Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 116: Naina and Lucian’s Past
Lucian frowned, voice low and controlled.
"Then I will deal with it. You recover."
Before Lana could object, Naina nodded immediately.
"Yes. Let him do the work for once."
Lana stared at her, stunned.
And then, slowly, a thought crept in.
’Does Naina... like Lucian? Is all this arguing... actually because she is jealous of Lucian paying attention to me?’
Her expression paled.
Mr. Crow stared at Lana in complete disbelief.
’This girl is hopeless. Absolutely hopeless. From which angle does she even see Naina liking Lucian? Her hatred couldn’t be any more visible!’
Meanwhile, from Lana’s perspective...
She was watching a potential future couple.
The classic enemies-to-lovers dynamic is unfolding right before her eyes.
Her face turned pale as chalk.
Taking a deep breath, Lana looked at Lucian and Naina. She clenched her fists before speaking, her voice calm but distant.
"Since the two of you have already decided what to do, then I won’t interrupt. Do whatever you want."
She finished with a wide, obviously forced smile.
Naina and Lucian froze.
Her smile did not reach her eyes. Her earlier warmth and softness had disappeared entirely.
Both felt the shift and exchanged a confused glance.
’Did Lucian make her upset?’ Naina wondered, biting her lip. ’It must be! She is angry because Lucian is constantly trying to act possessive.’
’She must be angry that Naina had forced her to kiss.’ Lucian concluded.
Their interpretations were entirely different. Yet both assumed the other was at fault. The air between them grew increasingly tense, their glares sharpening like knives.
From Lana’s perspective, however, the way they stared at each other looked almost like two star-crossed lovers lost in their own world.
’What is happening...? Why do they look like they are sharing some kind of romantic tension?’ Lana felt her brain stall.
’No. Impossible. Lucian and Naina... lovers? Never.’
The memory of her previous life surfaced like a sharp thorn. Lucian had slept with someone then, but it was not her. She had never been the one.
And now, somehow, this was unfolding before her eyes.
Her mood sank.
Lana forced a bright smile that didn’t match the heaviness in her chest. "I don’t want to see anyone right now. I am tired."
Lucian and Naina both frowned and turned toward Lana.
"Lana, what happened? Why are you suddenly tired?"
Lana simply pulled the blanket up to her chin and turned away.
"I just need rest."
She did not want to talk. Not to either of them.
Mr. Crow sat on the bedside table, silently staring at the scene. He was speechless.
’Honestly, maybe it would be better if both of those vixens stayed far away from my master.’
Lucian and Naina exchanged helpless looks. Neither knew what had gone wrong, so they came to the same decision.
They would give Lana some time alone and return later to comfort her.
Of course, they both also quietly planned how to get rid of the other.
After they left, Lana slowly sat up in bed and let out a long exhale.
’They are outside, probably going on their little lovers’ stroll,’ she thought darkly. ’They even held back their affection in front of me.’
Her anger simmered.
’Fine. Next time I see Lucian, I will mark him so clearly that no one else can misunderstand anything. If he wants to play confusing games, I will show him what confusion truly means. I will bite his abs and scratch his back! Let others misunderstand!’
Only after thinking that did she feel slightly better.
Meanwhile, Mr. Crow just stared at her blankly.
’This girl... how can one person be this dense? She is creating misunderstandings that do not even exist. And why is her way of thinking so crooked?’
Outside the room, Naina and Lucian walked side by side in silence.
Naina finally spoke. "So you are not keeping up your gentle mask now?"
Lucian gave a small laugh. "And you are still pretending to be kind? You acted like you cared for the children only to impress your mother."
Naina snorted. "As if you don’t have ulterior motives. You are no saint."
Lucian scoffed softly, crossing his arms. "Says the girl who pretended to be kind to the village children just to get her mother’s attention."
Naina’s expression darkened instantly. The maids nearby exchanged glances, all of them silently screaming inside.
’Oh no. It started again.’
They all knew the history between Naina and Lucian far too well.
When Lucian was discovered at birth, he had been living in the very same village where Naina would occasionally visit with donations.
She had gone there not out of pure goodwill, but because she wanted her mother to look at her, just once, with pride.
Lucian, who had grown up bitterly watching charity used as a performance, found it disgusting.
He had confronted her back then, bluntly accusing her of using kindness as a stage to showcase herself.
Naina, humiliated and furious, had snapped at him just as harshly.
From that moment onward, their hatred became mutual.
Later, when Lucian was revealed to be the true biological son of a prestigious family, an old marriage agreement between their families resurfaced.
Lucian had immediately broken it off the moment he learned his fiancée was Naina.
Naina had not wanted the engagement either, but being discarded so quickly had stung her dignity.
Their dislike intensified into something that could only be described as war.
Now, standing face to face again, only this time as romantic rivals for Lana, it was almost theatrical.
Naina rolled her eyes at Lucian, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "What happened to your gentle façade? Did it already break?"
Lucian smiled, slow, sharp, and unkind.
"I’ve seen pretentious girls before, but none quite like you. Acting cute and refined when in reality, you’re nothing but someone who schemes for emotional attention."
Naina snorted. "As if you don’t have ulterior motives yourself."
Lucian lifted his chin proudly. "My only intention is to take responsibility for her and ensure she grow up properly."
Silence.
Naina stared at him.
"Repeat that."
