Game World's Awakening-Chapter 196: Tournament Final Battle: Angelic Wave vs. Clark Group.
Upon returning to his apartment, Elliot looked at his stats window. He had gained 6 stat points in that short battle. He didn't know if it was a lucky coincidence or if those guys were tough.
He raised his strength by 3 points and his resistance by 3 points without thinking twice. This allowed him to reach 80 points in Strength, approaching that mythical 100.
Later, he went out into the city to meet with Ilsen.
It would be a busy week, but it would surely bear fruit. They had to hurry with their plans so that everything would go well, because they didn't have much time left.
The week passed quickly, and it was already the day of the final battle.
It was the most anticipated day for everyone watching the tournament. But Elliot was a little nervous that day.
They had completed everything they needed to do that week. That same day, Ilsen was already on his way to the Courts of Justice and other important areas that served the kingdom to present all the evidence against the Clarks, the local Elemental Academy, and others.
He had pulled some important strings to ensure everything went smoothly, while Elliot, supported by Steward, paid for certain television advertisements that would air at the end of the match.
The tournament's heat significantly overshadowed these movements, but the Clark Group and its allies were not in perfect shape today. Well, the young people were, but the leaders had somber looks on their faces.
They knew everything that was going on behind the scenes. They knew they were the target of these increasingly difficult-to-track movements.
Of course, at a certain point, they realized that Elliot had something to do with it. Still, with the political support he was receiving from the Ann Family and the financial support from Steward, it was difficult to understand exactly what his mission was in all this.
They had ways of avoiding legal problems, and the courts weren't much of a problem for them, as they had important contacts. And the best example of this was the House of Fire. Despite all the evidence presented against them, almost all of these cases have now been shelved.
They have power.
In addition, thanks to the House of Fire, which gave them information about the Misfits, the Clark Group began to take care of this difficult-to-control group, which created the problem that today has them looking so gloomy.
They realized it was too late. Control over the Misfits seemed to have vanished. They tried to use threats against them, but a political organization prevented them.
They had to buy information at a high cost, and it is said that an Agora organization was involved in this and was using the Misfits for something completely different these days.
No wonder the shipments were taking longer to leave!
In the morning, the two opposing guilds gathered at the location designated by the system for the battle (between the mountains between Agora and Loen, an area built for open-world combat).
There were also many people from other guilds. The Cats, the Zargo Academy, the Elemental Academy...
Most of the major guilds gathered to see what this high-level combat would be like.
This place is more difficult to access. Although stands have been built, the system does not usually choose this place for combat, so it has not been properly developed.
The stands are small. This is where boat drivers earn the most money, so even positions in the sky are bought these days. However, because of this, most fans waited on the banks of the mountain, setting up large screens to watch.
Many simply watched from the squares of different cities.
Although this meant less profit for the guilds and more for the television stations, no one could control the system's whims.
The mountainous area was also dangerous. Being outdoors, there were many dangers of falling down a ravine, so the players also had to be very careful.
-
In the dressing rooms, the two guilds that were about to face each other came face to face.
Sparks flew back and forth.
But neither team said anything. Even though they wanted to insult each other, no one said a word.
Elliot remained calm, staring at them intently. Jenna was perhaps the most alert, but she didn't show it. She just knew that she would summon her sword as soon as she saw any inappropriate movement.
But there wasn't any.
The Clark Group finally entered the "arena," followed by Angelic Wave.
Both were positioned on opposite mountains. Here, they knew where the other team was. Unfortunately, they were too far away. Angelic Wave would hardly be able to attack.
On Clark's group side, they did have one person capable of attacking from such long distances.
Well, Ruin could do it too, but not as well as Dark Cloak.
"To think that in the end, the three of us would join forces to put an end to this guy," said Ruin, looking at Dark Cloak.
He was actually going to participate in the Elemental Academy at first. At the last minute, they had to change things around, as they couldn't afford to be so divided in the face of a reinforced Angelic Wave.
In part, they cheated, and for that reason, the staff of the Clark Group and the Elemental Academy were surely penalized in some way by the System, but it didn't usually say so until the end of the tournament, so as not to reveal the secrets for which they were willing to be penalized.
"Heh. I'm sure that without me, you guys would go head-to-head with those guys without any prior planning, so in the end, I was forced to come." Dark Cloak replied confidently, but Sir Ruined looked at him, puzzled.
"There are a lot of you guys. Don't get me involved in this little fool's nonsense."
Although Dark Cloak cringed in response, he didn't care.
In the end, Ruin, the one under attack, wrinkled his nose. He wanted to respond, but even he had to admit that sometimes he acted without thinking. Besides, he couldn't do it because the battle had begun with loudspeakers blaring in everyone's ears.
Just then, Dark Cloak shook the cloak covering him. In an instant, a series of strangely powerful spells appeared above them, among the trees and above them.
There were seven in total.
These spells were somewhat similar to the current ones, but at the same time, a little different.
Although they were elemental spells, their construction was different. None of them were fireballs, just rock formations with magic, which soon shot toward the mountain in front of them.
The attack was instantaneous, and the speed was considerably faster than that of a normal spell.
Elliot, Jenna, Andrew, and the Thoran Twins frowned at such magic.
It was their first time seeing it, but they had some references.
Especially Elliot.
"Ancient Elven Magic," he said, remembering a little of what he had read about Altarcitus.
The question is, who created so many at once?
"Huh? Can those guys use Ancient Elven Magic?" asked one of the twins. "Are they Elves?"
"Yes. Three of them are probably Elves."
"Shit, they have an overwhelming advantage."
"Haha, are you scared?" Elliot turned to look at him, and he sighed.
He couldn't even shake his head.
"Those who can learn that kind of magic have an overwhelming advantage. Not only do they have the advantage of being able to cast spells and awakened abilities, but this magic is much more powerful than conventional magic. That's why it's not something just anyone can learn. Being so powerful, it can kill you if you're not careful."
Elliot frowned. The spells were already upon them, so they had to run downhill to avoid them.
But he was pensive.
'So ancient elven magic didn't require the power of the system, but simply talent, like in fantasy?' he thought, looking at them.
Due to the distance, they managed to dodge them with relative ease, which allowed them to see their power.
The explosions on the mountain and the speed with which they crossed from one side to the other shocked them.
Especially Elliot.
'Too much power to be something that can be learned simply by having talent,' he thought.
On the other hand, the twins frowned.
"This is going to be really dangerous," they said.
"Why?" Andrew was the one who was curious this time.
"That magical power can only be achieved by those who are most talented in Ancient Elven Magic. Besides, it's possible that there may be someone among them who is peculiar," he said.
"In what sense would they be peculiar?"
"Once I met an elf who practiced Ancient Elven Magic whose body was like a rock. Extremely hard."
"Huh? Why?"
"He awoke as a tank with abilities inside his body, and his ancient magic mixed with this inner ability, which ended up transforming him into a strange rock, I think."
"Is something like that possible?" Jenna was amazed. "Were you able to win?" she asked.
They shook their heads with a hint of sadness in their eyes.
"We lost. He also killed the one we were protecting."
The expression on both their faces when they answered that question told everyone that it was an unpleasant memory for them. Perhaps the person they were protecting was very important to them.
That's why they stopped talking and continued running downhill.
They hadn't even reached the other mountain when they were rammed at the foot of their own mountain. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"That fast?!" Even Elliot was shocked to see the members of the Clark Group arriving at ridiculous speeds in front of them.
