Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 83 - 46: The Secret of the Soaring Snake Clan (Part 3)
Leon accepted the package, gave her a look, and rubbed his neck. "Are you only inviting the madam? Your shop is opening, and you’re not going to invite me?"
"I am, I am! Of course I’m inviting you!"
He finally smiled. "When the time comes, just remember to send me the location. I’ll drop by when I have some free time."
Little Bai readily agreed. After asking Leon to step out, she turned to Sang Luo and hesitated. "Madam, there’s something else I want to tell you. I was afraid you’d get angry, so I wasn’t going to say anything, but... I think it’s better that you know..."
"What is it? Feel free to speak."
"Well, you know I’ve been going out a lot recently, looking for an affordable storefront in a good location."
"One time... I saw Lord Caesar with another noble female."
Little Bai peeked at Sang Luo’s expression. Seeing that she wasn’t angry, she continued, "I asked Leon about her. Apparently, that noble female and Lord Caesar were childhood sweethearts. You just gave birth, yet he’s out all day, every day. Madam, you should probably keep a closer eye on him. I just hope... I hope I’m wrong about this..."
Sang Luo was unexpectedly calm. "If he really wants to be with someone else, then so be it. I can’t stop him."
"I have nothing to do with her," Caesar said, appearing suddenly with a frown. "Her brother violated military law, and she came to me to plead on his behalf. I did not agree."
Sang Luo ignored him, simply picking up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and eating it.
Seeing that things were taking a bad turn, Little Bai quickly slipped away.
Caesar’s gaze landed on her, his lips pressing into a thin line. His voice was cold. "Do you really think I’m some kind of promiscuous male?"
"Who knows? King Beasts are noble, after all. It wouldn’t be a big deal for one to have a few lovers, even after taking a mate."
"...You bore me a pure-blood heir. I would never seek out another female."
"Hah. So it really was about the heir. Now that you have one, I’m useless, is that it? Why would you need to bother with my feelings anymore? No wonder you’re never home these days. I was starting to suspect you’d gone and knocked up some other female."
"Sang Luo!" He lunged forward to grab her hand.
But she flung his hand away.
Sang Luo’s pent-up emotions finally burst forth. "Your heart obviously isn’t with me anymore, I can feel it! If you feel like you don’t need me now that you have your child, then just say it now! We can make a clean break. Don’t drag this out."
’She had fallen for him, too. Otherwise, she never would have had his child.’
It was a lie when she said she wasn’t angry.
Caesar froze, stunned by her outburst.
Sang Luo glared at him, her chest heaving. "It’s not like you’re my only option."
’Worst comes to worst, she could go to Lan Cang. His natural talent was a little lacking compared to a King Beast, but he genuinely liked *her*. Not like Caesar, who had been targeting the power inside her from the very start.’
’And Duotu... while he also saw her as a baby-making machine, at least he was handsome and rich. He only cared about the bloodline; if she gave him a pure-blood heir to raise, he would never get entangled with other females.’
’Either of them was a better option than this Snake Beast!’
Sang Luo calmed down. "Just say you don’t want to be with me anymore, and I’ll leave right now."
"No! You can’t leave me!"
Caesar pulled her into a fierce hug, his breath catching with desperate tension. His mind was in absolute turmoil. In that moment, the fear of losing her was terrifyingly real.
Only then did Sang Luo feel that the man she knew had returned. Her nose tingled, and her eyes began to well up. "But... after we had the child, your heart wasn’t with me anymore."
"The child is second. You are first."
"And what about you?" she asked, a small laugh breaking through her tears.
"After both of you," he mumbled, burying his face in her neck.
"Then why have you been so hot and cold with me lately? I felt like you didn’t care about me at all."
"...It wasn’t because of the child." Caesar turned her to face him, cupping her cheeks and gently wiping away her tears. His heart ached. "I... I don’t know how to explain it. I’ve been in low spirits recently, just... not myself."
He knew he’d been cold and distant toward her the last few days. He thought it was strange, too, and he wanted to figure out what the problem was.
He went to her room every night, staying until morning. He wanted to take care of her, to accompany her, but he couldn’t bring himself to get any closer.
Whenever she initiated contact, another voice inside him would scream—’Push her away.’
Caesar was in agony. He wanted to cut off this inexplicable feeling, but he couldn’t find its source.
But...
"Sangsang, I truly love you. I don’t want to lose you."
He was certain his heart had always belonged to her.
The moment she mentioned leaving him, his heart had ached so badly he could barely breathe, and his entire body had trembled uncontrollably.
Seeing his pained and sorrowful expression, Sang Luo slowly calmed down. ’It’s true,’ she thought, ’his attitude didn’t change right after I gave birth. It’s only been the last two days, ever since he came back from the Beast King Palace...’
"Have you been too tired from the incubation recently?"
"If you’re not in a rush, I can slow down the incubation," Caesar said, lowering his head to kiss her. A fervent love broke through the encroaching fog that had been consuming it. The cage opened, and the emotions that were rightfully his seemed to be returning, bit by bit.
The kissing soon led to wandering hands.
Sang Luo quickly pushed him away, chiding playfully, "I just gave birth. I don’t want to get pregnant with a second child this soon."
Caesar didn’t want to push her either, so he backed down. He continued to hold her, kissing her gently to make up for the last few days.
Sang Luo wrapped her arms around his neck. On a sudden impulse, she gathered a faint ball of energy at her fingertips and brushed aside his long, silky, ink-black hair.
On his neck was a crimson rune!
