Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime-Chapter 768 - Life is Irreversible_1
Chapter 768: Chapter 768 Life is Irreversible_1
If she hadn’t fallen in love with Alexander Summers, after discovering the truth, realizing that there was someone manipulating her life, how terrifying that would have been…
All her bewilderment stemmed from her love for him.
It was precisely because of this that she despised his despicable actions, but couldn’t bring herself to hate him as a person.
Jane McCain had been eloquent in her speech, but Zara Jameson only half understood.
“Purple, why would you ask that?” Zara Jameson asked her, puzzled, “Is this question very important?”
Purple Summers looked lost, sighing softly, “I don’t know…”
...
She was just too frustrated, unable to understand many things, yet questions asked aloud still went unanswered.
After lunch, they left the student cafeteria; Jane McCain, holding her unfinished ice cream, was eating it spoon by spoon when, unfortunately, a boy ran past from behind, bumping into her shoulder and causing the ice cream to drop out of her hand and splatter on the ground.
The guy quickly apologized and offered to buy her another one.
Jane McCain looked at the melted mess on the ground, pursed her lips, and said discontentedly, “Never mind, it’s okay.”
Seeing as the guy appeared to be in a hurry, he didn’t insist upon his offer after her response and, after apologizing again, hurried away.
Zara Jameson then teased Jane McCain, “Weren’t you saying just now that you absolutely couldn’t forgive him?”
Jane McCain gave a bitter smile, “Because it was just an ice cream.”

It was just an ice cream, gone now, and that’s that; it could be bought again anyway. Who would really make a big deal out of it?
But what if it were a person’s life? That’s irreversible. If the ritual had failed and Purple Summers hadn’t attempted suicide at that moment, she would have actually died…
Died from his mad and paranoid love.
…
In the evening, when school was over, Alexander Summers came to pick her up.
Even though he said nothing, Purple Summers could feel his repressed unease.
She sat in the car without a word, and Alexander Summers turned the car around and drove off; both pretended that nothing was amiss, yet the stiff atmosphere constantly reminded them of what had happened.
By dinner time, even the usually oblivious Atra Blanc noticed something was off between the siblings.
The dinner table was gloomy, and with Atra Blanc wanting to lighten the mood, she said with a smile, “We can go to the island again for the New Year. Cleo has been cooped up in the snake house lately and is almost suffocated by melancholy. Now, going to the island, she can have fun again…”
Purple Summers’s grip on her chopsticks tightened slightly.
She remembered that after the New Year, their family would move to Pearlpoint City.
Her heart wavered, uncertain if she was ready. Going to Pearlpoint City would mean leaving behind their social status as siblings and truly being together.
Now… could she be with him wholeheartedly, without any distractions?
Purple Summers hesitated.
It wasn’t that she no longer loved Alexander Summers; she just felt suffocated, feeling that she needed more time to sort out their relationship.
“About moving after the New Year, will there be enough time…” Purple Summers voiced her hesitation.
She wanted to ask if it was possible to postpone the moving.
Glancing up, she met Alexander Summers’ deep, dark eyes, the brooding shadows in them like heavy clouds pressing down, suffocatingly oppressive.
Purple Summers’s heart clenched painfully, a sharp ache throbbing through her.
She swallowed the words that had risen to her lips and stopped talking, bowing her head to silently continue eating.
“I’m done eating,” Alexander Summers put down his tableware, “I have plans with friends tonight; I’m going out for a bit.”
Atra Blanc hastily said, “Remember to come back early, okay?”
He hummed indifferently, stood up to put on his coat, and as he reached the entrance hall, he paused for some reason and said, “Mom, I’ll take Purple to school tomorrow. Let the driver sleep in; no need for him to wait.”
“Oh… okay,” Atra Blanc said, puzzled but nodding.
The door clicked open and then shut again; Alexander Summers had left.
Tears suddenly streamed down Purple Summers’s face, falling in a relentless cascade.
She didn’t even know why she was crying.
