Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 287: Photo Frame
The first thing Lana noticed was herself.
She stood frozen, staring at her reflection, her breath shallow.
The surroundings were lavish beyond reason.
White silk drapes cascaded along the walls of what looked like a ship-like ceremonial hall, soft and luminous, swaying faintly as though touched by an unseen breeze.
If someone asked for a fairy tale wedding venue, then it was definitely the one in front of her.
’What... is this place?’
She could hear distant murmurs, the low hum of many voices, as if countless people had gathered somewhere nearby.
Confusion crept into her chest just as a calm voice echoed beside her.
"Are you ready?"
Lana startled and turned her head. "Ready for what?"
Her eyes searched for the source of the sound, landing on a young man standing not far away.
Before she could ask more, the same voice spoke again, closer this time.
"I am the priest."
Her heart skipped. When Lana turned fully around, she froze.
Standing before her was a man in ceremonial robes, his expression solemn.
And in that exact moment, she felt a strange chill ripple over her skin.
She glanced down... and her breath caught in her throat.
The clothes she had been wearing were gone.
In their place was a breathtaking silver wedding gown, the fabric flowing like liquid moonlight around her body.
The dress hugged her perfectly; under dreamy light they looked mesmerizing.
Her long silver hair spilled freely down her back, glossy and soft, framing her face like something out of a fairytale.
A diamond necklace rested against her collarbone.
If not for the mirror nearby, Lana would not have recognized herself at all.
She stared at her reflection, disbelief flooding her senses.
’Is this really me?’
"You are about to be married," the priest announced calmly.
Lana snapped out of her daze, her eyes sharpening instantly. "Married?" She glared at him. "To whom?"
As soon as the words left her lips, the massive church doors creaked open.
Light poured in.
And then she saw him.
Lucian walked inside with unhurried confidence, dressed in a simple yet elegant suit that perfectly matched the silver of her gown.
For a fleeting moment, reality blurred, and Lana felt a strange illusion... as if they truly belonged together like this, as if this scene had always existed somewhere in time.
Her breath hitched.
Lucian stopped in front of her and extended his hand.
Without hesitation, Lana placed her hand in his.
She looked up at him, confusion swirling in her eyes. "What’s going on?"
He smiled faintly. "We’re getting married."
Shock slammed into her.
Her lips parted, then closed again.
Not a single word came out. After a few seconds, she finally forced herself to speak.
"Why are we getting married? What date is it today?"
Deep down, her heart whispered something dangerous.
’Please let this be a vision... not just a dream. Something that can come true.’
Lucian’s voice remained calm. "It’s 2035. Today is special."
His gaze softened. "You should remember it."
Lana frowned. "That’s strange..."
What special day? But what made her stunned was... for the first time she felt as if Lucian... was completely conscious...
She paused, then added quietly in her heart, ’And why isn’t my uncle here?’
Lucian chuckled. "If you’re wondering why he isn’t here to walk you down the aisle, he’s busy."
Her eyes narrowed. "How do you even know what I was thinking?"
Lucian smiled, almost amused. "Because we can hear each other’s thoughts."
Her heart jolted. She stared at him, eyes wide and searching. "Are you... the real Lucian?" Her voice dropped. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Did you hear everything?"
He frowned slightly, clearly confused. "The real Lucian?"
The moment he repeated those words, Lana’s tense expression eased.
’There’s no way both Lucians could exist at the same time,’ she reassured herself.
She exhaled and glanced toward the priest. "If we’re getting married, why hasn’t he started yet?"
Lucian laughed softly. "He will."
As if on cue, the priest cleared his throat and began the ceremony.
Lana stayed silent for a moment, then suddenly stepped forward and hugged Lucian tightly. In the next second, Lucian felt a sharp pinch at his waist.
"Ouch..."
She pulled back, smiling sweetly. "Just checking," she murmured lightly.
"After all, my future happiness depends on your strength of will."
Lucian laughed. "That’s true." He leaned closer, his voice dropping. "Should we proceed with the ceremony instead?"
Lana froze for a split second, then instinctively leaned in, responding to him with equal passion.
Their lips brushed, lingering just long enough before she pulled away, her heart racing.
She laughed softly. How strange, she thought.
’I thought this was a vision... but now it feels like nothing more than a dream.’
"Sigh... if only it was more than a dream... but anyways... I won’t want such a lousy wedding... I want a grand one."
Lucian looked at her steadily. "As long as you want it, you can have a wedding. A grand one."
Lana reached up and calmly removed the veil from her head.
"Then I do want it," she replied seriously. "A much grander one." She tilted her head. "Can you do it in the next dream?"
Lucian blinked, clearly puzzled. "How would I do that?"
Lana let her guard down completely.
’If he agrees,’ she thought, ’then it means he’s conscious in this dream, can control the dream and letting me do all of this.’
That would mean he had feelings for her. But if he refused, then this Lucian was nothing more than her imagination.
She chuckled softly and waved her hand. "I’ll show you around."
With that, she began wandering through the magnificent crystal castle.
Time slipped by as she explored, room after room, until boredom finally crept in.
That was when she noticed a small photo frame resting on a bedside table.
She picked it up and frowned.
Lucian stepped closer, and the moment he saw the frame, his eyes lit up.
Inside the photo was Lana herself, a simple selfie. She smiled unconsciously.
’That was back then...’
She remembered those days clearly, the times she appeared on television shows.
Because it was for TV, her parents never stopped her. Her adoptive parents encouraged it even more, believing her appearances would bring them fame.
And it did.
Lana had given them exactly what they wanted.
