Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 103: DNA Test
At night.
Knock! Knock!
"Come in." A fatigued, cool voice filled with authority reached the other end of the door.
Hector pushed open the glass door and entered the office with a folder in his hand.
"Boss, the results are out. Please check it." With that, Hector passed the folder to Lucian.
Lucian opened the file, and a meaningful smile appeared on his face.
A DNA test report between Lana and Silver Cat had been conducted, and the result was... 25% resemblance.
Since Lana hardly has any hair in her room, and even after his special instructions, the maids of his mansion couldn’t find any of Lana’s hair, Lucian had conducted a DNA test using the existing results in the worldwide database.
A 25% resemblance meant... Lana and the silver cat weren’t the same.
In fact... someone else related to Lana might be the true silver cat.
However, Lucian wasn’t in a hurry to make any conclusions. Instead, he flipped the page, and this time another report appeared.
This one was conducted between two of the same white cat hairs. Except the locations where these two cat hairs were found... were different.
One was personally collected by him, while the other... it was found by Lucy, who was cleaning Lana’s bedsheet and saw a shiny silver fur behind a pillow (it was left there when Mr. Crow had placed the silver cat Lana behind the pillow to hide her from Lucy).
Result? Exact match.
Lucian chuckled, seeing the record.
His cool voice echoed in the empty silence of the office, while a mysterious smile appeared on his face. "Why am I not surprised?"
A gleam flashed in his eyes before he took out a lighter from the drawer and burned the documents.
His gentle voice, laced with laziness, echoed in Hector’s ears.
"No one needs to know the document and its content. Ask the hackers of the company to clear all the records in the DNA center where the test was done."
Hector nodded, his heart trembling. He had never seen his boss so protective of the opposite sex.
"By the way... where is she now? Her university time should be over by now." Lucian’s nonchalant voice showcased how casual it was for him to ask about Lana’s whereabouts.
Contrary to Lana’s belief, Lucian knows her entire schedule.
He even keeps track of whether she has returned to the mansion or not.
This was to prevent arriving late in case Lana was in danger.
What if the Almond family loses their minds and uses some kind of underhanded tactics?
Earlier, he had no relationship to openly protect Lana, but now... a relationship was established between them.
Lana and he were business partners... if the financial statement isn’t checked.
"Sir, Miss Lana hasn’t returned. Even her contracted beast hasn’t." Hector answered in a respectful voice.
"Hm? What did the driver say?" Lucian’s voice this time sounded stern; gone was the nonchalance.
"The driver stated that Miss Lana has exited the university but didn’t contact him." Hector’s words made Lucian pause.
"Any news on the school forum?"
"Well... Miss Lana’s best friend went to confront Brenda..." Hector paused with a hesitant expression.
"And?"
"Maybe they had an argument because then Miss Lana rushed away in a hurry. She didn’t look good..." Hector murmured.
Lucian’s eyes narrowed before he slowly stood up from his chair. The soft rustling of the roller wheels sounded like a crack in glass.
"Ready the car. It’s time to check on the young lady." There was no mirth in Lucian’s eyes, and Hector knew his boss, aka best friend, was furious.
This anger wasn’t directed at Lana for sure. She was an anomaly... that Lucian was treating... like she was a pearl of his eyes.
In retrospect, a mystic cultivator is indeed a treasure.
.....................
In the university.
Lana was gazing at the stars; her eyes were slightly puffy, and nestled in her arms was Mr. Crow.
"How long will you stay here?" Mr. Crow asked worriedly when the cold breeze rushed past them and turned Lana’s already cold body even colder.
"Just an hour more. No one will notice anyway." Lana’s nonchalant voice made Mr. Crow’s head ache.
Mr. Crow sighed, ruffling his feathers as he peered up at her. "You’re going to catch a cold, Lana. You’ve been sitting here for hours already."
Lana smiled faintly, her lips pale under the dim glow of the streetlights. "Don’t I have you to take care of me?"
Mr. Crow hopped closer to her shoulder, his sharp eyes reflecting concern. "Even with my care... how can you guarantee your well-being?"
"Hm? Fine. Fine. Let’s go." Lana stood up and patted her clothes when suddenly she heard the sound of footsteps.
A ruthless glint flashed in her eyes, and she chuckled with no mirth in her voice, "These Almond family members couldn’t stay put, huh?"
Lana quickly surveyed her surroundings to find a route to run away, but before she could even execute her plan, a familiar figure appeared in her vision.
Instinctively, Lana relaxed her stance, while Mr. Crow could feel Lana’s heart skipping a beat.
Lucian walked up to Lana with measured steps, and once the distance was closed between them, the lazy, cool voice echoed in Lana’s ears.
"Miss Lana out for a walk?"
Lana controlled her excitement, putting up a calm facade, and joked, "Yes. I heard stars look particularly beautiful from here." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Lucian gazed deeply at Lana before staring at the sky; he nodded with an appreciative look. "Indeed, the moon is beautiful tonight."
Mr. Crow was suddenly reminded of a short video he had seen.
It was mentioned how the phrase ’the moon is beautiful tonight’ meant... I love you.
Did Lucian just now... confess to Lana?
Mr. Crow’s head whipped in Lana’s direction and he almost wanted to scream, ’He is flirting with you!’
However, he was stunned when he saw Lana looking at Lucian with a happy smile.
Did she understand what he meant too?
