Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!-Chapter 37: D15. Surviving a great disaster
Chapter 37: D15. Surviving a great disaster
"Hmm, I originally thought you were one of our kind who could transform, but it seems you possess some miraculous powers, human."
The body of the White Snake looming overhead was so large it almost blocked out all sunlight, and its ice-blue vertical pupils reflected the entire figure of the Hero.
But there was no malice in the eyes of this Fantasy Species, only curiosity and a touch of affinity.
"Ah." However, the Hero could see her own expression freeze in that ice-blue mirror.
The essence of a Beast Spirit Mage's power is hunting life, then swallowing its soul, dominating its information, and ultimately integrating it into oneself.
Since it's an innate talent, it's also a part of the natural order.
Just as her brother had said, although her abilities were discarded like an old shoe in the Viscount's House, they held considerable value to other Nobles.
But having value and being appealing are two different things. The Hero, having received a Noble education, did not view this as an ability that could endear one to people, let alone Magic Creatures.
Realizing that the White Snake had seen through the nature of her powers, she was momentarily filled with apprehension, praying that her companions in the Bird Carriage behind her wouldn't suffer because of her.
However, although the Hero could transform into a Magic Creature and was often dominated by the instincts of the Beast Spirit, she clearly couldn't completely view things from the perspective of a Magic Creature, nor could she guess what the White Snake in front of her thought of her.
Whether it was amongst ordinary snakes or amongst higher-level Magic Creatures, cannibalism and strife among their own kind were quite normal occurrences.
Killing prey, feeding on flesh and blood, and transforming it into one's own nourishment is a matter of course.
Humans hunting Magic Creatures, Magic Creatures hunting humans, humans killing each other, and Magic Creatures killing their own kind.
Although there might be people who are disillusioned with this cruel world, attempting to define everything with good and evil, to the White Snake, sometimes things are not that complicated.
Alive, or dead, that's all there is to it.
So currently, the White Snake had no intention of harming the Hero but instead happily flicked out its tongue, keenly sensing the scent of the girl.
"A human who has inherited the soul of our kind, I like your scent."
'I, I don't taste good,' the Hero said with a shiver, quickly speaking with a strained voice.
But sensing the other's gentle disposition, the Hero realized the White Snake had no intention of causing trouble.
She first breathed a sigh of relief, then nervously and curiously spoke up.
'May I ask, why would such a powerful being appear in a place like this?'
[The purpose of the White Snake is——]
1-3. Perception of Dragon Slayer's lineage
4-8. Has some business to attend to, just passing by♛
9. A space tunnel appeared in a nearby cave
10. Critical Success/Extreme Failure

Behind, as the Hero confronted the White Snake, the Little Girl and the Guards cautiously peeked their heads out from the carriage.
And the coachman, having been thrown out and now coming back to his senses, almost wanted to bury himself in the ground, acting just like the two Chocobos, daring only to secretly lift their heads through the gaps between their arms to watch.
But at this moment, everyone was watching the scene of the Hero conversing with the White Snake.
"That is, at least, a... High-tier Magic Creature..." Guard A spoke with a tremor in a sweat-covered voice.
"You really haven't been back to the Border for so long, forgot what a high-level Magic Creature looks like? Definitely not just that." Guard B replied with a rigid face.
"How did she manage that?"
And the Little Girl was no longer focused on her discomfort, her eyes sparkling brightly as she watched this scene.

"If you're talking about conversing with a snake, I've heard that high-level Magicians, knowledgeable Mages, Druids, and some special Professions can do it," whispered Guard C in reply.
"But such a young girl, could she be such a Professional? She doesn't look much older than Missy," Guard Ding wondered aloud.
Tension, anticipation, unease, fear, curiosity... Under the watchful eyes of everyone mixed with various emotions, an abrupt change occurred.
The giant body of the White Snake suddenly began to move, the earth trembling under its movements, its mountainous body coiling up and swallowing the Hero directly into the mountain of white scales reflecting sunlight.
The scene looked as if a doll had been thrown into a mixer capable of crushing rocks—such an arcane device commonly seen at the Border—nobody would believe the doll could escape from being turned to dust,

And then the giant White Snake released a pure white and crystal-clear icy mist from between its scales.
It seemed as though her figure was shrouded in a misty mountain of clouds; even those close by couldn't see clearly.
As they watched the Hero's figure being swallowed, the Little Girl couldn't help but cry out in alarm, the Guard beside her hastening to cover her mouth.
"Did negotiations fall through!? We'll cover the rear, take the Miss and run—"
Without any hesitation, seeing what they imagined to be the worst-case scenario unfold, the Guards briskly prepared to draw swords and face the enemy.
The coachman let out a short cry, a sound that the Gargoyles would enjoy, nearly fainting on the spot like the two Chocobos.
"Hold on, everyone! Look there!"
But the Little Girl struggled free from the Guard's restraint, her eyes never having left the scene, with the child's unique sharpness she noticed something wrong.
With her prompt, they halted their actions and refocused on the direction of the White Snake.
Before they knew it, the clouds above had been pushed away by the wind,
The crystal-clear sunlight at the end of autumn shone upon the ice mist, and although not as brilliant as the summer sun, the mist was quickly dispersed.
