Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 94: Baofeng vs. Thunder Dragon
"AWOO! ROAR!"
Another earth-shattering roar echoed out, carrying the force of a thunderbolt. It was mixed with the howling of fierce winds and the crackle of electricity.
This sound was filled with majesty and dominance, a stark contrast to the previous screech.
The Knights all stood up, their hands subconsciously reaching for the Weapons at their waists.
They were all experienced warriors. From the sound alone, they could tell that something extraordinary was happening outside.
Just then, the doors to the banquet hall were thrown open with a bang. A Knight responsible for guarding the castle’s perimeter scrambled in, his armor stained with fresh dirt and grass, his face a mask of panic and anxiety.
"M-My Lord! S-Something’s wrong!"
The Knight was gasping for breath.
Raylo’s brow furrowed.
"What’s the panic? Speak slowly. What happened?"
The Knight took a few ragged breaths and pointed outside.
"It’s... It’s your Storm Griffin King, my lord! It... it’s fighting with His Highness’s Thunder Dragon!"
The moment he spoke, the entire hall was stunned.
The Storm Griffin King?
’Isn’t that Baron Raylo’s Magical Beast?’
’And the Thunder Dragon is His Highness the Prince’s Contracted Magical Beast.’
’How could these two powerful Magical Beasts, meeting for the first time, suddenly start fighting in the Black Stone Territory?’
Eliot shot to his feet. The chair, knocked over by his sudden movement, scraped loudly against the floor.
His face was ashen as he asked, word by word, "What did you say?!"
The reporting Knight shivered under Eliot’s icy gaze but still forced himself to repeat the words.
"It’s... It’s absolutely true! The Storm Griffin King suddenly appeared above the castle, and then... then it started fighting with Lord Dragon, who was resting in the stables!"
"It’s complete chaos outside now!"
Raylo was also stunned. He never would have imagined that his Storm Griffin King would cause such a huge mess, much less pick a fight directly with His Highness’s Thunder Dragon!
’Did its battlelust get so strong after advancing to Tier Four that it even dares to take on a Giant Dragon?’
’This is just...’
As he thought this, Raylo realized something was wrong.
’Even though he’s now a Tier Four Magical Beast, Baofeng would never proactively provoke a Giant Dragon. Unless...’
Raylo subconsciously glanced at where Moonlight had just been, stuffing its face until it was greasy.
At some point, Moonlight had vanished.
The atmosphere in the banquet hall instantly dropped to a freezing point.
The Knights of the Thunder Dragon Knight Order looked at each other in dismay. Having traveled with Eliot, they were well aware of the foul temper of His Highness’s Thunder Dragon.
And the Storm Griffin King, as a powerful Magical Beast capable of contending with a Giant Dragon, was clearly no pushover either.
If these two apex predators truly went at it, the entire Black Stone Castle would probably be destroyed.
"Raylo."
Eliot’s voice was tight with suppressed fury.
"Your Magical Beast seems to have quite the personality."
Raylo rubbed his nose.
"The two Magical Beasts are just meeting for the first time. They’re probably just playing around."
Eliot snorted coldly and was the first to stride outside.
The Knights of the Thunder Dragon Knight Order, no longer caring about the fine wine and food on the table, followed close behind him out of the hall. A battle between Giant Beasts of this Level was a rare sight.
Inside the banquet hall, only Raylo and a few officials from the Black Stone Territory remained, looking at each other in bewilderment.
"My Lord, this..."
Ed drew near, a worried look on his face.
Raylo sighed and waved his hand dismissively.
"What else can we do? Let’s go take a look first. Hopefully, those two are just roughhousing and not actually trying to kill each other."
He said that, but in his heart, he wasn’t confident at all.
’That little troublemaker Moonlight is definitely behind this mess.’
The castle’s massive stone gates were wide open. As the group filed out, a gale mixed with the smell of scorched earth and dust slammed into them.
The night sky was a roiling cauldron of chaos.
Dark clouds pressed down from above, interwoven with purple lightning and cyan light, like two furious Giant Dragons tearing at each other within the clouds.
Every collision produced a deafening boom and an ear-splitting screech.
"BOOM!"
A thick bolt of Lightning, like a spear of divine punishment, scraped past the castle’s tallest spire, sending stone fragments and sparks flying.
The gale that followed swept up the Stone Slabs paving the square, tossing them into the air as easily as a child’s toys before they crashed back down.
The two normally neat and imposing Knight statues at the entrance were now askew, and one had even been snapped in half at the waist.
The moment Raylo stepped through the gates, he was hit by an intense wave of Magic Power so oppressive it was hard to breathe.
He narrowed his eyes, trying his best to peer into the chaotic sky.
High in the air, a Giant Dragon covered in cyan Scale Armor, its body lithe and powerful and its wings whipping up countless serpents of electricity, was locked in a fierce battle with a Griffin. Though slightly smaller, the Griffin was just as ferocious, wreathed in a cyan-black storm.
They were none other than His Highness Prince Elliot’s Thunder Dragon and Raylo’s Storm Griffin King.
With every breath, the Thunder Dragon unleashed a blinding bolt of Lightning, lunging at its opponent with destructive Power.
The Storm Griffin King, meanwhile, expertly rode the gales, at times conjuring massive Wind Blades to tear through the sky, at others transforming into a cyan shadow to dodge and weave amidst the lightning.
"My heavens..."
Old Mayor Buck, following behind Raylo, watched the apocalyptic scene before him, his voice trembling.
The square had long since descended into chaos.
A few daring guards tried to get closer but were sent flying by the battle’s aftershocks, left dazed and confused.
From the direction of the stables came waves of panicked neighs. The Pegasi, normally so magnificent, were now cowering and trembling in the corners of their stalls, looking as if they wanted to bury their heads in the hay.
The Iron Feathered Eagles brought by the Thunder Dragon Knight Order had also given the death zone a wide berth, cawing in terror from the haystacks at the edge of the castle grounds.
Several houses near the square had their roofs completely torn off by the gales. Their walls were pocked with large, charred holes from lightning strikes, and some had even begun to burn, billowing thick smoke.
Raylo focused his gaze.
On the Storm Griffin King’s broad back, a blurry white figure bobbed up and down with the Griffin’s violent movements.
Despite the great distance and the turbulent air currents, Raylo recognized it in a single glance.
That streamlined silhouette, that flash of silver seen intermittently amidst the sparks and lightning—who else could it be but that rascal, Moonlight!
’I knew it!’
Raylo didn’t know whether to be angry or amused.
’Besides me, the only one who can command the Storm Griffin King is that little troublemaker, Moonlight.’
In the brief moment he was stunned, the situation on the battlefield changed.
The Thunder Dragon was a Giant Dragon, after all. In terms of both Power and the sheer volume of its Magic Power, it outclassed the Storm Griffin King, which had only just advanced to Tier Four.
The Thunder Dragon let out a soul-shaking roar, and with a powerful beat of its wings, countless bolts of lightning rained down from the sky, weaving a massive electric net that completely enveloped the Storm Griffin King.
"SCREEE!"
The Storm Griffin King let out a pained cry. The storm around it was instantly torn apart, and several bolts of lightning struck it squarely. Feathers flew, and there was even a faint smell of something burning.
Its massive body staggered in mid-air, and it nearly plummeted to the ground.
’Not good!’
Raylo’s heart tightened.
A cold, triumphant smile finally appeared on Eliot’s face.
The members of the Thunder Dragon Knight Order behind him also showed expressions of relief.
It was a Giant Dragon, after all—one of the strongest among Magical Beasts of the same tier.
Eliot’s contracted Thunder Dragon was currently in its Growth Stage, placing it within the bounds of a Tier Four Magical Beast.
To most of the onlookers, it seemed this farce was finally about to end with the Thunder Dragon’s victory.
However, just as the Storm Griffin King was faltering and the Thunder Dragon prepared to launch its final attack...
But then, the unexpected happened!
