Chapter 101: Mysterious Magician

The endless wilderness was deadly silent, with darkness and darkness in every eye.

One of the dead souls walked in the darkness in a daze.

A thick and turbid river suddenly appeared in front of them, blocking the way.

The souls instantly stood at the edge of the river, staring at the not-so-turbulent water; an innate fear kept them from taking another step forward.

“Is this the river of pain, Acheron?” Apollo walked slowly along the black road, shining with golden light.

Gazing ahead at the turbulent river, his eyes flashed.

At that moment, a small cloak boat suddenly came in the distance; the prow of the boat stood an old man with gray hair and eyes, paddling the oars, who slowly rowed the boat to the shore.

And inside the cloak, suddenly burst out a tall, brown and black hair, clear-eyed beautiful girl, she was talking to the old man rowing, and the rest of her eyes suddenly caught the golden figure on the shore.

She suddenly pursed her lips, beautiful eyes sultry gaze over, white face both joy and sorrow.

The boatman noticed this and said with a hoarse laugh: “This blond is the lover you’ve been thinking about all day.”

He rowed the boat to Apollo.

Hecate jumped off the boat like a cat and leaped in front of Apollo. But just as she was about to lean against him, she stopped and puffed out her cheeks. “Finally, you are willing to come to see me in the underworld, you heartless fellow.”

Her beautiful eyes blinked and said, “Sister Astraea must be very happy to hear that you have gone to the stars all these years.”

Apollo smiled and put his arm around her: “Is that what Hermes told you? He’s not on good terms with me, so you can’t trust what he says.”

“Well, he’s a slick talker, but I don’t think he’s lying to me about this.” Hecate’s eyes cut viciously at Apollo, but her body involuntarily shrank in his arms.

“I’ve never been to the underworld before. I didn’t know this place was so lonely. You must have suffered a lot here all these years.” Apollo looked gently at her fair face, which was stained with dust.

“Although the underworld looks lonely, it is actually better than outside. There is not so much disturbance, and the gods here are either very busy all day long or they are lazy and sleep. They do not have the heart to think about other things.”

Hecate said while noticing Apollo’s gaze hurriedly, dusting off his face while finishing his wrinkled dress.

She said in a low voice, “I didn’t know you were coming today…”

“Any dust and stains cannot hide your charm. I like you so dirty,” Apollo smiled and stroked her head.

With a blush on her face, Hecate pointed to the side and said, “There’s someone else.”

The pale old boatman with gray hair laughed and said, “I have been in this river since the birth of the divine court and have seen countless ghosts. What is so rare about a couple like you?”

Taking Hecate by the hand, Apollo walked up to him and asked, “Is your predecessor, Chiron, the son of goddess Nyx?”

“I don’t dare to be addressed as senior by the vice-prince of the divine court. You’d better call me by my name.” Boatman’s voice was still hoarse as Chiron’s. He summoned a young woman from the ghost beside him and brought her aboard the ship.

Apollo and Hecate also followed and sat on it.

Chiron slowly paddled up the oars, black cloak boat towards the other side.

“Apollo, are you going to visit the goddess Nyx this time?” Hecate asked.

Apollo nodded: “They have all gone to the underworld, and they can’t justify not visiting goddess Nyx.”

At this time, Chiron, next to him, said: “My mother is still very easy-going and likes your excellent juniors, but don’t pay attention to my brothers and sisters. Most of them are not good things.”

Halfway through, he added: “I’m not worried about you, it’s them that you need to worry about with your supernatural powers, but I don’t want to see them being taught by you.”

Hecate chuckled: “Among your brothers and sisters, Thanatos and Hypnos are actually pretty good, although one has a gloomy face all day long, while the other likes to sleep all the time.”

“They were conceived by the mother alone, and the other brothers and sisters were infected with the dark breath of the father, and their personalities were more normal,” Chiron replied.

“And I wonder what kind of god the God of darkness is?” Apollo asked.

“My Father God, he and mother nature is similar, are very like quiet, even mother sometimes will go out, he never likes to deal with outsiders,” Chiron recalled.

“Strange to say, since the second generation of the divine court, the Father God has appeared less and less. I rarely even feel the presence of his breath.”

His words made Apollo’s eyes stare.

Originally wanted to ask a few more questions about the dark god Erebus, but Chiron shook his head:

“There are five rivers in the Underworld, the ‘river of pain’, Acheron; the ‘river of sighs’ Kokutos; the ‘river of water scorpions’, Piriflego Tong; the ‘river of oblivion’, Lethe and the ‘river of abominations’, Styx. I will only take the ghosts through the river of pain.”

“By crossing all five rivers, you will reach the Underworld’s Elysian Paradise, which is the end of the souls of the dead.”

“You bypass Elysian Paradise and go to the deeper realm of darkness, meet my mother, and then ask about the Father God.”

“In this world, only the mother knows the Father God best.”

Seeing that Chiron was unwilling to say more, Apollo had to stop the conversation, holding Hecate in his arms and scanning the dark river around him.

Golden eyes suddenly fell on the young, dead soul that Cronus had brought aboard.

Because she was staring at him with eyes that seemed excited.

Apollo got a glimmer of interest, and a glimmer of light flooded his body.

The warm light shone on the female soul, and her eyes cleared up, and she prayed fervently: “Great God of light, you are the brightest star of Olympus, you are …”

Apollo interrupted her: “It seems that you are my believer…”

The dead female soul hurriedly nodded: “Yes, I am from the city-state near Delphi and often visit your temple of light, to receive the teachings of the priestess Thekasha; I am your most devout follower.”

“I have long heard that you have a wide faith among mortals; I did not expect to meet a random dead soul, are your followers,” Hecate said with a light smile.

Another question: “You look less than twenty years old. Why did you die so young?”

The dead woman, who had been softened and filled with devotion by the sight of her faith in the gods, was suddenly filled with emotion.

She roared with sadness: “It’s all because I was too greedy and made that wish to the wizard.” 𝐛𝗲𝐝𝗻𝗼𝘃𝐞𝗹.𝗻𝐞𝘁

“A magician?” Hecate became curious.

At this point, the young dead woman intermittently said: “I was a very ordinary girl in the city-state; not long ago, I met a wandering wizard in the street, and he said you can make a wish to him, so I wished to become the most beautiful girl in the city-state.”

“Not long after I returned home, I was surprised to find that my appearance had suddenly changed completely, the original low, flat nose was gone, and the skin on my face had become even whiter than the king’s dainty princess.”

“I was very happy, but my parents came home and, because of the change in my appearance, mistook me for a thief who had run in and stolen their daughter’s clothes and beat me out.”

The corners of the young dead woman’s eyes were moistened.

Then said: “Then I had to wander the streets alone. I had begun to be afraid, trying to find the wizard, but on the roadside, encountered robbers, they coveted my beauty, so they wanted to defile me.”

“I had to flee desperately and escaped to the cliff outside, where I accidentally fell and broke my leg.”

“At this point, instead of being rescued by a handsome prince, as in the fairy tale, and being happy from then on, I just starved to death alive under the cliff.”

She finished her story with great resignation.

Apollo and Hecate looked at each other but saw boredom in each other’s eyes.

The structure of the story was too simple, the plot changes were boring, and there was no point of attraction at all.

Looking at their expressions, the young female dead soul burst into tears: “When I died, the magician appeared before me with the same look in his eyes, saying that things were too boring.”

“And that he had a philosophical line ready to shine at the pinnacle part of the story and use that line to bring the story to a close, but I was too stupid to screw up the story he was going to direct.”

“He just turned around and left with that translucent mask on, wearing a dark cloak and eyes full of disgust.”

Hearing this, Apollo’s eyes suddenly changed, and he asked in a low voice: “You said he was wearing a translucent mask and a dark cloak?”

The young female undead nodded, “That magician is such a mysterious and strange dress. I should have paid attention at the beginning.”

She still regretted it while Apollo’s eyes shone with a brilliant light.
