Chapter 176: Has it been a thousand years?

Lilin’s POV:

Aaron was not very happy that I was leaving him. Somehow I managed to convince him that this is for the best. Then I realized the big mistake that I made.

I made him get too attached to me! I should not have let that happen. This is one of the mistakes that I made despite knowing the consequences of it. Whatever! I should deal with him later. I have a bigger issue to handle now.

It was early morning when I appeared at the entrance of the Shadow castle from the black fumes. The trees and shrubs around the castle had gotten so denser than the last time I was here.

The grasses on the ground and the flowers were wet with the dew. All the glory goes to the Goddess of the Spring! She has blessed the lands generously this time.

Just when I was admiring the beauty of the land, a howling noise woke me up to my senses. I scanned the surroundings around me anxiously.

A few seconds later, a strange black wolf emerged from the floral shrubs that were close to the garden entrance.

I was not at all scared by the wild creature that was approaching me. I was more surprised to see it.

The Shadow forest is so far away from the castle. How could this creature have gotten here? Only when I stared at its dazzling purple eyes, I realized that it is not just a wolf. It is my shapeshifting mentor who taught me the Dark arts.

"Master Hage! I know it’s you. You can come back to the normal form now," I said to the black wolf.

Then immediately, a dark smoke formed around the wolf, and it turned into a tall, sturdy man with beige skin and purple eyes. He was frowning at me in disappointment.

But why is he giving me that look? What mistake did I make now? I always get anxious when he sees me in disappointment. He is the only other person whom I am scared of after my mother.

I always strive hard to get his approval. When he instructs me to train hard, then I just follow it without a second thought.

"You should have gotten here earlier!" he growled at me and flipped his long dark hair away from his face. Even though he is now back to his normal form, his voice was still hoarse like that of a wolf.

"Master.... But I had no more duties here. That’s why I stayed in Ashland. If you had sent the message to me with a Raven to the ash castle earlier, then I would have arrived here in a heartbeat."

"Don’t lie to me, Lilin! You knew that the Dawn is back. Still, you stayed there with the Prince of lust just to party with him all day."

I felt like I was stabbed in the neck with my own spear. What is he saying?

"The Dawn is back? But how did this happen? She died in flames!"

Master Hage got even more irritated by my questions. "Did you forget about the prophecy? The Dawn has born again after a thousand years. Till now, she was hiding out in the mortal world. Now she is back in the Highlands."

This is unbelievable! Has it been a thousand years since her death? It feels like she had just died yesterday. Time flies! 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"King Oberon is now going to crown her as the Princess of the Celestial Realm," Hage said and shook me even more than before.

"That weakling is going to become a princess?" I gasped.

Hage gave me a moment to reel out from the shock. After a while, he gave me a nasty smirk and said, "So are you saying that the entire Ashland is not aware that the Dawn is back? What are those lusty Incubuses doing there? Are they just drinking and getting laid every day without knowing the happenings of the outer realm?"

His allegations were not wrong! That is what everyone in Ashland does every day. They don’t worry about the outside world. All they need is wine and sex. Because of them, I wasn’t even aware that my worst enemy is back.

"I am sorry, Master! From now on, I’ll try to be more cautious."

"Lilin! I will be able to forgive you. But the Queen won’t. She is so furious at your ignorance," he paused and scanned me from top to bottom. "And what the hell are you wearing? Why is there so much mud on your clothes?"

I looked down at my robes and realized that I was still in the same black gown that I was wearing while rolling on the ground with Aaron. I was scared that he would find out the actual reason for the dust in my dress.

"It looks like you had a very good time with the Prince of lust! I would advise you to at least change your clothes before you meet the Queen."

I wanted to bury my face down in the dewy shrubs as I was embarrassed to my core. What was I thinking before arriving here?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn’t teleport directly to my room as my mother would sense my presence immediately. She is powerful enough to feel all the forces that teleport in and out of the Shadow Castle.
I ran through the dimly lit hallway that led to my room. Even though the sun was up outside, no light got reflected inside the castle. My mother has made it this way for the sake of the Vampire servants who live here.
As I got closer to my room, the first torches were completely unlit in my pathway. What are the maids doing here? How dare they forget to lighten up the torches outside of my room?
Once I change my clothes, I am going to reprimand the maids who were in charge of organizing my room.
Just while I was about to get inside my room, I stumbled upon someone and fell on the floor.
