Chapter 109: Overpowered

Mirabella stepped forward first, her boots crunching against the corrupted soil of the Valley of Death. She stared at the five monstrous dogs running ahead of their group, their fifteen collective jaws snapping as they closed the distance. She stood perfectly still, a predator waiting patiently for the beasts to cross the invisible threshold of her attack range.

And once they crossed the mark, she muttered under her breath:

"Echo of Frailty."

WHOOSH!!

A dense, suffocating wave of dark spirit energy spread out from her like a concussive shockwave. It smashed into the five charging dogs, and instantly, their momentum shattered. Their terrifying speed dropped dramatically, their massive paws suddenly dragging through the dirt as if the gravity around them had magnified tenfold.

The display shocked both Hitachi and Hayatobi.

’This? It’s like their speed have been cut in half,’ Hayatobi thought in shock. With a brilliant flash of light from his silver eyes, he pierced through the physical realm to read the underlying spirit energy structure of the beasts.

’No... This is a mega debuff, she reduced every single stats into half, even the dogs’ spirit energy and health have all been divided into halves.’ He blinked, the veteran commander in him utterly stunned, and turned to Mirabella.

"The skill I acquired isn’t an attack or defense skill, but it’s an AOE debuff skill, which can easily make any enemy completely vulnerable to all mine and my teammates’ attacks," she said, her voice analytical and cold, looking over at Hitachi.

[Ding! Hitachi Azul. Mirabella sent you an invitation to join her team.]

Hitachi narrowed his eyes at the holographic prompt hovering in his vision, unaccustomed to relying on others, but he still accepted the invite with his galaxy bracelet. The party link synced their auras.

"Good... Now, can you attack these things with your weakest attack?" she asked.

Hitachi nodded, his expression flat. He opened his palm, and thick, condensed smoke appeared above his skin, swiftly forming into five tiny, razor-sharp needles.

"These needles only deal 10,000 damage each. They can only reduce the dogs’ debuffed health by 10%... Anyway." He threw his hand forward, sending the grey needles whistling through the heavy air towards the five charging dogs.

’His weakest magical attack deals 10,000 damage? Hitachi is indeed strong,’ Mirabella thought, staring at the trailing smoke, her gamer instincts kicking in as she silently commanded the System to replicate the technique.

{Sorry Host.}

{Skill can’t be copied.}

{Reason: Host don’t have the smoke element.}

’Shit!! It seems I can’t copy all skills!!’ she thought, her lips pressing into a thin line of frustration.

WHOOSH!

The needles struck the center head of each dog.

Hitachi and Hayatobi froze in shock as the five massive, Lv150 beasts simply dropped dead, their heavy bodies crashing into the dirt without so much as a whimper.

"This? How?" Hitachi was dumbfounded for the first time, his usual cold facade breaking as he stared at his own hands.

"It seems her skill also gave a dangerous debuff on the targets... Any attack they received will be multiplied, and with your attack strength, and the health of the dogs, I am guessing your five attacks got multiplied by ten, which killed these dogs instantly," Hayatobi explained, his mind racing through the terrifying combat math:

"I am shocked, if you had used your strongest attack... I don’t think we will even see these dogs’ bodies again."

Hayatobi nodded his head, turning to Mirabella with a newfound mix of awe and caution:

"What a dangerous skill... It doesn’t deal damage on its own, but the debuffs, they’re all off the chart." Hayatobi nodded his head again, stabilizing his composure.

’I should see Hitachi’s skill first before deciding,’ he thought.

’Such a skill... Becoming her enemy is the worst karma anyone can ever receive,’ Hitachi thought, taking a slow breath as he stepped forward. Meanwhile, Mirabella disbanded the team through the interface, the ambient link severing as she walked back to Hayatobi’s side.

"I think you can free the remaining five then," Hitachi said, looking over his shoulder at Hayatobi, his demeanor shifting back to that of an absolute executioner.

"Hahaha! Your eyes are still sharp," Hayatobi laughed. He snapped his massive fingers, and instantly, the invisible spirit chains binding the remaining five dogs shattered.

GRAAAAAA!!!!

The beasts roared in feral rage for being chained down, their fury compounded by watching their kin get cut down before them. The ground shook as they charged the clearing.

"Soul Piercing!!"

Hitachi’s colorful Celestial Eyes spun violently in their sockets, blurring into a mesmerizing, lethal kaleidoscope. Instantly, the five charging dogs froze mid-stride, as if time itself had stopped.

Then, from the inside out, they violently shattered into a grotesque blood paste, splashing wetly onto the barren ground. There was no physical projectile, no elemental blast—just the absolute destruction of their core essence.

"Hmm... Hitachi’s skill is more ruthless. It attacks the soul directly, causing it to explode from inside out... This attack can’t be defended or avoided, just like yours, Mirabella," Hayatobi said, staring at Hitachi’s back, realizing he was molding two walking natural disasters.

"Yeah. This just made him stronger," Mirabella muttered, but her true focus was fixed inwardly on the glowing blue screen of the System.

{Sorry Host.}

{Skill can’t be copied.}

{Reason: Host don’t have Celestial Eyes.}

’Fuck!! Such a skill and I can’t copy it!!’ she clenched her fists, annoyed by the genetic paywall of this world.

’But thanks to the system, I am immune to all soul attacks, so this skill is useless against me. Even if it’s unavoidable, the system can surely avoid it.’

{Correct Host.}

{Note! I can’t block a soul attack from someone who is Lv500, or who have unlocked the next stage of strength.}

’Next stage of strength? What is that?’ she inquired, her mind immediately searching for the next threshold.

{Host will know in the future.}

Mirabella sighed at the cryptic response and asked aloud:

"What now?"

Her gaze was fixed on the gory remains of the dogs, whose crushed carcasses were already dissolving into particles of light, transforming into glowing purple monster cards that hovered silently in the air.

"You two can go hunting... You will need the training."

Hayatobi waved his heavy hands, commanding the very space around them. Two massive, shimmering barriers parted in the thick miasma—one leading North, the other South.

"Hitachi, take the north side of the valley... Mirabella, you should take the South... Before the day is done, I want both of you to have your own spots in this valley... Leave the barrier to me," he commanded, a Master Teacher letting his prime wolves off their leashes.

"Yes!!"

The two nodded in unison. Without another word, they shot forward, moving as blurs of dark and colorful energy. They ran towards their assigned directions with incredible speed, their eyes filled with determination to carve out their own territories in this deadly basin.

"These two, they didn’t even bother with these monster cards," Hayatobi sighed, shaking his head with a wry smile as he stared at the valuable, purple-grade loot hovering ignored before him.
