Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 60: The Fire Element Nurturing Manual
The memory cut off. Li Wei didn’t see who was supposed to be assassinated.
All he knew was that the mission had been issued by the Beastman Race, and the target was human.
’Lilia is hiding an important secret!’
Li Wei quickly withdrew from the dream and knocked on Teacher Gu Ze’s door.
"Teacher Gu Ze, are you asleep?"
The urgent knocking startled Gu Ze awake. He opened the door, his eyes still heavy with sleep.
"What’s the rush?"
By the time he spoke, Gu Ze was already wide awake.
Li Wei said, "Come with me. We need to catch an Assassin. This is important."
Gu Ze’s expression turned to surprise.
"An Assassin? You found the Beastman Race’s Assassin? We should report this to Mage Allen."
"There’s no time! Any later and she’ll be gone."
Seeing the urgency, Gu Ze quickly grabbed his gear and ran out of the inn with Li Wei.
Li Wei activated his Invisibility Cloak and vanished into the night.
Gu Ze cast the Water Illusion Spell. His real body vanished, leaving a water illusion behind.
"Teacher Gu Ze, this way!"
Li Wei let his Magic Staff emerge, pointed in the direction, then pulled it back under his Invisibility Cloak.
The two rushed to the location of Lilia’s hiding spot from the dream.
"She’s in there," Li Wei said, standing outside the door with Gu Ze.
Gu Ze nodded. "I’ll handle it."
"Magic Servant!"
He summoned a Magic Servant to open the door, and the water illusion followed it inside.
A moment later, Gu Ze shook his head. "No one’s inside."
Li Wei sighed. "A shame. She still got away."
Gu Ze gave Li Wei a strange look. "How did you know an Assassin was hiding here?"
Li Wei said, "I received a note. It said there was an Assassin here preparing to kill an important person."
Gu Ze grew thoughtful. "It might have been a message from one of our spies. It’s a shame we missed our chance to catch the Assassin. But why would the spy give the note to you?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"I don’t know. Maybe they didn’t have a chance to give it to anyone else," Li Wei replied casually.
Gu Ze shook his head. "What about the note?"
"I burned it," Li Wei said.
Gu Ze: "..."
"With no proof, it’s nothing. Just forget it. Don’t mention this to anyone else. In the future, if you receive a message from an unknown source, don’t act so rashly. What if it’s a trap?" Gu Ze said.
Li Wei humbly accepted the lecture. "Right, I understand."
The two returned to the inn.
Back in his room, Li Wei’s eyes glinted.
’Little wildcat. I didn’t expect her to be so alert.’
’Being so wary of the Human Race... I’d be a fool to think she isn’t hiding something.’
At first, Li Wei had wanted to warn everyone that there was an Assassin from the Beastman Race hidden in the city.
But after Gu Ze’s warning, he decided against such a risky move.
He just needed to be more vigilant himself; there was no need to announce it to the world.
The army had teams dedicated to hunting Assassins and protecting important figures. It wasn’t his place to worry about it.
He just had to protect himself.
If it didn’t concern him, he wouldn’t get involved.
Li Wei checked that his Invisible Armor was intact, activated his Invisibility Cloak, and lay down on his bed to slip into the dream.
The room appeared to be empty.
Back in his dream cabin, Li Wei examined the Shadow Touch Spell.
’Shadow Magic is pretty rare. Why would an Assassin know it?’
He racked his brains but couldn’t figure it out.
He began Casting, constructing the Magic Model for the Shadow Touch Spell and filling it with the Shadow Element.
A thick Shadow Tentacle emerged silently from the gloom.
Li Wei controlled the Shadow Tentacle, making it sweep aside a chair and smash the wooden bed.
His old friend, the Nightmare Snow Bear, materialized.
The Shadow Tentacle wrapped around the Nightmare Snow Bear, pinning it in place.
’Its power is much weaker than the Fireball Skill. It’s more of a Control Spell, for binding.’
Li Wei hadn’t expected to acquire a much-needed Control Spell in this way.
The control effect of the Shadow Tentacles was quite good, firmly binding the Tier One Peak Nightmare Snow Bear and preventing it from moving.
As the Nightmare Snow Bear struggled, the duration of the Shadow Tentacles rapidly decreased.
After holding the Nightmare Snow Bear for twenty seconds, the Shadow Tentacles vanished.
The Nightmare Snow Bear opened its great, bloody maw and charged at Li Wei.
Li Wei waved his hand. The Nightmare Snow Bear vanished, and everything returned to normal.
’Cold Sand City is full of hidden dangers and undercurrents. I don’t have the luxury of worrying about others. The only thing I can do is seize every moment to increase my own power and protect myself.’
Li Wei withdrew from the dream and began his Cultivation of the Fireball Skill in the real world.
He discovered that when he cultivated the Fireball Skill in the dream, he couldn’t feel the life-pulse of the Fire Element.
Perhaps it was because the Dream World was all an illusion.
The Fire Element didn’t truly exist there.
Before long, Li Wei’s Mana was depleted.
’This is too slow. At this rate, I can only increase my proficiency by a dozen or so points a day. It’ll take at least another half-month to reach Master Level.’
Li Wei touched the Mana Recovery Potion in his pocket. ’Should I use this to speed up my Cultivation?’
He took one out and drank it.
A cool sensation rushed to his head, and his depleted Mana quickly recovered.
Three minutes later, the effects of the Mana Recovery Potion wore off. Most of Li Wei’s Mana had been restored.
’Not worth it! I’m better off just grinding it out slowly.’
A small Mana Recovery Potion was worth 1 Gold Coin, but it only let him cast two or three Tier One Magic spells.
Using Mana Recovery Potions for Cultivation was simply too extravagant.
Li Wei stared at the Fireball in his hand, pondering what it truly meant to be "acknowledged by the Element."
’When I’m Casting, what is the Fire Element doing?’
’Why does Casting more lead to being acknowledged by the Element? What’s the principle behind that?’
With a skeptical mindset, Li Wei released his Spiritual Power to carefully observe the Fireball in his hand, sensing the changes in the Fire Element.
’The Fire Element within the Fireball is more active and hotter than the free-floating Fire Element in the air.’
’Huh! The Fire Element is absorbing Mana?’
The Mana used to maintain the Magic Model was decreasing at an extremely slow rate, while the Fire Element was growing more and more active.
Before, Li Wei had always assumed this Mana drain was normal.
But now that his Spiritual Power was stronger, he could carefully perceive the subtle interaction between his Mana and the Fire Element.
It now seemed the Mana wasn’t just dissipating without reason. The lost Mana was being absorbed by the Fire Element, raising its energy level.
’Casting the Fireball Skill is a bit like feeding the Fire Element with Mana.’
’So the key to gaining the Element’s acknowledgment isn’t Casting, but feeding the Element with Mana!’
’It’s just that during the brief moment you hold a spell, you unconsciously feed the Element with Mana. Over time, that leads to the Element’s acknowledgment.’
’Could this be the truth behind Elemental Awakening?’
Li Wei actively released more Mana to feed the Fire Element, which grew increasingly active.
Finally... BOOM!
The Fireball exploded. The Fire Element, reaching a crescendo, burst forth in a brilliant flash of light.
Li Wei was sent flying, nearly killed by the blast.
Startled by the explosion, Gu Ze from the next room burst through the door, thinking Li Wei had been attacked by an Assassin.
He saw the wrecked room and Li Wei lying motionless on the floor.
Gu Ze rushed to his side. "Li Wei, what happened?"
He anxiously checked Li Wei for injuries.
A moment later, a look of astonishment crossed his face. Li Wei wasn’t hurt.
Then what was all this chaos from the explosion about?
THUMP THUMP THUMP!
The sound of many footsteps echoed from outside the door. A number of people, woken by the noise, had run over to see what was happening.
Seeing the wreckage inside the room, they all looked on in shock.
Li Wei stirred. He couldn’t get up; it felt like he’d thrown out his back. He quickly cried out to Gu Ze for help.
"Teacher, give me a hand. I can’t get up."
Gu Ze helped him up, breathing a sigh of relief.
"As long as you’re all right. What were you doing in here?"
