From Apocalypse Boss to Farmer: My Vegetables Make Me Stronger!-Chapter 59 - 54: South City Restaurant
What came next would have to be discussed over dinner.
"Miss Gu, this way, please. I’ve already booked a table at the South City Restaurant." After the transaction was complete, Huang Er bowed and led the way, bringing Gu Xi’s group of three to the South City Restaurant.
"Since this is our first meeting, I wasn’t sure of everyone’s preferences, so I just ordered a few things at random. If my hospitality is lacking in any way, I hope you’ll forgive me," Huang Er said with a smile as he showed the three of them to their seats.
Qi Xiang glanced at the dishes on the table. It was standard fare, and not an excessive amount—just eight dishes.
But this detail alone showed that this Huang Er was no simple character.
He had clearly investigated Gu Xi’s group in advance, knowing they had six people. If you added him, the host, that made seven people at the table. Ordering eight dishes was quite appropriate.
Moreover, while the dishes were standard, there was a fruit platter placed in the center of the table.
That was a true luxury.
The group sat down and began to talk as they ate.
Of course, it was mainly Wei Heng and Huang Er who did the talking.
Gu Xi sat to the side, not saying much.
But Huang Er was clearly a savvy businessman. As they spoke, the topic naturally shifted to Gu Xi. "Miss Gu, at such a young age, you’ve already shown an astonishing talent for planting. Those sweet potatoes from earlier..." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Wei Heng smiled and smoothly took over the conversation. "Mr. Huang, you may not be aware, but a while ago, two agricultural experts came down from the Central Base and happened to choose the plot of land near us... Gu Xi has been studying with the two professors this entire time, so naturally, she’s learned a great deal..."
Huang Er just smiled.
"Eat, eat, everyone, don’t be shy. Here, Miss Qi, this watermelon is quite good. You and Miss Gu should both try some..." Huang Er enthusiastically encouraged them, acting as if his previous probing question had never happened.
But then Gu Xi suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Huang, you want to establish a long-term partnership with us, and that’s not a problem. However, I have a small matter that I’ll need your help with..."
This was the crucial part.
Huang Er immediately focused his attention.
"Please, speak, Miss Gu," he said with a serious expression.
Gu Xi casually picked up a slice of apple before speaking slowly. "As you know, Camp No. 9527 is too far from South City. It’s inevitable that we’re cut off from information..."
They were all intelligent people; there was no need to spell it out.
Sure enough, after hearing this, Huang Er looked up and gave Gu Xi a meaningful glance.
Although he was just a middleman, a reseller, he held considerable influence in South City. He knew people from all walks of life, so gathering a bit of information wouldn’t be difficult for him at all.
Furthermore, he had come to South City after taking off his military uniform with exactly this sort of mission in mind.
But for Gu Xi, a young woman who just farmed, to make such a request... that was rather intriguing.
And when you added Wei Heng’s identity as the former deputy captain of the Special Service Team...
Huang Er couldn’t help but read more into the situation.
He picked up a peanut for himself, not giving an immediate answer.
Gu Xi wasn’t in a hurry either. Her gaze casually swept across the main dining hall outside.
These days, not many people could afford to eat at the South City Restaurant, so the main hall was only sparsely occupied with a few tables.
It seemed they were all groups where someone was treating others to a meal. Laughter and conversation filled the air, creating a harmonious and lively atmosphere.
Only the three men at a table by the window in the far corner felt a bit strange to Gu Xi.
’Especially the man sitting by the window... he felt strangely familiar?’
’But she was sure she didn’t know him.’
’It was just... very strange.’
Gu Xi pulled her gaze back, a slow frown forming on her face.
"What is it?" Beside her, Qi Xiang grew curious and also looked out.
But she never expected that one look would be the start of trouble.
