Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 231: Traps of the Trickster
Celestia’s POV:
He could be anywhere around here! That is what Nakia had told us. All of us were extremely dazed. I know that capturing him won’t be an easy task; he is a trickster after all!
No one had any clue about the trickster’s whereabouts. But I don’t think that I would have to roam around the lands to search for him. He will come for me! I am the only thing that he needs.
Darius was the only one who seemed to be sane in this situation; he has got our father’s nerve in handling a crisis. He assumes that Silver Shadow must be hiding out somewhere in the woods of the Magelands. It is the starting point of the Southern lands—and those regions are always dense and evergreen.
If Silver Shadow is hiding out there, then it is not going to be an easy task in capturing him. This must be his plan all along; he wants us to get lost in the wilderness.
While I was standing dazed outside the cottage, Darius gathered everyone on the grassland ground, and now he was dividing all of the warriors into groups. He instructed the younglings to patrol in the streams while the Fathomless warriors were supposed to search in the dense woods.
Darius added that Edwin and Vivian should always stay by my side—and I know the reason for that. They are going to act as my bodyguards!
Once everything was settled, Darius led the way into the dense woods. I still didn’t feel good that Samuel got away with his crimes. He cleaned his dirty hands just by lying and acting.
This sucks! The one who breaks the law is easily able to get away with it, while the one who follows the law always struggles. Whatever! He is the least of my problems now—what I am about to face is nothing in comparison to this.
Even the moonlight was not reflecting down in the woods. The trees were so dense here, just like the forest of light. All the other Warrior Faes around me used their flames as the light balls to illuminate the place. I am the odd one out here!
Edwin and Darius were arguing about how dense this forest was.
"These woods are definitely larger than the forest of light—" Edwin said.
"No, this region is larger. It is very easy to get lost here—this is like a maze," Darius argued. "So I suggest that we all stick together and never leave each other’s side."
Just when I thought that things could not get any worse, I came to know that this region is like a maze. That trickster could divert us in different directions and make us lose our way.
I immediately tried to erase that thought from my mind. He could be lurking around here, and if he hears this—then I will be giving him ideas for his evil plan.
As we got deep into the wilderness, we came across a lot of wild creatures. Some were harmless creatures like stags, and some were a little dangerous, like panthers.
Then I realized that there was not much difference between the animal species among both the mortal and celestial realm. After thirty minutes of walking into the wilderness, my legs started to get hurt.
I can’t walk any more than this! I moved aside from the gang and leaned beside a tree trunk. I tried hard to catch my breath while I wondered why the others weren’t tired like me.
The whole gang halted because of me. Darius came running to me and asked," Celestia, are you alright?"
"Yes, I am! But my feet are killing me—" I sighed and sat down on the ground. I am now seated on the grounds of the dense woods in the dark; I had no idea what insects or creatures were lurking around me. What if there are lizards here?
Darius understood my pain, and he instructed everyone else to take a rest for a while. Then he sat beside me under the tree. "Celestia, listen to me. I am opening a portal to the castle now. You just leave—"
"No, I don’t want to go," I cried out while I was massaging my calf with my hands. "I want to make sure that he gets captured."
Darius raised his hand, in which he had the ball of blue light to his chest level. Now the whole surrounding around me got blue because of his flames. But his expression alone was unreadable to me.
"Just remember that his goal is to get you! So if you leave now, then he can’t win—"
Even though he was right, I refused to accept it. I was so much looking forward to capturing him. Perhaps I should just follow the advice of my past life mentor Darius.
"Okay, I will leave now," I sighed.
A smile formed on the edges of his lips. "You made the right decision, Celestia. Even if Silver Shadow defeats us all, then he can’t actually win—as he won’t be able to get you—"
At that moment, the sharp noise of someone screaming almost hurt my ears. Even though my legs were hurting like hell, I got back to my feet immediately. I gripped my bow firmly and turned in the direction of the noise.
Then again, that sharp noise echoed out of nowhere. "Master..... Darius...." shouted a scared voice. It must be Laris! What happened to him?
Very soon, he appeared before us from the darkness. All the warriors directed their ray of flames from their palms towards him. His golden armor was broken, and his robes were torn out a little. I was horrified when I saw blood in his mouth. Someone must have punched him in his face.
"Master Darius, Vivian is gone...." he shouted in agony.
"What do you mean by Vivian is gone?" Darius yelled at him.
Laris took a moment to pull himself together. Then he said," A girl with black hair attacked us both. Vivian tried hard to defeat her, but she was too strong—"
I didn’t have to think too much in comprehending who that black-haired girl was. "It is Ivory," I blurted out and turned everyone’s attention towards me. "She is Silver Shadow’s close associate—and she is a Siren girl."
Darius glanced to my side and said, "Are you saying that a Siren girl could have tackled down a sturdy Fae warrior like Vivian?"
"Well..... but....." I stammered. He had a logical point. Sirens are not strong enough to defeat a Fae, let alone a Fathomless warrior Fae!
"That girl is a Siren?" Laris gasped and adjusted his tousled blonde hair. "She was pretty and scary, but she was not alluringly pretty. Her eyes were very red like that of a devil, and she was able to blast off red flames from her hand—"
"That is the Demon Princess Lilin," Darius shouted out and shook everyone one of us. "Only an Anti-Angel can cast off red flames, and the only girl who has the Nephilim powers is Lilin—"
I was mad at Silver Shadow before. But after I came to know that he is still associating with the Demon Princess to sabotage me, I got even madder. How dare he let her hurt my friends?!
Darius was mad too, but for a different reason. "Laris, now answer me why you two left the gang? I told you not to split up, didn’t I?"
"Yes, master! But it wasn’t my fault. Vivian lured me far away from here to scare me, and I fell to his trick—"
Darius got even more irritated by his explanation. "Stop talking, Laris! If you say another word, then I myself will deliver you to that Demon Princess Lilin."
"Master... I am sorry," Laris said and lowered his gaze on the ground.
"You are sorry? Do you realize the seriousness of your mistake? Vivian is captured now! What will I say to my father if something happens to him? For Aiden’s sake, he is one of the best warriors in our land—"
I started to pity poor Laris; he is not at fault here. He is just playful! The real criminal here is that trickster who is making these traps for us.
"Darius, we can still save Vivian if we try," I suggested.
"No, Celestia! The situation has gotten even worse than before. We are now obligated to face two Anti-Angels! Do you think that we have a shot here?"
His words filled my entire body with dread. Two Anti-Angels are after us now! This is a battle we are going to lose for sure. Perhaps he will succeed in abducting me before the night ends.
Darius then moved near me. "Celestia, I am opening the portal now. Just leave this place. I will find a way to stop him somehow, and I also have to save Vivian—"
"No, you can’t," I said as the tears clouded my eyes. "Silver Shadow needs only me! So I suggest that you all leave me alone here and flee this place. I will surrender to that trickster, and I will plead with him to release Vivian instead. This way, no one can get hurt—"
