Chapter 142: Blood Red Sand...

Celestia’s POV:

I was on the edge of the forest of light. If I take a few more steps and walk out the woods, I will be in the Highland region. I shouldn’t be here! My father forbade me from entering the lands again.

Still, I wasn’t able to restrain myself from stepping into my birth land. I thought I couldn’t be any more heartbroken than I already was, but I was wrong.

Till now, I assumed that only the forest regions were on fire. From a distance, I was able to see that even the Highland castle was burning down in the bright yellow flames.

"No...." I cried out in anguish. Not the place where I grew up!

This is not a good sign! The battle must be still getting on. My people are in danger! I should save them. But Father Oberon banished me from this land.

If I step in there again, he won’t be taking it well. It doesn’t matter! Lilin is attacking the Faes. I can’t just stand here and watch it. I have to do whatever it takes to save my people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They say that when horrifying things happen around you continually, you stop feeling the grief as your mind gets mystified. I was precisely in that phase.
I was wandering on the barren land that was a mile away from the Highland castle. From the sight of the land, it was evident that a vicious battle had taken place here between the Faes and the Shadow creatures.
On the land, there were countless numbers of corpses of the Shadow creatures. The sand on the ground was deep red in color, just like the gown I was wearing right now. Is the sand mixed with blood?! It must be the blood of the Shadow creatures.
Around me, there were a lot of fallen Manticores, Ogres, and even Bat Griffins. Were Vampires here too?! But I wasn’t able to spot any dead Vampire around me.
This battle must have taken place in the night. And the Vampires must have left the lands before the sunrise. So the battle is over now! The Fathomless warriors have defeated Lilin’s troops.
The side of light won?! But I don’t understand how Lilin attacked these lands in the first place. Theo told me that he would take care of her. He has got the power of Nephilim now. He should have stopped Lilin from sending her troops here! Where is Theo now?
As I got closer to the castle region, the real horror was waiting for me there. So far, I assumed that no Fae was harmed in the battle. But I was entirely wrong!
A shrill cry got out of my throat when I saw the bodies of Fae guards on the ground. Those vicious Ogres must have killed them! Their wounds seemed like they were attacked by the mace.
NO! This can’t be happening! I knelt on the bloody sand and held the hand of a fallen Fae guard. I recognized him! He is the same guard who bravely stood in front of me even after he saw my Angelic form.
Now his hazel eyes were dazedly looking up at the bluish sky. He is lifeless! A tear got down from my eye and landed on his armor. May his soul rest in peace in heaven!
I got up from the ground and strode to the castle entrance. There were more than fifty Faes dead in the pathway of the entrance. And some of them were Fathomless Fae warriors!
No! No! Noooooo! Not my friends! My eyes were glistening with tears, and they dripped down from my cheeks like a stream.
"I hope you are happy now," I heard a voice say to me. It was Darius! I immediately turned to his side and wept out more than ever I did in my whole life.
"Only four Fathomless warriors survived the battle. The rest of them died an honorable death," Darius announced.
I wondered who the four survivors were. I scanned down at the faces of the perished warriors. Ember, Edwin, Vivian, and Laris were not there. So they must be the survivors!
"You could have sent me a message," I said to Darius while I was still sobbing. "I have Angelic powers now! I would have stood in the front lines and saved all of you. No one would have lost their lives."
I frowned at Darius furiously. He looked like he had been crying too! But now, he was just gloomy. There was blood all over his armor.
He was hurt too in the battle, but he had healed himself. Darius always had greater healing powers than the rest of the Fae.
"Why did you not call me?" I shouted out hysterically. "I know that my father banished me, but this is life or death!"
He didn’t respond at all. He kept on staring at me vaguely. I wasn’t able to comprehend what was going on in his mind. Is he angry with me? Or is he sad? Why is he not saying anything?
"Give me an answer now, Darius. I want to know why vengeance is more important for you and your father than saving people’s lives."
"Do you really want to know why we didn’t call you?" Darius finally spoke out. " Trust me, Celestia! You don’t want to know about this. If you know the truth, then it is just going to rip your heart into shreds. Even though I am mad at you now, I still care about you! I don’t want you to experience that kind of pain!"
I clasped my hands together and screamed out, "What can rip my heart more than this? My heart is already dead now! Just tell me the reason!"
Darius sighed out and said, " We didn’t call you to the battle because we knew that you wouldn’t battle along with us. Instead, you would have definitely joined the side of the opponent and attacked us all.
"No," I shook my head and wiped my tear-stained cheeks. " Why would I side with Lilin and attack you?"
"Well, if Silver Shadow is on the side of the opponent, then you will join him, won’t you?"
