Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 111 - 108: The Dragon Descendant Knight Inheritance
After about a hundred meters, the way ahead opened up.
A spacious, circular hall appeared before the two of them.
The hall’s domed ceiling was high, but its center had collapsed, spilling stone and earth onto the floor below.
Under the glow of the Magic Illumination Stone, the full view of the hall gradually came into focus.
The most striking feature was the massive mural encircling the hall’s inner walls.
The mural’s colors had long since faded, and large sections had peeled away or were damaged, but its depicted scenes were still discernible.
In the first mural, diminutive human figures prostrated themselves on the ground, worshipping a Giant Dragon in the sky. The creature’s form dominated the frame; whether soaring high in the heavens or coiled atop a mountain peak, its posture radiated majesty and divinity. The humans offered it all manner of sacrifices, worshipping it as they would a Divine Spirit.
Ed looked on with some discomfort, his brow furrowed.
"Are these... people worshipping Giant Dragons?"
Raylo’s gaze swept over the mural.
"Keep looking," he said in a low voice.
The scene changed abruptly in the following murals.
Flames and blood became the dominant colors.
A host of Giants—several times the height of humans, clad in thick fur or Scale Armor, and with savage features—were rampaging across the land, wielding massive Weapons.
They destroyed human villages and carried off women and children. The scenes were filled with despair and brutality.
Interspersed between these murals of the Giants’ atrocities were other scenes.
Under the protection of the Giant Dragons, humanity engaged in a life-or-death struggle against the savage Giants.
Giant Dragons spat devastating Dragon Breath, their powerful claws tearing the Giants asunder. And among them fought strange-looking humans—some clad in Scale Armor, some with twin horns, others who had even grown wings. They bravely charged enemies far larger than themselves, all under the cover of the Giant Dragons.
The final mural depicted a grand celebration.
The Giants were gone. Humanity cheered and rejoiced, rebuilding their homes under the watchful gaze of the Giant Dragons. Sunlight bathed the land, creating a scene of peace and harmony.
"So that’s how it was."
Raylo gazed at the murals, lost in thought.
"This must be a Temple of the Dragon Worship Cult from the Ancient Era. In that age, the Giant Race ruled this land. The Human Race was weak, so they could only survive by attaching themselves to the powerful Giant Dragons. They offered faith and sacrifices in exchange for the dragons’ protection to jointly fight against the Giants."
Ed listened, dumbfounded. To see these secrets, which had only existed in ancient legends, displayed so vividly before his very eyes was a lot to take in all at once.
"An era when Giants ruled the land... Just how long ago was that?"
he murmured, his voice filled with reverence for that distant past.
Raylo gave a slight nod, his gaze sweeping across the hall.
In the center of the hall was a stone platform resembling an altar, but it was completely empty.
Scattered about were shards of pottery and metal fragments, most of them rusted and decayed beyond recognition.
"Look around. See if anything was left behind,"
Raylo instructed.
The two began to search the hall carefully.
Ed moved aside a few fallen stones and found a rotted wooden chest pinned beneath them. He excitedly opened it, only to find a pile of unidentifiable items that had turned to dust and a few ancient coins so covered in verdigris they crumbled at his touch. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Sir, it looks like... there’s nothing of value left here."
Ed was disappointed.
Raylo wasn’t surprised.
After eons of erosion, very few things could have survived.
Near the altar, he found several heavily worn bone tiles inscribed with runes. The symbols were too blurry to read, but they seemed to be some sort of ritual object.
On either side of the hall were several doorways sealed with stone blocks, which appeared to lead to other rooms.
"Let’s check that one."
Raylo pointed to a doorway on the left.
Ed immediately stepped forward and pushed with all his might against the stone blocking the entrance.
With a harsh, grating SCRAPE, an opening just wide enough for one person to pass through was revealed.
Inside was a small, equally empty stone chamber. There was nothing but a few rotted wooden shelves and broken stone tools. It had clearly been ransacked before, or its contents had long since turned to dust.
They checked several more rooms, but the results were all largely the same.
Other than a few worthless, broken artifacts, they found nothing.
Ed’s initial excitement gradually faded into dejection.
"Looks like this place was either abandoned long ago or picked clean by later visitors."
Ed sighed.
Raylo didn’t respond. His gaze had fallen upon the inner wall of the last room.
This room was smaller than the others and had almost no furnishings, but its rearmost wall was unusual.
The wall wasn’t made from a single, massive block of stone. Instead, it was assembled from many Stone Slabs of varying sizes, all polished smooth. The seams between them were tight, and their surfaces were covered in carved patterns and ancient script.
"This is..."
Raylo stepped forward, reaching out to brush his fingertips lightly across the cool Stone Slab.
Raylo’s breathing quickened slightly.
"Ed, if I’m not mistaken, this must be what we’re looking for!"
He carefully examined the script and patterns on the Stone Slabs.
This ancient script was completely different from the modern writing system—it was far older and more complex. Raylo recalled seeing similar records in his family’s ancient archives.
As he continued to decipher the text, Raylo’s heart began to beat faster and faster.
Recorded on these Stone Slabs was nothing less than a complete training system for a Knight!
It was called the "Dragon Knight Inheritance"!
