Grand Return System-Chapter 54: The Fire Beneath Discipline
The Fire Beneath Discipline
The lake shimmered under the moonlight, the surface disturbed only by a faint breeze drifting down from the distant hills. Firelight flickered between them, casting shadows that moved like silent spirits across the grass.
Leon had been speaking for some time.
"...the circulation of Mana must remain steady. If you force it through your meridians too aggressively, your spiritual core will destabilize," he explained calmly, voice deep and measured.
But Rias wasn’t truly listening.
Her crimson eyes were fixed on him — not on his words, not on the flow of Mana he described — but on the subtle movement of his lips as he spoke. The way his long black hair fell over one shoulder. The composed authority in his posture.
He looks so serious when he teaches...
Her thoughts drifted.
Earlier, when she had nearly exposed herself before him... when she had noticed that subtle reaction beneath his robe...
Her cheeks warmed again.
He is my Teacher.
But he was also a man.
And she had seen that much.
Leon paused mid-sentence.
Silence lingered.
He looked at her.
She was staring — but unfocused. Her breathing slightly uneven. Her legs folded beneath her robe, though one smooth calf still remained visible where the silk had shifted.
"Rias," he said calmly.
No response.
"Rias."
Her eyes blinked.
She flinched slightly, startled out of her thoughts.
"You lost your focus," Leon said, arching a brow faintly. "Were you listening?"
Her heart skipped.
He noticed.
For a second, panic flickered through her. Had he sensed her thoughts? Had her expression betrayed her?
She quickly lowered her gaze.
Shaking her head, Rias tried her best to suppress the dangerous thoughts swirling in her heart and finally steadied herself.
"Alright, Teacher, please speak. I’m listening."
Her tone was composed again — noble, graceful.
She gracefully adjusted her red layered robe, pulling it tighter around her shoulders. The gold sash at her waist caught the firelight, glinting softly.
But as she shifted, the silk loosened near her thighs.
Her fair, long legs remained partially exposed beneath the robe’s slit.
It was difficult to tell whether it was intentional.
Leon’s breath stilled for a fraction of a second.
This girl...
Moonlight slid across the smooth curve of her calf, the pale skin almost luminous. The robe hugged her narrow waist tightly, and when she leaned forward slightly, the gentle rise of her chest pressed against the fabric, outlining the fullness of her boobs beneath the red silk.
It was subtle.
But impossible to ignore.
His Principal heart wavered.
She has evil intentions. This girl truly wants to seduce her teacher.
He closed his eyes briefly, inhaling deeply.
"Yeah..." Leon said after steadying himself. "As cultivators, Mana Requirement is the foundation. The early-stage Onyx Realm means that you’ve just stepped onto the immortal path. Only by reaching this realm can one learn powerful Sacred Arts."
His tone regained its steady authority.
"Your current realm is one star of Onyx Realm. Onyx Realm is divided into nine stars. After that, it will be the Astral Realm."
Rias listened attentively now — genuinely this time.
Her earlier wandering thoughts faded as she focused on his voice. The firelight reflected in her eyes, giving them a deeper glow.
"Astral Realm," Leon continued, "also known as Ethereal Enlightenment. Upon reaching this realm, your control over your aura reaches refinement. You can clearly sense changes in Mana within several kilometers. Your five senses sharpen. You perceive all directions. This realm also has nine stars."
She nodded slowly.
Although she was born into royalty, she had never been taught cultivation in detail. She had only heard fragments — whispers of realms and power, never explanations.
This was the first time someone explained it to her carefully.
And that someone... was him.
Leon went on, voice calm and steady.
"Above Astral Realm is GrandMaster Realm. As the name suggests, distance becomes meaningless. It allows super-distance movement or strikes across space. It touches the laws themselves. You will understand when you reach it. It’s too early now. Like the previous realms, it also has nine stars."
Rias leaned forward slightly, completely absorbed.
The robe shifted again.
Leon’s gaze flickered down for half a heartbeat before he forced it back to her face.
Focus.
"The King realm," he continued, "is different. It has only five stages — known as the Hidden Life Five Stages. The heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys each awaken a life spring. Aura is restrained. Power returns to simplicity. A sharp sword hidden in the heart reveals nothing."
He paused.
"I am currently in this realm."
Rias’ breath caught.
She looked at him without blinking.
Her gaze wasn’t just admiration now — it was awe.
Her Teacher... already stood at King realm.
A realm most cultivators in The Forsaken Domain would never even glimpse.
Leon shifted slightly under her intense stare.
He felt... oddly exposed.
He seriously suspected that this disciple was seducing him on purpose.
Her long legs were still visible.
Her chin slightly tilted upward.
Her expression soft — gentle, almost glowing.
Unlike Selena, whose beauty was cold and bone-chilling, Rias was warmth.
A flame that didn’t scorch instantly — but slowly consumed.
Selena’s presence forced one awake.
Rias’ presence invited one to sink deeper.
Leon felt a quiet guilt.
This is much more dangerous than Selena.
"Teacher," Rias asked softly, resting her chin lightly on her hands, elbows on her knees. "What about those above the Five Stages?"
Her voice was gentle — almost intimate in the quiet night air.
Leon inhaled again, masking the subtle stir in his body.
"Above the Five Stages is the sage Realm, also known as Venerable. Those who reach it are leaders of their respective Academies."
"Our Celestis Academy has two sages. The first is Headmaster Mike. The second is the head of Secret Sword Summit and Disciplinary Elder — Shera."
"At that level, one simplifies the Great Principal. A casual strike contains infinite depth. To enter the principal with the body. To follow the divine path. To form a system. I am the Principal."
Rias’ eyes sparkled.
"Teacher... are there realms above sage Realm?"
Her curiosity felt genuine now — innocent even.
Leon nodded slowly.
"Yes. Above sage is Pinnacle Realm. A Pinnacle among men, unparalleled in the world. It stands at the pinnacle of mortal cultivation."
He looked toward the distant mountains as he continued.
"Above Pinnacle is Martial sovereign Realm. Above that... Martial Emperor."
His voice grew quieter.
"It has been ten thousand years since a Martial Emperor Realm appeared among humans. The tribulations required are unimaginable. Cultivation is not as simple as it appears."
His gaze returned to her — sharp now.
"All the suffering, the trials, the bloodshed behind every expert’s name... you cannot imagine."
The warmth in his voice faded. Discipline replaced it.
"Rias." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She straightened immediately.
"No matter what difficulties you encounter in the future, you can only brace yourself and move forward. Even if you are riddled with wounds, you cannot retreat."
"Cultivation is defying the heavens and changing fate. If you step back even once, it becomes a bottomless abyss."
The wind stirred around them.
The fire crackled.
His voice carried weight.
"Do you understand?"
Rias felt her chest tighten.
Not from embarrassment.
Not from attraction.
But from conviction.
This was the path she had chosen.
And the man before her — steady, powerful, composed — would guide her through it.
Her playful thoughts quieted.
Her expression became firm.
"Teacher... I understand."
