Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 143: Ezra
After several seconds, the woman suddenly dissolved into a swirling mass of black gas and vanished completely.
Lana exhaled in relief.
Mr. Crow muttered, "It would’ve been nice if this ghost were our assignment."
Lana laughed. "There’s no such thing as easy."
At that moment, the elevator doors opened. Lana stepped out, walking toward the mission issuer’s door and pressing the bell.
The moment the door clicked open, a man with an odd, round belly and an unshaved face appeared. The smile he gave her was meant to be polite, but to Lana it looked oily and unsettling.
Still, she maintained her calm and greeted him with a bright smile. "Are you Ezra?"
When Ezra nodded, Lana asked, "What is the mission?"
He gestured for her to come inside. Lana paused for a moment before entering. In that brief instant, she spoke to Mr. Crow through their link.
’If this man tries anything inappropriate, do you have enough psychic energy to throw him across the room? ’
Mr. Crow answered confidently, "Yes." Only then did Lana step inside.
Ezra narrowed his eyes at her back before shutting the door.
Inside, the apartment looked nothing like a place in a high-end tower.
It resembled a slum more than anything else. Beer bottles were scattered everywhere, the sofa was filthy, and the lights flickered with every gust of air.
Cobwebs clung to the corners, and spiders moved lazily along the walls.
Lana would have been disgusted, but her instincts kept her composed.
She forced a calm smile and asked, "What seems to be your problem?"
Ezra immediately began explaining.
"As I mentioned, I constantly hear women crying at night whenever I close my eyes. And when I wake up, I find bruises on my body... bruises I definitely didn’t make myself. They keep increasing. My body feels like someone ran a bulldozer over it."
While saying this, his gaze kept drifting toward Lana, filled with unmistakable lust.
Mr. Crow was disgusted and muttered, "I want to kill this guy."
’Calm down, I will deal with him later,’ Lana assured him.
Ezra, of course, couldn’t understand a crow’s words.
Lana remained expressionless and asked, "Can you show the bruises... from somewhere that doesn’t require lifting your clothes?"
Ezra smirked. "Sure. If you want, I can even take off my clothes. You know I have eight-pack abs, which you would love to see! You should appreciate it after all; not many have the chance to see my sculpted body!"
Lana: (o_0?) Eight-pack abs? Are you sure not eight burgers?
Mr. Crow lost patience. With one flap of his wing, he smacked Ezra hard across the face.
Lana didn’t even try to stop him. Instead, she instantly put on an act, pulling Mr. Crow back as if startled.
"Why are you so startled?" she muttered loudly. "Why did you suddenly act like that?"
Ezra stared at them, stunned. Lana gave him an apologetic smile that was anything but apologetic.
"I’m sorry. Mr. Crow is a little violent. He loves to slap people. Please don’t hold it against him. If you want, I can reduce the mission price by a hundred dollars as compensation."
Ezra gritted his teeth. "There’s no need."
Lana continued smoothly, "If you still want to take off your clothes, you can. But I should remind you... There are two ghosts behind me. They’ll also see the ’beautiful body’ you were talking about."
Ezra froze. "W-What ghosts?"
Lana replied in a soft voice,
"I just completed two missions. I haven’t released the spirits yet, so they’re still bound beside me using my mystic energy. They’re watching you right now."
Ezra jumped to his feet, furious. "How can you bring ghosts into my apartment?!"
Lana waved her hand calmly.
"I’m not breaking any rules. The university rulebook states that we’re allowed to bring ghosts along as long as we inform the mission issuer about their presence. And I did."
She conveniently left out the rest of the rule... that if the mission issuer was incompatible or felt uncomfortable with the presence of ghosts, she would have to dispel them and refund the corresponding credit payment.
Ezra didn’t know that. He clenched his fists, anger simmering in his eyes.
Eventually, he sat back down and muttered, "Fine. I won’t take off my clothes. I’ll show you the bruises on my arms."
He rolled up his sleeves.
In his heart, though, he was filled with fear and even discreetly looked around like a thief.
Lana examined the marks. They were circular... far too symmetrical to be naturally formed.
They looked more like they had been pressed onto his skin using some kind of equipment. Dark black rings that hadn’t faded at all, almost like a half-erased tattoo.
She narrowed her eyes, then looked at Ezra and said, "I’ll need to conduct a full investigation. I’ll have to check the entire apartment. If you allow that, it’ll help me greatly."
Ezra stared at Lana for a brief moment before finally nodding his head and explaining,
"I can allow it, but I need to clean the master bedroom and the other rooms first."
Without even waiting for Lana’s response, he immediately rushed inside one of the rooms and shut the door.
Watching him, Lana stayed near the entrance with a suspicious gaze and muttered, "There’s something amiss here..."
As she murmured, she even let out some of her mystic energy as if to confirm something.
Mr. Crow clicked his beak irritably and asked,
"Have you finally noticed how lustful this guy is? How did her university even allow someone like him to issue missions?"
He even started to doubt if the university had some kind of malicious intentions towards his Lana!
How do they expect their student to be worry-free with such issues?
Lana laughed softly.
"These kinds of people are common. It’s not the university’s fault. The university accepts missions that help with students’ growth. They try their best to choose missions that aren’t too difficult and can be handled with the items they issue."
