Valerian's topaz eyes flashed with a predatory light as he bared his sharp fangs, stretched his claws, and dove straight at the prey from high up above.

The moment Malcolm heard this bestial roar, a chill crawled down his spine. He raised his head just in time to see Adam wielding a staff, riding an armored gray panther with black wings, and pouncing at him with intense killing intent.

The emerald-eyed man gritted his teeth, his eyes spewing hatred. No matter what he did, Adam just wouldn't leave him alone.

He used his only remaining hand and tightly clasped onto the reins of the skeletal mount, trying to evade the incoming attack as hard as he possibly could.

But it was all futile.

BAM!

The young dragon smashed into the skeletal undead, wrapping his claws around its upper body. Then, he opened his gaping maw and sunk his teeth into its spine!

The skeletal bird struggled intensely under the onsluaght of the young dragon. It flailed its wings around, trying its best to get free, but that proved extremely difficult.

After all, the skeletal bird, although a Rank 2 summons, excelled at flight and speed.

However, Valerian…

He was a mighty dragon!

Seeing the little guy fight so valiantly, Adam's heart was filled with pride. With a wide grin on his face, he turned to look at Malcolm, who was desperately struggling to cling onto the reins of his mount with just one hand.

Adam's expression turned ruthless and he positioned himself on Valerian's back. Then, he leaped towards his enemy!

When Malcolm noticed Adam falling toward him while readying his staff, his expression darkened. "You fucking madman! Do you have a death wish?!"

Both of them—and their summons—were falling from the sky and the ground was over a thousand meters away from them.

Despite that, Adam was crazy enough to leap off of his flying mount and hurl toward him!

Seeing the staff enlarge in his vision and the vicious smile on Adam's face deepening with each passing moment, Malcolm knew that he had to risk it.

There was no way he was going to get hit by that staff again. Last time, he had lost his arm. This time… he might lose his life!

Thus, he gritted his teeth and let go of the reins as he leaped away from his flying skeletal mount, narrowly evading Adam's staff.

Now, both he and Adam were falling from the sky!

However, he still had access to another flying undead summon. Thinking of this, his eyes flashed with a crazed glint.

No matter what! I will survive this battle, he screamed inwardly.

But the next moment, his eyes widened, almost threatening to pop out of his eye sockets. He saw Adam get into position mid-air and viciously throw the staff at him.

WHOOSH!

The staff tore through the air and flew towards the necromancer at great speeds. In the blink of an eye, it was already before him.

At the last moment, Malcolm conjured his weapon—the chakram—from his storage pouch, leaned his body sideways in mid-air, and parried the incoming staff.

BAM!

Although he was able to deflect the staff, as a result, his chakram shattered into pieces by the sheer force of Adam's throw.

Not just that, Malcolm felt his entire remaining arm go numb. He even had this feeling that his bones might have cracked in several places.

But he didn't even have a split second of respite.

From the corner of his eyes, he caught a glimpse of Adam gliding towards him with a mad look in his eyes, and before he knew it…

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

Adam had ruthlessly tackled him in mid-air!

While a brutal melee was unfolding between the two of them, high above the sea of clouds, the same held true for Valerian and the skeletal bird.

No matter how much either of them tried, they weren't able to go past one another's defensive capabilities.

The bird, with its weak talons, could not pierce through the draconic scales of Valerian.

Valerian, on the other hand, could not break through the sturdy skeletal frame of the Rank 2 creature.

As they fell from mid-air, their battle had reached a stalemate.

Valerian's eyes flashed with worry when he saw Adam falling through the sky. He knew that his brother didn't have any flying spells, only a levitating spell.

But even if Adam used the latter, falling from such a great height would have disastrous consequences.

Thus, Valerian either had to let go of its prey and save his brother. Or he could take care of his prey and then save his brother.

The second option was naturally the best, but since there was nothing he could do about it, he was inclining towards the first option.

Suddenly, his topaz eyes flashed with a crafty glint and he thought to himself, I still have those left…

I wonder if that will work.

Without hesitating for a moment longer, he willed it in his mind and he transformed into a gray cat at a speed visible to the naked eye.

All of a sudden, the skeletal bird found itself clawing onto nothing!

Under its stunned gaze, Valerian ran across its body with nimble, cat-like movements while dropping one crystal vial after another into the bird's enormous ribcage.

These round crystal vials contained a crimson liquid.

Potion of Explosion!!

After putting nearly fifty Potions of Explosions into the skeletal bird's rib cage, Valerian agilely scaled its humongous spine and leaped away.

The chubby gray cat stretched his limbs and fell from the air with a smug look on his face, leaving behind a large skeletal bird whose ribcage was now filled with highly explosive potions.

Valerian turned his head around and cast one final glance at his prey. "Hmph!"

As if on cue, the very next moment, the Rank 2 skeletal bird was engulfed in a devastating explosion.

BOOOMMM!!!

A couple of hundred meters below, Adam and Malcolm, who were brawling in mid-air, were taken aback by the sudden explosion in the air.

Adam turned around, his expression filled with panic, thinking something might have happened to Valerian.

But the scene that greeted him caused him to be stunned. Following that, his lips curled into a smirk. "Nicely done, Val!"

He then turned around, his expression turning vicious. "Now, your turn!"

The youth tightly clasped Malcolm's shoulders, his claws digging into his flesh. Then, he pulled his head back and delivered a nasty headbutt.

BAM!

However, Adam still wasn't done.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

He headbutted the man until the latter's face caved in. At this point, Malcolm was barely hanging onto consciousness.

Adam's expression turned ferocious and he grabbed the man's neck with one hand. Then, with his free hand, he grabbed Malcolm's only hand and viciously tore it from his body.

"AAAGGHHH!!" Malcolm was jolted awake from that immense pain.

Seeing him scream in pain and misery, Adam displayed a wide grin. "Now, let's see you cast any more spells."

His gaze was then drawn to Malcolm's storage pouch fastened to his belt. He reached out for it and put it away. "I'll be taking this one too."

Then, he stretched his hand and made a clawing motion, as if he was calling out to something.

WHOOSH!

Within a few moments, the Staff of Calamity returned to him, landing firmly into his grip!

He looked at Malcolm one last time and solemnly stated, "You were a worthy opponent."

Then, he jumped off of his body, twisted in the air, and swung his staff at the man!

BAM!

Like a meteor falling from the sky, Malcolm was sent hurling towards the ground. And even before he reached land, Adam knew… that the man had already died.

Adam calmly descended from the sky, gradually picking up speed. However, he wasn't nervous in the least.

For he knew… that his little brother was coming for him.

WHOOSH!

Valerian, now in his winged-panther form, arrived in the blink of an eye and positioned himself beneath Adam, catching him in the air.

Adam fondly rubbed the young dragon's furry head. "I'm proud of you, Val."

Valerian grinned, flapping his wings and flying towards Blackshore. Adam lowered his head and gazed at the ground.

There, he saw Malcolm. Or whatever was left of him anyway.

In this final aerial battle, the victors were…

Adam and Valerian!
