God-Tier Fishing System-Chapter 589
"Our realms are suppressed by the rules. We can’t display our true strength," Risa said, her eyes fixed on the looming figure ahead.
"What should we do now?"
"You step back," Ethan replied calmly. "Leave it to me."
As his words fell, a black sword appeared in his hand, as if it had always existed there.
Jijijijiji!
The brown-green compound eyes of the Ghost Flame Insect Mother locked onto Ethan.
Her intelligence was far higher than that of the Dragon Leviathan Fish outside. Just moments ago, she had watched tens of thousands of her offspring reduced to nothing by the flames of this human.
Now, there was only one thought left in her mind.
Revenge.
"Human," a dull yet distinctly feminine voice echoed through the hall, "you invaded my territory and slaughtered my people. Today, I will devour you and use your flesh and soul as nourishment to advance to the Intermediate Demon Lord realm."
Ethan was not surprised by her ability to speak.
He merely smiled faintly. "Spare me the nonsense. If I didn’t have a few life-saving methods, I’d already be part of your digestion."
The Ghost Flame Insect Mother laughed coldly. "Very good. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a human this straightforward."
"In that case, let me see how a suppressed human—stuck at the peak of the Mahayana—plans to defeat me!"
Her demonic energy surged violently, filling the ruins hall like a tidal wave.
Ethan said nothing.
He raised a finger and drew it lightly along the edge of his sword.
Flames surged upward as terrifying sword intent erupted, instantly filling the entire space with a sharp, oppressive aura.
"Physical cultivation?" the Ghost Flame Insect Mother sneered.
"That’s right," Ethan replied indifferently. "If you’ve got eyes, take action. I’ll give you one chance."
"Arrogant human!" she hissed.
"A mere physical cultivator dares provoke me? Today, I’ll let you taste true ghost flames!"
She opened her mouth.
Dark blue flames poured out, twisting and condensing into the shapes of Ghost Flame Insects that screamed silently as they rushed toward Ethan.
The temperature in the hall skyrocketed. The air itself seemed ready to ignite.
Ethan’s figure blurred.
In the next instant, he vanished, turning into a streak of light and shadow that wove effortlessly through the dense fire without a single flame touching him.
"So fast?!" the Ghost Flame Insect Mother exclaimed in shock.
She hadn’t expected this human’s movement technique to be so exquisite. His speed was no worse than that of a Supreme powerhouse.
With a furious flap of her wings, the flames condensed into hundreds of sharp blades that filled the air, cutting off every possible escape route.
"Now let me see how you dodge this!"
The fire blades accelerated explosively.
Ethan raised his sword.
A crisp metallic hum rang out as a silver-white sword light swept through the hall.
Clang—clang—clang!
Every flaming blade was severed midair. The scattered flames were torn apart by overwhelming sword intent and dissipated into nothingness.
In the same breath, Ethan’s entire body crackled with golden lightning.
He tore through the remaining flames like a falling star, charging straight at the Ghost Flame Insect Mother.
Her pupils shrank.
"This isn’t the combat power of a Ninth-Turn Nirvana!" she thought in disbelief.
The weapon in his hand was no ordinary blade—it was at least holy-grade.
"No... he’s too fast!"
"And this space is too small for my true body!"
In an instant, she retreated, flapping her wings violently and landing atop one of the thick stone pillars, clinging to it like a shadow.
Ethan’s strike cut through empty air. He stopped and looked up calmly.
At that moment, the Ghost Flame Insect Mother’s body began to glow.
A dazzling blue light erupted, forcing everyone to avert their gaze.
When the light faded, her massive insect form was gone.
In its place stood a slender humanoid figure.
Her skin was pale with a faint bluish tint. Her long hair flowed like liquid flame, and her eyes burned with deep blue fire. A chilling, poisonous aura radiated from her every breath.
The Ghost Flame Insect Mother sneered. "Human, I admit it—you’re strong enough to force me into human form."
"But no matter how strong you are, Ninth-Turn Nirvana is still Nirvana."
"I am a Demon Lord. Today, you will die."
...
Ethan understood her reasoning perfectly.
In her true form, she could unleash terrifying power, but the ruins hall restricted her movements. Human form, though slightly weaker in raw output, was far more suitable for close-quarters combat.
Of course, she wouldn’t have transformed if her opponent were weaker.
"Human," she said coldly, "offer your life."
A bone scythe appeared in her hand.
It wasn’t a high-grade spiritual weapon—only an early immortal-grade, forged from the bones of powerful humans and nourished by demonic energy for thousands of years.
But in her hands, it was more than enough.
Whoosh!
She stepped forward and vanished.
A streak of blue light flashed to Ethan’s side as the bone scythe spun and slashed down with lethal precision.
Clang!
Ethan raised his sword and blocked the strike effortlessly.
The Ghost Flame Insect Mother’s eyes flickered. She immediately changed tactics, retracting the scythe and twisting her body.
Her leg lashed out like an iron whip, carrying ferocious demonic energy that tore through the air with a shrill whistle.
If an ordinary Ninth-Turn cultivator were hit, their body would shatter instantly.
Ethan didn’t dodge.
He extended his left hand.
Snap!
His fingers closed around her ankle.
The Ghost Flame Insect Mother’s expression changed dramatically.
"What?! That strength—how is this possible?!"
She poured demonic energy into her leg, struggling desperately, yet she couldn’t break free.
Ethan’s grip was like an immovable mountain.
He sneered.
The Celestial Jade Physique Scripture roared to life within him. Original Power surged and star power flooded every inch of his body.
Golden arcs danced wildly around his hand.
Even with his realm suppressed, the sheer strength of his body, combined with the power of the stars, was enough to contend with an Intermediate Demon Lord.
