Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!-Chapter 21: D10. Mourning Melody
Chapter 21: D10. Mourning Melody
In this desolate battlefield ruin, screams and wails haven't resounded for a long time.
With the end of the war and the coming of peace, the long years that followed left nothing here but emptiness and silence.
Therefore, when the air suddenly echoed with the sound waves of a Goblin's screams, the nearby slumbering stone colossus immediately perceived the aftermath of the blood battle.
Though carved into a bestial shape, the gargoyle lacks eyelids. A red light ignited in its inorganic stone pupils, rotating toward the source of the noise.
It possesses a towering stone-carved body, with large wings on its back. Though devoid of the power of flight, these wings add to its intimidating presence, making iron longswords seem as fragile as toothpicks in front of its massive stone form.
The beastly face, full of cracks, couldn't hide its fierce fangs, and one strike from its robust beast claws could incapacitate an armored guard. Its body exhibited a dark blue metallic gleam rather than that of stone.
Heading towards the direction of the screams, the gargoyle began to charge, its steps heavy, leaving deep footprints in the ground and sending dust and gravel into the air.
Although the Goblin's wails were less appealing than spoilt food in a sewer to it, nonetheless, it signified that someone was being slaughtered.
As a gargoyle, the trait of the magic creatures compelled it not to stray too far from its assigned area, although it has been deserted for ages.
It has been a long time since it felt the wailing of warriors.
The craving for blood and lament accelerated the gargoyle's pace, soon reaching its destination.
But what emerged from the goblin's encirclement was — a snake?

After breaking free, the hero moved along the ground at a speed akin to a loosed arrow in the eyes of the goblins, easily covering hundreds of meters before vanishing from the little devils' sight.
Suddenly, however, a thick beastly stone leg appeared before her.
"Sss—" The hero stopped her slithering. There was no light of intelligence in her snake eyes, which simply reflected the massive silhouette of the gargoyle.

And the eyes of the gargoyle, although not reflecting its surroundings like those of living creatures, clearly locked onto the hero's figure.
The snake that doesn't wail — it was not so.
It once stood watch over a military camp, and within its stone body, in addition to the instincts of a magic creature, many scenes it had observed were recorded.
It knew humans had various professions and abilities, including those who could transform into other forms, such as Druids, Magicians, and Mages with transfiguration spells...
This snake before it, without a doubt, was such a human.
A delightful creator that would emit agonizing yet pleasant screams!
The gargoyle's mouth split open, emitting a sharp, wailing cry akin to howling, and without warning, its beast claw swung fiercely at Big Snake!
[The Wailing Stone Beast launches skill: Mourning Melody]
Its roar was like a chorus of ghosts and monsters, an undoubted demonic sound that would torment the human brain and stain the heart with madness.
A mental attack aimed at humans, capable of shaking the very spirit.
No normal human could turn a deaf ear to the screams of their kind.
Once the spirit is shaken, vulnerabilities appear, and subsequent attacks can strike in these moments of weakness.
But no such change occurred in the hero's mind; she simply stared blankly as the beast claw grew larger in her pupils.
[The hero's limited intelligence grants her an exemption.]

Lacking human intellect, but when danger loomed, the hero, transformed into Green Snake, reacted instinctively to the wild threat,
She could sense the immense strength in the gargoyle's stone body, and the powerful Magic Power contained within!
However, the heat-sensing trait of snakes couldn't detect a stone-carved Magic Statue, and caught off guard, the hero was fiercely struck by the heavy beast claw, almost cleaved in two on the spot.
If it were an ordinary human or creature, the outcome under the gargoyle's strike would not fare much better than those goblins assaulted by the hero.
A blow from the hammer-like beast claw could shatter the fragile human body, turning the contents into a scattered spray of blood rain.
However, the hero's body was not of mere flesh, but an Etheric body constructed of Magic Power.
Even if she sustained a would-be-fatal blow to the original creature, she could quickly heal as long as she paid Magic Power.
Beast Spirit Mage, an Innate Profession whose combat style is hardly elegant and is fraught with limitations, almost devoid of noteworthy advantages.
But as long as her Magic Power doesn't run dry, she will not lose the Strength to resist!
The flattened snake body reinflated like a blowup doll, and the unwittingly afflicted hero raised her head in fury.

Beating a snake follows the stick.
True to this adage, the Big Snake struck by the Stone Beast neither fled nor retaliated directly, but instead instinctively coiled around the gargoyle's solid beast leg, quickly winding upward!
