Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 164 - 108: Also a Commemorative Gift for You
Lan Cang hadn’t woken her when he got up that morning. Sang Luo slept all the way until high noon, only to be roused by the lively commotion outside. She was hungry when she awoke, and fortunately, there was a meal Lan Cang had prepared in the refrigerator. All she had to do was warm it in a pot.
After eating, most of Sang Luo’s drowsiness had faded, and she headed to the reception hall.
Dozens of people were gathered in the hall, most of whom were Lan Cang’s trusted confidants. Sang Luo recognized most of them to some extent, and there were a few familiar faces, like Asa. Ever since she had given birth, that boy had been running to the City Lord Mansion every single day. He called it "coming over to help out," but in reality, his eyes were always fixed on the three little cubs! Whenever the kids went missing at home, looking for them at Asa’s place next door was always the right move.
"Happy full moon celebration, Young Masters! Quick, make a wish~ Blow out the candles~"
Asa was a Beastman from the Western Continent. Compared to the rough brutes of the North Continent, he placed more importance on ceremony. He had personally made three small frosted cakes and was having the little cubs blow out the candles.
The three little cubs wore small crowns crookedly on their heads, the sides tucked behind their ears to keep them from falling off.
Zhuizui stared eagerly at the cake. At his young age, he had no worries and no wishes. He obediently blew out his candle at once and then hurried over to eat cake.
Zhi Xin followed her gluttonous older brother’s lead.
The two little cubs were soon covered in frosting.
Little Stone was far more reserved. Seeing so many people watching, he was too embarrassed to take a bite. He sat primly on his high stool. When he heard a sound at the door, his ears twitched, and he immediately whipped his head around, letting out two little yelps. ’Mother’s here!’
All eyes in the room turned to Sang Luo. She walked over, stroking the three little cubs’ heads with a smile. "You three are the stars of the show today. I can’t steal your spotlight."
"But without you, Madam, we wouldn’t have these three adorable cubs! You’re the one who deserves the most credit. If you ask me, you’re the true guest of honor at this banquet. Am I right, everyone?" Asa chimed in from the side, stirring up the crowd.
"That’s right! The Young Masters’ full moon feast is certainly cause for celebration, but we must also remember that on this very day last month, it wasn’t just when the Young Masters were born—it was also the day the Beast Mother suffered. I still remember when my own partner gave birth; she fainted from the pain and nearly died. It’s heart-wrenching to even think about..."
"You’ve worked hard, Madam. Let’s toast to you!"
"To the Madam!"
"Thank you, everyone. I’m not much of a drinker, so with this one glass, I’ll toast to all of you!"
Before Sang Luo could even take a sip of her wine, Lan Cang, who had been watching from the doorway, strode over. He took the cup from her hand, downed it in one gulp, and then refilled it. Raising the cup to the crowd, he smiled. "I’ll drink Luoluo’s toast for her."
Sang Luo shot him a grateful glance. Lan Cang tilted his head slightly and smiled back at her. He had always known she wasn’t good at handling these kinds of occasions.
After a few rounds of drinks, Lan Cang took Sang Luo to check on the cubs. Just then, they saw Lan Ruo coming through the door. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Brother, Sister-in-law, I accidentally overslept. I’m not late, am I?"
"Not at all, your timing is perfect. The party’s just getting started," Sang Luo said with a smile.
"That’s a relief!" Lan Ruo looked toward his three little nephews and took out three brocade boxes, looking a bit apologetic. "Your uncle doesn’t have anything fancy to give you, just a few little trinkets. When I’m rich someday, I’ll definitely buy you something better!"
He gave each of the cubs a colorful Crystal Stone bracelet.
They weren’t particularly useful, but they were beautiful.
The little cubs loved exactly this kind of flashy, pretty trinket.
Snow Moon City, Wutang City, Qianlong City... several nearby allied cities had also sent envoys, who brought many congratulatory gifts.
Aliya came in person to represent Snow Moon City. Her eyes lit up the moment she saw Zhi Xin. The little cub looked so much like a youngling of her Snow Spirit Fox clan. Aliya was utterly smitten. She secretly gave Zhi Xin an extra pair of anklets and even approached Sang Luo to ask if she could take Zhi Xin as her goddaughter.
Sang Luo didn’t have strong feelings either way. Snow Moon City was an ancient, native city of the North Continent with a considerable sphere of influence. Aliya could very well become its City Lord one day. If Little Zhi Xin could have a City Lord for a godmother, it would be a great asset for expanding her own power in the North Continent in the future.
However, just because Snow Moon City and Ice-breaking City were allies now didn’t guarantee a peaceful relationship in the future. It was too soon to make such a decision. Therefore, Sang Luo politely declined. Aliya didn’t seem too heartbroken and said that whenever Sang Luo had the time, she should bring the children to Snow Moon City to play.
「By evening, the banquet was over, and the guests had begun to depart.」
The servants began cleaning up the aftermath.
The gifts piled in front of the three little cubs had almost formed three small mountains.
Sang Luo stroked their heads. "The Peace Locks I gave you were forged with Space Power. They are also a type of small Space Storage Treasure. Now be good and put all your presents away inside them."
The little cubs obediently sorted their gifts and placed them neatly inside their storage spaces. Only after Sang Luo had checked their work did she let them go rest.
Sang Luo stretched, then turned and headed for her room.
’Entertaining guests really takes a lot out of you,’ she thought. After a long day, she too needed to go back and get a good night’s sleep.
The moment she opened the door, a rich floral fragrance filled her senses. She froze. The North Continent was perpetually frigid, a place where nothing grew. She hadn’t seen a flower in a long time since arriving here, let alone smelled one.
Sang Luo stared, dumbfounded, at the room full of exquisitely arranged fresh flowers.
’This is...’
"Luoluo, what everyone said at the party... I wanted to say it too. This day isn’t just to commemorate the cubs. It’s for you, too." Lan Cang had appeared at some point and was now hugging her from behind. He turned her to face him and handed her a large bouquet.
The bouquet was a riot of vibrant purples and reds, the blossoms in full, delicate bloom. It was a rare splash of bright color in this land of ice and snow. She had no idea where he’d managed to find them.
Sang Luo took the flowers, her face growing warm as she gazed into his deep, affectionate eyes. Standing on her tiptoes, she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and laughed. "I always thought you were the most strait-laced, honest type. I never expected you to get so romantic. Who have you been learning from? Don’t tell me Asa gave you secret lessons!"
’I already feel like we’re an old married couple,’ she thought, ’but he still knows how to make my heart flutter.’
"N-no, I didn’t learn from anyone. I just wanted to give them to you." Seeing Sang Luo walk toward the vase by the window with the flowers, Lan Cang quickly said, "Wait, Luoluo, take another look. A closer look. See if there’s anything else hidden inside."
Tucked within the bouquet, Sang Luo found a ring.
It was set with a piece of blood-Red Jade that pulsed with an incredibly pure, dense power.
"This is..."
"It’s a crystal I refined from my own heart’s blood. It carries my longing for you and a part of my power. I hope that when I can’t be by your side, it can stay with you in my place. Whenever you see it, you’ll think of me." Lan Cang walked over, took the ring, and slipped it onto her finger.
Sang Luo’s eyes began to sting. A Beastman only has a single drop of heart’s blood; it is uniquely precious, and the process of extracting it is excruciatingly painful. She had no idea when he had...
"Cang, I’ll wear this ring. And I will treasure it always."
Sang Luo placed the bouquet in the vase, then turned and initiated another kiss, this one far more lingering. He wrapped his arms around her waist, leaning in to deepen it...
