Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 249 - 193: The Only Good Dream I’ve Ever Had Is You
Lou Xianyue dragged his body onto the altar.
After letting his blood for two consecutive months, his figure was more gaunt and frail than ever. His once-dazzling long silver hair was now dry and dull, and his face was so deathly pale it looked as if a gust of wind could knock him over.
Beneath the altar, a distorted, black-hole-like vortex churned. From high above, it resembled a giant eye slowly opening, greedily watching all of creation. Countless malevolent wisps of Black Qi flew out from the Eye of the Ruins, transforming into phantoms of all kinds of Exotic Beasts. They let out strange, piercing roars as they swarmed out in every direction.
Infinitely long, crimson threads crisscrossed high in the sky, forming a densely woven net that contained the Eye of the Ruins, attempting to trap the escaping Black Qi.
But after holding on for so long, the net was on the verge of collapse. One by one, the blood threads disintegrated, and gaping tears appeared in the web. The Evil Beasts madly squeezed through the openings, pouring out!
"SNAP—"
"POP!"
More and more blood threads snapped. The abyssal rift grew wider, escaping his control completely.
"Has she left?"
"Your Majesty, have you forgotten? The Queen left two months ago."
"...After I’m gone, if she comes for Little An, give the child to her."
"Young Master." It had been a hundred years since Uncle Su had called Lou Xianyue that.
Lou Xianyue gave a bitter smile. "I thought I could stay by her side a while longer, at least until Little An was grown, so I could personally raise him to be a fine Monarch. But this is good too. This child can stay with Sang’er, free and unrestrained. When she sees the child, she’ll remember me. She won’t slowly forget me... I... I both want her to remember me forever... and yet I don’t want her memories of me to be filled with only sorrow..."
His murmuring voice grew softer and softer.
Everyone else had been dismissed.
He was left alone on the altar.
A silver dagger plunged toward his heart, yet he felt no pain. Lou Xianyue’s eyes flew open to see Sang Luo, who had rushed to his side, gripping the dagger tightly. The sharp blade had pierced through the flesh and bone of her right hand. "Sang’er!"
His eyes immediately reddened with panic. He grabbed her hand, trembling, but Sang Luo only moved closer, as if she couldn’t feel the pain, allowing the dagger to drive completely through her palm. Blood dripped down from their joined hands.
Her eyes were bloodshot as she gritted her teeth. "Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you hide this from me? Were you planning to sacrifice the child, or were you planning to sacrifice yourself?!"
He kissed her, losing control as his salty tears streamed into her mouth. "I never intended to sacrifice our child!"
"You’re such a fool!" Sang Luo’s tears fell too, blurring her vision. Her other hand trembled as she reached for Lou Xianyue’s chest. It was the first time she had seen him in black, and she now realized the clothes were completely soaked. Her hand came away sticky, reeking of copper.
She tore open the clothes on his chest!
The sight was more horrific than she had imagined. His chest was so gaunt his ribs protruded, and his pale, bluish skin was covered in a dense constellation of pinprick-like wounds. The crimson threads in the air were seeping from these very wounds, while more blood flowed down his legs onto the altar, staining nearly the entire platform a gruesome red.
"Sang’er, don’t... don’t look... It’s too hideous..." Lou Xianyue’s tone was almost a plea as he hastily tried to cover the wounds with his clothes.
Sang Luo was furious. "You’ve almost bled dry, and this is what you call ’fine’? How long were you going to lie to me? Until the very end?! Were you not even going to let me see you one last time before you died?!"
She wrenched the dagger from her hand. Blood gushed out, and she pressed her wound to his lips, feeding it all to him.
"COUGH, COUGH!" Lou Xianyue choked on the blood, a trickle of it running down the corner of his mouth. He didn’t want to drink her blood but lacked the strength to resist, allowing a frantic Sang Luo to force it upon him, using her life force to restore the little he had left.
Normally, her blood was a panacea, incredibly effective; it had even easily cured the Poisonous Gu that had plagued Fei Yuan for centuries. But now, though Sang Luo fed him so much blood that she herself was growing dizzy from the loss, Lou Xianyue’s condition barely improved.
"Why?"
Unwilling to give up, she picked up the dagger from the ground, intending to cut herself again.
Lou Xianyue suddenly grabbed her hand. With the last of his strength, he pulled her into a tight embrace, his tears mingling with the blood on his face. "Don’t, Sang’er. If you keep going, you’ll lose your own life..."
"Meeting you was the greatest fortune of my life. To have had two children with you... I have no regrets..."
"Did you know, Sang’er? I was born as a sacrifice, one that no one thought anything of..."
"After I was born, my mother never looked at me once, nor did she give me her blessing.
"I never even had a blessing ceremony. No one would prepare one for a sacrifice. When I saw you personally give your blessing to Little An, do you know how envious I was? I never thought the only person I would ever envy in my life would be my own son..."
"Even this life of mine... I was only allowed to keep it because my older brother died an untimely death..."
"After I was born, my power was used to maintain the seal, which is why I was always in a deep slumber. But Sang’er, I was so scared of sleeping. Every time I fell asleep, I was terrified I would never wake up again..."
"I was so lonely during those hundred years of slumber. I had so many nightmares... The only sweet dream I ever had... was you."
"You were the one who woke me, who gave me the greatest warmth I’ve ever known. You, Little An, and our unborn child in your belly are my only reasons for wanting to remain in this world."
"You were a beam of light in the cold Deep Sea, illuminating a life that should have been devoid of hope..."
Sang Luo looked at him, so choked with emotion she couldn’t speak.
"I always listen to you, no matter what. So this time, will you please listen to me?" Lou Xianyue cupped her tear-streaked face with his gaunt, pale hands and, just as he always had, lightly kissed her lips. "Leave this place."
A blinding light, like the sun, suddenly erupted from the altar. Lou Xianyue immediately pushed her away, but Sang Luo clung to him, falling with him into the darkness.
"Ah Ze, no one may have chosen you, but you are my unwavering choice."
"No one believed in you, but you were my heaven-sent savior, rescuing me time and time again."
"This time, it’s my turn to save you."
The sun and moon were banished by chaos, leaving only an endless, grey gloom. The entire world seemed to be shrouded in a hazy black fog, making everything blurry and indistinct. Not a single weed grew on the barren ground; there was nothing but stones on the blackened earth.
A toad as massive as a hill crouched on a cracked riverbed that had been dry for millennia. Excitement flashed in its bulging, scarlet eyes as it opened its great maw, aiming for the two figures falling from the sky.
The next second, a flash of blood-red light erupted, and the toad was cleaved in two.
The gushing pillar of blood filled the dry riverbed, and Water began to flow once more.
Sang Luo landed steadily, holding Lou Xianyue in her arms.
The air was thick with black Demonic Qi.
