Chapter 940: BONUS Chapter: Across the Dark Ocean, Darkness Lies in Different Colors.
The dark sea churned and frothed furiously...
It crashed against the cliffs, beating against the weathered rocks until their surfaces were smooth enough to see one’s reflection in.
This land was far. Far away from the City of Zoan. And the Eastern Continent the city was located in.
Far away from even the cliffs, there was what had once been a mega city, sprawling across a huge basin from end to end.
The city, City M, also known as the City of Meridian, was now a ghost town.
The streets and houses were empty, and there was no signs of life, save for the structure at the city’s center.
Towards the center of the city, movement finally appeared.
However, that didn’t mean there was life.
No. In fact, if was the opposite.
The groans and growls of the undead rose into the grey skies like an unholy prayer.
Even the air above the City seemed to be pervaded by the rot of their decomposing mouths.
Scattered across, roaming the city as well, were terrifying, hulking Devil Beasts.
These were creatures that had mutated not just due to mana, but also to Devil Essence as well.
The Beast equivalent of a Devil Corrupted.
Some were as small as humans, their scales or fur blackened and dripping with dark Devil Essence.
Others were as large as buildings. Lumbering behemoths with twisted countenances and a lofty presence of chaos and destruction surrounding them.
At the very center of the city was an enormous twisting black spire, much similar to the one that had existed at the center of City Z.
However, this one was much larger, and jvered a greater area of land than the one that had been in City Z.
It stretched past the clouds and cut right through the grey blankets of god ash, practically scraping the heavens.
Several dark protrusions and platforms were attached to the side of the spire.
The Devils within this spire were countless times greater in number than those that had been within City Z.
It was very obvious what had happened here.
However, it all that was not convincing enough, there presence of an abominable thing in the sky right above the Devil Spire would be more than enough.
With a single glance, it would be rather difficult to know what it was.
It was enormous.
Its body was black and even from the ground, one could tell that its surface was constantly undulating and squirming.
From the surface of its body jutted out growths leaking out a black ooze that poured from the skies like a sickening waterfall.
At the center of this abominable thing, was an eye.
An eye with three irises, the first was a devilish red, crimson like the color of blood. The next one was a fervent violet. The last one was a deep black. Black that swallowed light itself.
The irises constantly swam in the whites of the eye, each one looking like it pisses its own consciousness.
It was hard to tell if this thing was alive or not, but there was one thing for sure;
It was not supposed to be here.
Not in this world.
Not in this reality.
The blackened flesh of the giant orb-like thing squirmed and struggled, as though whatever was in it was trying its hardest to break free.
However, it was kept within.
The light from each iris spread to every part of the city. The red and the violet cast a terrifying glow on the City, illuminating it like the colors of dusk.
While the light from the dark one deepened the shadows that stretched out infinitely.
Within each and every one of these shadows, something moved and squirmed.
Like there was something hidden within it. Just waiting for anything to approach before it lunged out and sink its teeth in.
The rest of the City of Meridian was in completely still.
Only the shadows moved eeriely.
The giant eyeball in the sky and the still city beneath it was just one of hundreds of cases scattered around the world.
Just like the City of Zoan, the City of Meridian was a major city, with a population density in the millions.
However, that didn’t mean smaller cities and towns were any safer.
In one city, the ground was completely covered in pools of rotting human flesh and black blood with strange runes dancing within the ichor.
A Towering Devil Spire cut through the clouds.
Surrounding the city was a roaring army of ferocious looking Devils, their eyes glowing red and countless vile runic symbols dancing in their exoskeletal armor.
In another city , in another distant continent, the world had been reduced into a frozen Hell.
Countless humanoids sculptures of solid ice were scattered across the city. On their faces were frozen, expressions of confusion, panic, despair, fear and resignation.
Forever locked in stagnancy for all of eternity
At the center of the city was a spire of dark ice.
Seated in an ice throne within the Spire was a slumbering {Ice Devil}.
It was large and had very obvious feminine traits.
When its eyes snapped open, the world seemed to freeze over.
A wave of frosty air spread out, covering and entrenching all in a wicked scourge of True Ice.
In similar fashion, countless over Devil Spires rose from the ground, piercing through the clouds and into the sky, slowly draining the life and essence from the very roots of the world itself, changing and transforming the terrain to how they saw fit.
However, not everything was bleak.
On a distant continent, in a distance city... freewёbnoνel.com
Standing on a towering rampart made of enchanted wood, a man with a deep scar running across his face stood, his eyes burning with a cold flame.
His gaze seems powerful enough to pierce the horizon, flying beyond the mountains and rivers towards the edge of the world.
Behind him, cries of merriment and jubilation shook the heavens and rang through the world as the humans celebrated their liberation from devilish tyranny.
On the tip of several long spike, were gruesome, malevolent heads, faces twisted like curses.
The humans paraded around, shouting and screaming.
The man didn’t seem to mind it at all. He remained that way for a long time. Then he turned away.
Beneath the rampart, those who had actually participated in the battle to crush the Devils stood solemnly behind him.
The cold flame in his eyes burned brighter as he raised his arm.
In another city, the flames of war had yet to die out completely.
An enormous Winged beast that resembled a lion and a hawk lifted its maw to the sky and let out a thunderous roar that shook the world.
On its back was a woman dressed completely in battered battle armor and blood.
Raising her enormous axe, she roared furiously and pointed forward.
The army behind her swarmed furiously, cutting down the last of the army of Devils.
Just like that, countless scenes played out in different ways across the world of Urbus.
"The inception has finally been completed and the old world order had been thoroughly extinguished..."
"The first stage is completed. The second stage has begun in earnest."
"This is..."
"The Birth of The New World."
"The New Urbus."
