GLOBAL AWAKENING: My 10,000x Exp Multiplier-Chapter 79: []First Minister Felix’s Treason, Shadows in the Sanctuary
The eightieth floor of the Chronos Spire was completely filled with white gold light.
Vahn Ryker stood completely still. His dark combat jacket stood out greatly against the bright room.
He did not draw his Soul Bound Shadow Blade. He just kept his hands resting casually in his pockets, staring at the glowing projection of the Alien AI.
[System Key localization confirmed.]
[Terrestrial interference bypassed.]
[Initiating immediate extraction of the Vessel.]
The mechanical voice did not echo through the room. Instead, it vibrated directly within the base code of Vahn’s neural link. It was a cold and absolute command from the engine that governed the Galactic Arena.
Vahn’s expression did not shift into panic. The robotic detachment he used to survive the lower floors completely vanished, replaced by a terrifying and deeply human fury.
The Spire was not trying to fight him anymore. It realized he was an unkillable anomaly and an Administrator it could not easily delete. So, it decided to bypass him entirely and go straight for his sister.
"You are not taking her." Vahn stated in a low and lethal voice that promised absolute ruin.
[Warning.]
[Administrator Privileges restricted on Floor 80.]
[Spatial lockdown engaged.]
The white gold light of the arena violently solidified.
To Vahn’s Verdant Chronos Sight, the geometric wireframes of the room suddenly locked together, forming an impenetrable cage of heavily encrypted data. The AI was quarantining him to buy time for the extraction.
Miles below, within the protected dome of the White City, the illusion of absolute safety was shattering.
The penthouse of the Sovereign National Bank was typically a quiet and highly organized sanctuary.
Hana Ryker sat at the massive glass dining table. Her fingers danced across the holographic logistics terminal as she allocated clean water and synthesized rations to the five thousand refugees sheltering below.
The legendary Sun Silk Aegis draped over her shoulders hummed with a comforting and protective warmth.
Aria stood near the shattered floor to ceiling windows. The sweet and grounding scent of cherry blossoms radiated from her Crimson Lotus Vestments. She was reviewing the medical triage reports, her emerald eyes scanning the data with sharp professional focus.
Sia Vance stood by the heavy oak doors. Her massive obsidian kite shield rested against her leg. The Vanguard was perfectly still, her silver grey eyes tracking the perimeter.
Everything was perfect. Until the heavy oak doors unlocked with a sharp unauthorized click.
Sia moved instantly. She did not ask for identification. She hefted her heavy shield and her secondary short sword whispered out of its sheath as she dropped her center of gravity.
"Hold your position. Unauthorized entry detected."
The doors swung open and a group of ten heavily armored men stepped into the penthouse.
They did not wear the makeshift scrap gear of the refugees. They wore sleek and dark armor radiating a sickly corrupted purple aura.
The emblem of the Evil Demons guild was etched into their breastplates. They were a notorious faction of high level assassins who had survived the Convergence by embracing the abyssal data.
Standing safely behind the line of assassins was First Minister Felix.
Before the world ended, Felix had been a prominent politician in Sovereign City. When Vahn established the White City, Felix immediately surrendered and offered his administrative skills to help organize the civilian population.
He had played the role of the humbled and grateful survivor perfectly.
Now, his pathetic facade was gone. He held a jagged and pulsing black crystal in his right hand, a smug and arrogant sneer twisting his features.
"Stand down, Vanguard." Felix ordered, his voice dripping with condescension.
"The Faction’s internal wards have been disabled. I manually overrode the security grid using the Administrator’s own logistical network."
"Treason." Sia stated, her voice a cold military bark.
The obsidian shield flared with a terrifying white hot thermal energy. "You have betrayed the sanctuary. You will be reduced to ash."
"Don’t be dramatic, girl." Felix laughed, stepping fully into the room while keeping his heavily armored guards between himself and the Vanguard.
"I am merely securing a better deal. Vahn Ryker thinks he can fight the Galactic Market. He thinks he can hoard this city’s resources and play God. But the Alpha offered me a seat at the table."
"Pierce Valerius understands the hierarchy. The Overlords require a tribute. They require the core."
Aria stepped forward, her wooden staff flaring with blinding pink gold light. She positioned herself squarely in front of Hana.
Her heart hammered against her ribs, but her emerald eyes burned with fierce and stubborn determination.
"You are a fool!" Aria snapped, the air around her dropping in temperature as her mana surged.
"The Syndicate is broken. Vahn destroyed their army. He humiliated the Alpha. You are tying your fate to a dead faction."
"The Alpha still commands the Starmark connection!" Felix roared, his composure cracking slightly.
He raised the pulsing black crystal. "He granted me this localized spatial tear. The Overlords don’t care about our petty wars. They only want the System Key."
"Hand over the girl, and the Evil Demons guild will let you live to serve in the new empire."
Hana stood up from the terminal. She did not look terrified. She looked extremely annoyed.
She placed her hands on her hips, her dark purple eyes narrowing at the treacherous politician.
"You really didn’t think this through, did you?" Hana sighed, shaking her head.
"You brought ten assassins into a closed room with my Prime Vanguard and my Prime Healer. My brother is going to be so disappointed in you."
"Kill the guards. Secure the target!" Felix commanded, his face flushing a violent shade of purple.
The ten assassins surged forward, drawing serrated daggers that dripped with corrupted anti healing venom.
They moved with the terrifying speed of high level rogues, fanning out to bypass Sia’s shield and strike directly at the backline.
[Faction Comms: Initiating Secure Uplink.]
Vahn’s voice crackled through the earpieces of the three women. He sounded strained.
The heavy exertion of fighting the Spire’s absolute spatial lock bled into his tone. But beneath the exhaustion, there was a cold and terrifying promise of violence.
"Sia. Aria. Maintain the perimeter." Vahn ordered.
"Commander." Sia replied, her voice perfectly calm as she tracked the incoming assassins.
"Internal breach confirmed. Hostile entities are attempting to secure the System Key."
"I see them." Vahn’s voice echoed. "Hold the line. Do not let them touch her. I am breaking the floor."
Sia did not hesitate. She lunged forward to meet the vanguard of the assassins, her shield raised like an impenetrable wall.
Aria slammed her staff into the marble floor, a massive wave of golden restorative magic flooding the room to negate the assassins’ stealth modifiers.
The battle for the White City’s core had begun, and the Architect was entirely out of patience.
