Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Annoyed Mr. Crow

He tried to crawl away, his hands slipping in his own blood.

But the torment didn’t stop.

Again and again, his body was lifted and smashed, ten times, maybe more. Each impact stole another piece of his consciousness until everything finally went black.

When George opened his eyes again, he found himself back in his bedroom.

Days passed in a blur.

Sometimes he woke up. Sometimes he drifted back into darkness. His body grew weaker by the hour. There was barely anything to eat, barely any water to drink.

Occasionally, a sweet taste touched his lips.

’Someone’s feeding me?’ he wondered deliriously. ’But how?’

There was no maid. No granddaughter.

As the sweetness returned again, thicker this time, he forced his eyes open. And looked up.

A figure clung to the ceiling, twisted and unnatural. Blood dripped slowly from its body, falling directly into his open mouth.

He wanted to scream. But his throat was too dry.

Too thirsty. So all he could do... was open his mouth wider.

The figure suddenly gave a creepy smile, and the next second, the blood trickling down the old man’s throat turned black.

George choked, feeling as if thousands of ants were biting him from inside.

His eyes slowly turned bloodshot, and just when he was on the verge of dying, the pain receded. This vicious cycle continued for a long while before George got used to the presence of the haunting ghost.

By now, he understood that his granddaughter loves to scare him. Sometimes she would pop out from under the bed, and sometimes she would appear on the bed.

However, each time he was filled with fear and couldn’t help but become scared. He even started to wonder just how many days were left before he would die.

Slowly, he became gaunt and weak to the point that even holding a pen would become a difficult task.

Finally, one day when he was lying on the bed, the door creaked open. His attention was drawn toward the door, and he saw no one.

But from what he knows... it must be his granddaughter. Sure enough, the next second, a black figure appeared.

Its eyes were completely white, while the smile on its face was twisted and horrendous to look at.

Fear flashed in his eyes, and the next second, the figure rushed toward him and started to laugh, its head rolling inhumanely, and the next second, the figure’s hand shot and clasped around George, stealing away his last breath.

During this time, the old man had tried to ask for help, but each time the ghost stopped him.

At the final moment of his life, George realized that he was getting his karma.

He had killed his own son. As a result, a daughter he loved wholeheartedly died. He refused to acknowledge his son, and the daughter and granddaughter he had acknowledged weren’t even his!

Karma would always return in the worst possible way.

Lana returned to the mansion and looked at the 5-star review. She curled her lips and continued to cultivate.

After cultivating, she started to draw the talismans.

By morning, she channeled her energy and felt a wave of freshness crash all over her body.

Sighing in comfort, she took a shower, while Mr. Crow frowned and lectured her, "You! You are way too stubborn! Why don’t you consult a psychologist? Do you think that your healing energy could compensate for lost sleep?"

"My dear Mr. Crow, with such an OP cheat code, I indeed think I am invincible!" Lana muttered while adjusting her clothes.

"Lana, have you noticed yourself? You have lost 10 pounds this month! Even with a regular eating habit, if you are losing weight, then it means that something is either wrong with your diet or your lifestyle."

"Or maybe my metabolism is fast? Mr. Crow, I was like this too in my previous life. Just leave it at that!" Lana sighed.

"No! It’s definitely because you aren’t sleeping well! Listen to my advice and..."

However, Lana interrupted his nagging and held him firmly.

"Okay! Okay! I heard your words. Now it’s time for an important task." Lana smiled, but from Mr. Crow’s perspective the smile looked rather evil.

Goosebumps spread across his body, but before he could struggle, Lana warned him,

"Don’t you dare try to wriggle free out of my control. I will ignore you for three straight days!"

Mr. Crow deflated like a balloon and gritted his teeth.

To his horror, he saw Lana taking out a pink bikini.

"What the hell! Lana, I am not wearing it!" He shouted, trying to fly away.

"You are wearing it," Lana cut in smoothly, her grip firm as she lifted him to eye level. Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "Or do you want three days of complete silence? No gossip. No explanations.

Mr. Crow froze.

Silence from Lana was far more terrifying than ghosts, curses, or talisman backlash.

"...You’re evil," he muttered weakly, his wings drooping.

Lana hummed happily and shook the pink bikini in front of him. "I felt the same when you took photos of me in that stupid bear outfit."

"I am a dignified spiritual crow!" he protested, voice cracking. "A being of wisdom and mystery! Do you know what this will do to my reputation?"

Lana tilted her head, pretending to ponder. "’Mysterious crow spotted wearing a pink bikini’?" She nodded thoughtfully. "You’re right. Legendary."

"That’s not helping!"

Before he could say another word, Lana had already begun tying the strings with alarming efficiency.

Mr. Crow squawked and flailed, but the moment he felt her fingers tighten, he stilled. ’She’s serious,’ he realized bitterly.

A minute later, Lana stepped back to admire her work.

The pink bikini, decorated with tiny white flowers, fit snugly over Mr. Crow’s glossy black feathers. Against all odds, it was... horrifyingly noticeable.

There was a long silence.

Mr. Crow stared down at himself.

"...If anyone sees me like this," he said hollowly, "I will curse you till my next reincarnation."

Lana burst out laughing, holding her stomach. "Oh come on, it’s adorable!"
