything was wrong with Ruan Chancha’s request; after all, what she said made sense. She smiled and nodded. She was worried that the child would get scarred because of the actions of the elders. It was a miracle that Ruan Chanchan was still living a good life without losing her heart.
When Ruan Chanchan saw that Chief Xie had agreed with her request, she sighed in relief. She was worried that the woman would lecture her on respecting elders, but it was a good thing the woman was understanding enough not to cause trouble unnecessarily. Or else she would have seriously thought of leaving the tribe for good. After all, what was the point in staying here where she had no respect or honour?
Ruan Chanchan returned to her cave after discussing a few more things with the chief. When she returned to the cave, the first thing that she did was to put away the moon nuts and the bamboo shoots, along with the rest of the mushrooms and the whisper fruits. She messily looked around the cave and sighed when she realised how much work she needed to do.
It would be better if I had an assistant. Without someone helping me out, this is going to be a mess, thought Ruan Chanchan worriedly as she looked at the piles of things. Her thoughts, however, were interrupted when she heard someone coming inside the cave. She turned and looked at the mer behind her before saying, "What are you doing here?" In the past, sensing a beast mer presence, but ever since she collected some of the faith energy, it had gotten much smoother for her to detect the presence of people next to her. She could vaguely sense that someone was next to her without turning around.
Yuan Ni: "..."
Yuan Ni paused in his steps when he heard Ruan Chanchan’s question. He raised his head and looked at the woman in front of him with a look of disbelief in his eyes. He had been careful after being caught the last time, and this time around, he was even quieter than usual, but he was still caught by Ruan Chanchan. It really ruined his fun. He wanted to pounce on and scare her, but the woman was quick to catch him.
He raised his head and looked at the red-haired woman with matching red eyes and had to admit that he had never seen a woman as beautiful as her. The second her eyes met with his, Yuan Ni felt like his soul had been involuntarily sucked in by a look from her alone.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ruan Chanchan asked as she raised her hand and waved it in front of the mer’s face when she saw him looking at her with a gaze that was simply inexplicable.
"..."
Yuan Ni snapped out of her daze when he heard her voice. He hurriedly lowered his head, with all of his previous arrogance disappearing in an instant.
He felt very complicated in his heart. The feeling that Ruan Chanchan gave him was quite different from the ones that he used to have in the past. The woman was silly and cute in the past, and he would often tease her with the other mers and the people of the tribe, but Ruan Chanchan was no longer the same. She now gave off this mysterious and complicated aura, which was simply unfathomable.
The depth alone made him wonder if he even knew the real Ruan Chanchan.
"Hello? Did something happen?" Ruan Chanchan questioned, and when she didn’t hear a response, she narrowed her eyes and muttered, "Don’t tell me that you ate something else? I am telling you I am not going to save your life again. I am not doing it."
Yuan Ni: "..."
His face turned red as he said to Ruan Chanchan angrily, "And I am not asking you to. I am perfectly fine." He glanced at the woman who was eyeing him with a suspicious gaze, and didn’t know what to make of the current situation. Was he supposed to only look for her when he ate something complicated or toxic? What kind of deduction was this?
Seeing that the mer was still not speaking, Ruan Chanchan frowned even harder. Her suspicions became even firmer when she saw that the mer was not saying anything and looked a bit guilty with his eyes shifting left and right without a word leaving his mouth.
She took a step toward the mer and reached out to hold his hand when the mer jerked away as if he was electrocuted by a thunderstorm itself. He glared at her before saying, "I — I am not going to submit to you this easily." He did say those words, but with his flustered speech and incoherent words, these words had no impact at all.
"What?" Ruan Chanchan paused, and her hand that was held in the air paused as well. She looked at the mer in front of her with some shock and confusion in her eyes, which soon shifted into anger and helplessness. "What do you mean by those words? Does it look like I am forcing you to do something? What kind of nonsense are you even spouting?" She was so angry that she nearly rolled her eyes at the mer. Did he think that she was someone who would force others into doing something that they didn’t want to?
"No, that...." Yuan Ni didn’t know how to respond. He felt rather awkward and helpless. His expression changed into that of a lost one.
"Alright, there is no need for you to make this any more awkward." Ruan Chanchan waved her hand, she said to the mer, "I wads just trying to see if there was something wrong with yoy when you were stayingf too quiet. Usually, you don’t stay quiet at all."
Yuan Ni’s face turned even redder when he heard Ruan Chanchan’s response; he thought of his reaction and Ruan Chanchan’s pure actions and intentions. His face couldn’t help but burn even more when he thought about how he reacted but at the same time, he felt a bit giddy. Ruan Chanchan cared for him...didn’t she?
