Chapter 163: Chapter 107: Full Moon Ceremony, Giving Gifts

Lan Cang also took off his outer coat, leaving on only his white under-robe. His shoulders were broad and his back straight, accentuating his excellent physique. His collar was lazily unfastened, revealing a hint of honey-toned skin in the light.

"Luoluo, you’re so devoted to the children."

The bedding sank slightly as he spoke, settling onto his side next to her. With a sweep of his long arm, he hooked her into his firm, warm embrace.

Sang Luo snuggled comfortably into his embrace and nuzzled against him. She tilted her head up slightly and planted a kiss on his prominent Adam’s apple. "They’re our children, so of course I have to dote on them~"

She grumbled playfully, "So far, the ones I’ve devoted the most effort to are these three pups of yours. Especially Little Zhi Xin—she almost cost her poor mother half her life."

"I’ll be sure to discipline them strictly in the future," Lan Cang said, though he couldn’t suppress the smile playing on his lips.

He gently stroked Sang Luo’s long, smooth hair, his palm pressing lightly against the back of her head. His other large hand slid to her waist, adjusting her posture so she could lie even more snugly and comfortably in his embrace. "It’s still a while until the wee hours. Get some sleep first. When the hour comes, I promise I’ll be the first to wake you."

Sang Luo was indeed exhausted. She murmured a soft "mhm" and quickly fell asleep.

A blizzard began to rage outside again, while inside, the warm, orange light of the fireplace flickered. Lan Cang pulled the blanket up a bit higher, covering half of her face.

He hadn’t slept at all. As he watched the clock, the very moment it ticked past midnight, Lan Cang gently woke the drowsy Sang Luo in his arms. He reminded her with a smile, "Are the gifts for the children ready?"

"Right, right! The gifts! Of course, I prepared them ages ago. They’re in my storage space, just waiting for them... Go bring the children over." Sang Luo was instantly wide awake.

Lan Cang got out of bed, went to the room next door, and brought back the three little pups, who were fast asleep.

The pups woke up quickly, each blinking their round, beautiful eyes in a daze. Sang Luo took three exquisitely crafted Peace Locks from her storage space and hung them around their short little necks.

Each lock was on a red woven cord, strung symmetrically with a few translucent, pure-white Spirit Jade beads. In the very center hung a silver-like Peace Lock engraved with beautiful patterns of flowers, trees, birds, and fish. At the heart of the openwork design was a large character representing "Fortune." Three small silver bells dangled from the bottom of the lock, and beside it was a small silver nameplate engraved with the pup’s name.

Wearing the Peace Locks, the three fluffy, chubby little pups looked even more precious and adorable.

They looked like three plush toys in a shop window that had suddenly come to life!

"AWOO~" Little Stone’s shiny black eyes went wide. He curiously pawed at the Peace Lock around his neck, making the little bells jingle softly. He was utterly fascinated.

Zhuizui and Zhi Xin were no longer sleepy either. They looked happily at the smiling Sang Luo and tilted their little heads, as if to ask, ’What special day is it today, Mom?’

Sang Luo gathered the three little wolf pups into her arms and gently tapped each of their little heads. "Silly pups, today is your full moon celebration. It’s been exactly one month since you were born from Mommy’s belly. This is Mom’s full-moon gift to you. Do you like it?"

She had specifically chosen the wee hours of this day so she could be the first person to give her blessings to the pups.

The three little ones couldn’t speak yet, but their furiously wagging tails showed just how overjoyed and excited they were. Yipping happily, they propped their front paws on Sang Luo’s shoulders and covered her face in licks and nuzzles.

Sang Luo’s face was smeared with their slobber, leaving her at a loss for whether to laugh or cry. "Okay, okay, Mommy has given you her blessings! Now go find your daddy and ask for presents. Let’s see what goodies he prepared for you~"

Zhuizui was the quickest to react, immediately turning to find Lan Cang.

The other two, not to be outdone, quickly surrounded Lan Cang.

Their formation looked a bit like they were staging a roadside robbery.

Lan Cang chuckled and produced three necklaces from the wolf-shaped pendant he wore around his neck.

Each necklace featured a round, openwork jade pendant. The type and color of the three jade stones were all different.

One necklace was made of precious Moyu, and this one was for Little Stone.

Another necklace was made of a very rare, orange-red Spirit Jade that Sang Luo couldn’t immediately identify. Lan Cang placed this one around Zhuizui’s neck.

The final necklace used a white, icy-waxy type of jade, faintly translucent with a pure, sky-blue sheen, much like the color of Zhi Xin’s eyes. Lan Cang gently stroked his daughter’s head, then carefully placed the necklace around her neck.

The openwork carvings on the jade stones perfectly depicted the beast forms of the three little ones at one month old.

The pups’ physiques and appearances were largely similar, but with subtle differences in the details.

For example, Little Stone also looked round and plump, but compared to the other two, his build was leaner and taller, and he had upright ears. Even at such a young age, he was strikingly handsome, and one could easily imagine him growing into a magnificent male wolf.

Zhuizui appeared to be the chubbiest and roundest of the three. But in truth, Sang Luo had once weighed him and discovered this pup wasn’t actually that heavy; his fur was just the fluffiest, densest, and longest, which made him seem plumper. His paws were also thicker and wider than the others’, making him look a bit like a native species from the ice plains.

Sang Luo suspected he might be a variant species that had adapted to the special environment of the ice plains.

Whenever the three pups went out to play on snowy days, the other two were usually stuck inside, but Zhuizui was completely unaffected.

Perhaps because she was the female cub, Little Zhi Xin had a smaller and more delicate build than her two brothers. Her face was also more tapered, which made her features and ears seem larger in comparison. At the very tips of her ears were small tufts of snow-white, silvery fur, making her exceptionally pretty and cute.

Lan Cang had spent the entire month hand-carving these necklaces. They were exquisitely lifelike, precisely capturing the similarities and differences between the three pups. It was obvious at a glance just how carefully he observed his little ones every day.

In the center of the openwork jade, there was a blood-red stone about the size of a fingernail. As for what was inside it... Curious, Sang Luo picked up Little Zhi Xin and examined the necklace closely, only then discovering that it held a small tuft of the soft baby fur they’d had at birth.

Besides being precious, the gift also held great sentimental value.

"Your gift is so much more thoughtful than mine." Sang Luo knew what this Red Jade was the moment she touched it.

’It’s Blood Jade, condensed from Lan Cang’s own lifeblood.’

’Even when the children grow up and leave their side, this will be able to protect them in his stead.’

Lan Cang gave Sang Luo a gentle look, seeming to want to say something but holding back. He lifted the pups from Sang Luo’s lap, set them on the floor, and ruffled their little heads. "You three little rascals go back to bed and get some more sleep. Rest up, because when morning comes, there will be a lot of presents waiting for you."

Upon hearing this, the three little pups were too excited to sleep. Lan Cang had to carry them back to the bed in the next room and spend some time coaxing them back to sleep. Only then did he return to his own room, climb into bed, and hold Sang Luo. "You should hurry and get some sleep too," he said gently. "It’s going to be very lively during the day. You won’t be able to sleep then, even if you want to."

"You’ve already prepared everything?" Sang Luo hugged him back, her voice muffled against his chest.

"Mhm. I started working on it half a month ago. Something unexpected came up a few days ago, but thankfully, I still managed to finish in time."

"Hehe~ That certainly saved me some trouble. How many people did you invite?"

"Ice-breaking City has been quiet for so long; it’s time for a proper celebration. Besides, Luoluo, you have no idea how much the city’s residents adore these three little Young Masters. At first, I was only going to invite a few close friends and family for a private celebration. But the people were so enthusiastic that I couldn’t refuse them. So, I decided to hold a grand banquet throughout the entire city so we can all celebrate their full moon ceremony together."

"That’s for sure! I can’t even imagine how lively it’s going to be today!"

"Mhm, you should get some more sleep." Lan Cang patted her back gently, as if he were coaxing a child.

Sang Luo blushed and glanced at him before burrowing deeper into his embrace...
