Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 273 - 213: Storming the Palace to Confront
Sang Luo nodded wearily. Then, remembering something, she added, "Fei Yuan once placed a tracking mark on me. Can you help me remove it?"
"A tracking mark..." Si Ye’s expression turned even uglier. "He didn’t even give you a Soul Mark!"
’There was no point in dwelling on it.’ Si Ye suppressed his rage and nodded. "A tracking mark is easy to deal with. I’ll help you remove it."
After she told him where it was, a faint halo of light appeared in his palm. A moment later... without Sang Luo feeling a thing, Si Ye pulled his hand back. "There. It’s gone. He can’t sense your location anymore."
"Mm." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
After eating a little something, Sang Luo quickly fell asleep.
Si Ye sat by the bed, gently stroking the hair back from her forehead. His expression was dark and unreadable.
’Luoluo is still heartbroken, one way or another. If she truly felt nothing for him, how could she have conceived this child?’
’How dare that bastard make her so angry!’
Si Ye stormed off to the Phoenix Palace.
It was just before dawn, around 3:00 AM. Fei Yuan had returned to the palace to see Sang Luo, but he couldn’t find her anywhere.
He tried to sense the tracking mark he had left on her, but it was completely unresponsive.
He anxiously asked an attendant,
"Where did she go?"
"You have the gall to ask where she went? You made her so angry she went back to my home!"
Fei Yuan looked at the furious Si Ye who had just burst in, his long eyes narrowing. "Angry? What would she have to be angry with me about? If something in the palace made her unhappy, she could have just told me. Storming off in a silent fit of pique isn’t her style."
Fei Yuan started to head for the Marquis Mansion to bring her back.
But Si Ye blocked his path, refusing to let him pass.
Fei Yuan’s voice deepened. "I am going to bring Luo’er back. She is pregnant with my child and must be under my personal care."
Si Ye sneered. "You don’t need to trouble yourself over Luoluo. You should go back to your old flame and new darling, that Charming Concubine. Frolic with her day and night, and may you have a precious child soon."
"Le Xia..." Fei Yuan froze for a second, then asked in a low voice, "She knows?"
"If you don’t want anyone to know, you shouldn’t have done it in the first place. Now that you’ve done it, are you afraid of Luoluo finding out?"
Si Ye glared at him viciously, suppressing the urge to attack. "I’ll ask you one last time on Luoluo’s behalf. If you’re willing to drive that unrelated female out of the Imperial Palace and sever all these messy ties, I can still persuade Luoluo to come back. Otherwise, you can forget about ever seeing her again!"
"...I can agree to anything else she asks, but Le Xia must stay in the Imperial Palace."
Si Ye’s expression shifted. "You! You didn’t actually sleep with that female, did you?"
"Oh? Did she ask you to find out?"
"How dare you betray Luoluo!"
"I never formed a Soul Contract with her. Whatever I do, it cannot be considered a betrayal." Fei Yuan had no intention of saying more. "Tell her to focus on the child. If she needs anything, she can come to the Imperial Palace to find me."
"And you know she’s carrying your child!" Si Ye struck first.
"Enough! The Imperial Palace is not a place for you to run amok."
In the early morning, the Imperial Palace was thrown into chaos, the air filled with thunderous explosions.
...
Back at the Marquis Mansion, Sang Luo slept until late in the morning. When she woke up, she cast a Cleaning Technique on herself, pulled a few Spirit Fruits from her storage space, and ate her fill. She was about to get out of bed to find Si Ye but discovered he wasn’t there.
She heard from a servant that he had gone to the Phoenix Palace that morning and gotten into a fight with Fei Yuan.
’...’ ’How reckless.’
Si Ye only tiptoed back around noon, not expecting to be ambushed by Sang Luo waiting at the door. He’d been caught.
"Luoluo, I..." He covered half his face and turned away.
Sang Luo walked over and pulled his hand away. She saw several bloody scratches on his face and a bruise at the corner of his mouth. She was both amused and exasperated. "Did you have nothing better to do? Why would you go pick a fight with him?"
’Fei Yuan must have held back. In a real fight, Si Ye is no match for him.’
"I wanted to stand up for you."
"You nearly became a punching bag yourself, and you wanted to stand up for me?" A wisp of pale green energy flowed from Sang Luo’s fingertips, and the cuts on Si Ye’s face healed in an instant. "You should be grateful that Fei Yuan only taught you a small lesson for your insolence, on account of you being his own nephew. If he had truly fought back, you’d be half-dead."
"You’re still defending him," Si Ye mumbled under his breath. "Besides, I didn’t lose! I burned down several of his palace halls, and he was the one who called for a stop first. It was a draw at most!"
’...’ ’Fei Yuan really went far too easy on him.’
Sang Luo shook her head and smiled. "Ah Ye, you’re overthinking this. I don’t have those kinds of feelings for him. I was angry, but I got over it after a night’s sleep. It wasn’t worth you going all the way to the Imperial Palace to fight him."
’Her feelings for Fei Yuan stemmed from lust, at best. That shallow connection would quickly dissipate now that they were apart. Then there was gratitude—he had risked his life to save Ah Ze, which had genuinely moved her. But beyond that... there was nothing else.’
Si Ye looked at her stomach. "Let me have this baby. I’ll raise it!"
"Fine, you can raise it. From now on, you’re its father."
Having been gifted a child just like that, Si Ye was all smiles.
In the days that followed, Sang Luo stayed at the Marquis Mansion to focus on her pregnancy in peace, and Si Ye took wonderful care of her.
"Luoluo, time to eat~"
That evening, Si Ye walked to her bedside and handed her a piping hot roasted sweet potato wrapped in a cloth napkin.
Sang Luo hadn’t eaten a roasted sweet potato in ages. She had casually mentioned it the night before last, and Si Ye had secretly procured several crates of sweet potatoes to practice roasting until he finally mastered the heat and timing.
Sang Luo peeled off the charred, blackened skin. This was the best way to eat them—roasted until they were fragrant and a little burnt!
The flesh inside was orange-yellow and syrupy, so soft a gentle squeeze would make it ooze sweetness. It was fragrant, sweet, and tender.
She took a bite and hissed, the heat searing the tip of her tongue.
Si Ye quickly took the sweet potato, blew on it a few times, and handed it back to her.
By the time Sang Luo had finished the first one, he had already peeled several more for her.
After she had eaten them all, she was surprisingly a bit full.
"I want to eat grilled skewers tonight!" Sang Luo licked her lips.
"Alright. I’ll go prepare the racks and charcoal. We can have a barbecue in the courtyard tonight."
"Okay!"
「In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed.」
Sang Luo’s life at the Marquis Mansion was comfortable and pleasant, as Si Ye never told her anything about what was happening at the Imperial Palace.
But if she wanted to know, she had her ways. And even when she didn’t, the idle chatter of the servants would eventually reach her ears.
Fei Yuan never gave Le Xia an official title, but she had remained in the Imperial Palace at the emperor’s side. In the eyes of the public, this explained everything.
「Another two months passed.」
It had now been over three months since Sang Luo left the Phoenix Palace.
A whole bag of Immortal Grade Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures was almost gone!
’This much would have lasted at least a year during her previous pregnancies.’
Si Ye was also anxiously searching for food for her, bustling about day in and day out. He had lost a noticeable amount of weight.
And Fei Yuan, the biological father, hadn’t sent over so much as a blade of grass this whole time.
The more Sang Luo thought about it, the angrier she became.
’She didn’t care if he was with another female, but it made no sense for Si Ye to be the one actually supporting this child.’
’I can’t let him get away with this.’
’He has to contribute either money or effort! At the very least, he needs to provide the food to raise his child!’
’And there’s still the Reincarnation Pill he owes me. I have to get that back, too.’
Taking advantage of Si Ye’s absence while he was out searching for food, Sang Luo went to the Phoenix Palace herself.
