Chapter 254: Chapter 198: Family Portrait

When Sang Luo arrived at the Sea Palace, Uncle Su told her that Ah Ze was still asleep in the Spirit Lake. For him, sleep was the fastest way to heal and recover. She just had no idea how long he would be unconscious. The thought of Lou Xianyue, who used to sleep for decades or even centuries at a time, came to mind... She patted her belly and sighed, wondering if he would even be there for the birth of this child.

Sang Luo went to Chenghuan Hall to find Little Blue Eucalyptus and ran into the Grand Tutor, Zai Xin, who was holding a thick stack of scrolls.

"Elder Zai, are all of these for Little An?"

"Queen, you’ve returned! Little Majesty will be thrilled. These are all official documents I’ve selected for Little Majesty to practice reviewing." Zai Xin sighed, looking troubled. "Little Majesty is the most intelligent and brilliant child I have ever met, but he has no patience. I have to coax him as I teach. After just a short while, he claims he’s hungry or sleepy, whining and making a fuss. I’m at my wit’s end."

Sang Luo’s lips curved into a soft smile. "King Beast cubs are precocious, but Little An is still only two years old. It’s an age where they’re very playful. No child would be interested in looking at these dull and tedious documents every day."

"You have a point, Queen. But with His Majesty still unconscious, I can only follow his prior edict."

"Thank you for your hard work, Elder Zai. Please give me the scrolls. I’ll take over teaching Little An for a few days. It will be a small vacation for him, and you can also get some rest. You’ve earned it."

"Then I thank you for your consideration, Queen." Zai Xin handed her the scrolls, bowed, and excused himself.

Sang Luo put the scrolls into her personal space and walked into Chenghuan Hall.

"Little An—"

Little Blue Eucalyptus had just finished eating. Hearing her voice, he looked toward the door and opened his arms. "Mommy!"

Sang Luo bent down, scooped him into her arms, and kissed his fair, tender cheek. "How have you been lately? Did you miss Mommy?"

"Little An is so tired, I almost didn’t have time to miss Mommy," Blue Eucalyptus pouted.

Seeing his aggrieved little expression, Sang Luo chuckled. "Mommy heard that Uncle Zai Xin has been giving you a lot of work. He says Little An is making great progress, so Mommy has a reward for you."

She took a building block house set from her space. She had bought it on her last trip back to the Western Continent, along with many other fun, educational toys for the children.

It was the first time Blue Eucalyptus had seen such a thing, and he was completely fascinated.

Sang Luo opened the package and glanced at the instruction manual. The set was for a spooky haunted house called *Mad Laboratory*. The box listed the assembly difficulty as three-and-a-half stars. It contained several thousand blocks, and the goal was to create an eerie, terrifying lighting effect inside the haunted house using many wires and small light bulbs.

Sang Luo had intended to build it with Little Blue Eucalyptus to strengthen their mother-son bond, but she soon found herself getting overwhelmed. She studied the manual for a long time. "This red wire is supposed to go under the table..."

"The blue wire goes under the table. The red number 3 wire should be threaded through the shelf. Mommy, you got it wrong!"

"Oh, right, right, it goes here. Little An, you’re so observant!"

Having been praised, Little Blue Eucalyptus happily wagged his tail and assembled the blocks with even more effort and concentration.

He quickly assembled a small hospital bed and fixed it to the floor, then started on a window. "Mommy, the window frame is missing a piece. I can’t fit it into the wall."

"Let Mommy look. Ugh, I just saw it a moment ago." Sang Luo searched through the pile of blocks by her legs but couldn’t find it. "It didn’t fall into the pool, did it?"

"I’ll go look." Blue Eucalyptus swam a few laps around the bottom of the pool, searching through his collection of precious stones, coral, and various treasures. He soon clambered onto the bank clutching a small block. "Mommy, I found it."

Sang Luo took the block from his hand and fixed the window.

Worried the blocks would get scattered again, she took out several storage boxes from her space and sorted the large pile on the floor by shape and size, making them easier to pick out.

Mother and son were busy until evening, when they finally finished the little haunted house. Sang Luo had been sitting on the floor for hours and was aching all over. It was more exhausting than fighting Demon Beasts for an entire day!

’Playing with a child is hard work, too.’

Little An was filled with a sense of accomplishment, absolutely thrilled as he held the haunted house that was almost as big as him. He wanted to put it at the bottom of his pool with his other treasures, but he found that the blocks floated and wouldn’t sink. He tried to push it down with his tail, but it just bobbed right back up.

"The blocks are less dense than water, so they won’t sink. How about Mommy puts a shelf for you next to the pool, and we can place the haunted house on it?" Sang Luo took a five-tiered shelf from her space and set it against the wall. "Mommy has lots of other fun block sets in her space. From now on, every time we finish one, we’ll put it on the shelf. After a year, we can see how many sets Mommy and Little An have built."

"Mommy’s the best!" Blue Eucalyptus’s eyes sparkled as he looked at her. His future days now seemed full of promise.

For the next few days, Sang Luo spent her time playing with her son.

During the day, the two of them would wander around outside. When they returned to the hall, they would build with blocks.

Little An was intelligent and diligent by nature, and very meticulous in his work. After just a few days of playing, he could already challenge himself with a five-star difficulty set on his own.

"Mommy has other toys in her space. Go take a look and grab whatever you want to play with."

Sang Luo sent him into her space.

It was Blue Eucalyptus’s first time in the space, and he was deeply amazed. ’Mommy’s space is huge!’

Food, daily necessities, toys, Cultivation supplies—it had everything.

But Mommy didn’t like to tidy up, so it was a mess here and there. Blue Eucalyptus couldn’t stand it and organized the space a little.

When he didn’t come out for a long time, Sang Luo asked, "Did you find a toy you want to play with?"

"Mommy, what’s this?" he asked, coming out with a puzzle set in his arms.

"I almost forgot. I actually have several puzzle sets in my space. I was originally going to have you practice with some simpler ones first, but it looks like that’s not necessary now."

"This puzzle... it’s Mommy, Little An, and Daddy! The pink flower petals in the background are so pretty! There are so many petals in Mommy’s hair! So pretty!"

Sang Luo took the puzzle and looked at it, a reminiscent, gentle smile on her face. "Do you remember, Little An? This is a picture Daddy took of us when we went to the Secret Realm last time. Mommy thought the photo was so beautiful that she had it made into a puzzle."

"Mhm! Little An wants to do this puzzle!"

"Okay, let’s do it together."

Practice had made Little An perfect. A three or four-hundred-piece puzzle was already something he could handle with ease, and he assembled it quickly.

Sang Luo couldn’t even get a hand in, feeling slightly awkward.

In less than half an hour, he had finished the picture. He looked at Sang Luo expectantly. "Mommy, I want to see it every day as soon as I open my eyes."

"Let Mommy think... How about we hang it on the opposite wall? That way, when you wake up and swim out of the pool every day, you’ll see it right away."

Little An nodded. He reached out to grab it, and the puzzle almost fell apart. "How do we hang it on the wall?"

Sang Luo took a picture frame from her space, one that was about the same size as the puzzle. She helped him seal the puzzle with a protective layer before mounting it in the frame and hanging it on the wall. From a distance, it looked just like a family portrait.

Little An looked from side to side. Something was still missing. He looked at Sang Luo’s big belly. "Mommy, is my little sister going to be born soon?"
