Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 117: New Talisman
Lucian didn’t repeat himself, but Naina got the answer she was looking for, and a smile appeared on her face.
’My! My! Is Lucian still unaware of his feelings?’ Naina thought in her heart with interest in her eyes.
But when she was reminded about Lucian’s past, she froze. Technically, Lucian had never been loved by anyone.
Neither his family nor any kind of lovers. This caused him to become rather unfamiliar with the concept of love. Heck, Naina could bet all her money on the fact that Lucian might have misunderstood his feelings all along.
’Good for me! Saves me the trouble!’ She thought proudly in her heart.
However, what she didn’t know was... she missed the glint in Lucian’s eyes. He stared at Naina like an idiot.
"Responsibility, huh? All right then. I won’t be a hurdle to you then." With that, Naina walked away; meanwhile, the maids didn’t forget to cast pitying glances in Lucian’s direction.
.........................
Inside, Lana slept for a few more hours before she felt energetic enough to get out of bed and stretch her limbs.
After taking a quick shower, Lana went downstairs, where she saw Naina and Lucian arguing... no, to be precise, it was more of a one-sided argument.
Naina was shouting at Lucian, while Lucian remained silent as if he were unfazed by Naina’s words.
Lana arched her brow, and the conversation became clearer to her as she neared them.
"Are you deaf? Who gave you the right to stay here? I only want you as a bodyguard! Why are you occupying the room beside Lana? You bastard! You have others thinking about her, right?"
’Is Naina feeling jealous about it?’ Lana wondered, while Mr. Crow ignored her comment.
Lucian smirked and ate the bread with elegance as if he were eating the delicacies of heaven. His calm composure made Naina bristle with fury when the sound of soft footsteps attracted their attention.
"Lana? You are awake? You must be hungry, right? Come here. I have asked the chef to make your favorite food." Naina’s tone morphed into a sweet expression, and Lana felt a wave of discomfort in her heart.
Yet she maintained the sweet smile on her face and waved her hand, "Thank you so much! I was truly touched."
Instead of going near Naina, Lana sat on the chair far away from her and Lucian.
Naina frowned and shot a suspicious glance in Lucian’s direction, wondering if he had said bad things about Naina to Lana.
’With his character... I won’t be surprised!’ Naina thought bitterly.
Lana ate lunch and returned to her room, burying herself in cultivation.
When your white moonlight hurts you, just use your energy to do something productive.
For Lana, anger was equivalent to motivation.
Seeing her focusing on her cultivation, Mr. Crow was moved.
In the blink of an eye, 2 days passed. In these two days, Lana mostly cultivated or made talismans. Her fury must be at its peak because soon she was able to awaken another talisman.
Basic Energy Restoration Talisman.
When Lana got the message, she was thrilled.
Energy Restoration The talisman could help her recover her mystic energy faster; however, since they were only at the basic level, she could only restore 10%.
Not much, considering that if she used the talisman a second time, she would only be able to recover 10% of 10% of mystic energy...
However, Lana was still filled with excitement. As long as a mystic cultivator uses the talismans once and restores some of the mystic energy, then they can recover a significant sum.
On the 3rd Day, Lana felt better and proposed to deal with the ghost. Even though Lucian wanted to help her deal with the ghost, he knew the rules of ShadowRidge University.
He couldn’t help her! Otherwise, Lana would be denied any future task. And the worst part is she may be fined with credits.
Hence, he only made sure to maintain Lana’s progress.
Lana was rather thankful, and most of her anger melted away. She chanted in her mind, ’You love him, so don’t associate other emotions with that love and taint its name!’
Hence, by the 3rd day, her attitude had pretty much softened toward both Naina and Lucian.
Another reason was... how Naina acted cute several times.
At 2:50 am.
Lana stayed by Naina’s side and waited for the ghost to appear.
Naina was tucked under the blanket, while Lana was holding an aura-hiding talisman and waiting for the ghost to appear.
Looking at Lana’s beautiful face, Naina asked in a curious voice, "Lana... how do you know Lucian?"
"Hm? He is sponsoring me." Lana answered, while her sharp eyes surveyed the surroundings, in the hopes of finding the ghost.
"How much is he paying? I am ready to pay double the amount!" Naina stubbornly argued. "As long as you leave him, I will take care of all your expenses, including any upcoming missions or cultivation resources," Naina said firmly, her eyes gleaming with stubborn determination.
Lana blinked, turning her head slightly to look at her.
’Did she just say she’ll pay double? What does she think I am, a mercenary?’ Lana thought, fighting the urge to sigh.
However, she couldn’t deny that she was rather tempted by the offer.
If someone could pay 1 billion dollars on her behalf for her cultivation... negotiation would be possible.
After all... she loved her white moonlight, and she can love him too. No need to go close.
Mr. Crow: (o_0?) I feel concerned for your white moonlight!
She gave a small, helpless smile and said, "No need, I am rather loyal. He was the first one who helped me openly. I can’t be ungrateful."
Naina pursed her lips before her claws, aka her hand, reached toward Lana, and she said in a low voice, "Lana, I..."
Tick! Tock!
The old grandfather clock in the corner echoed through the dimly lit room. Each second seemed to stretch longer than the last.
The air had turned strangely heavy, and even the faint hum of the night insects outside had gone eerily silent.
