Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself-Chapter 932 - 942: Going Up the Mountain
"Overestimating one’s capabilities isn’t that bad, at least you know what you’re doing," An Ran stood up to organize her luggage and took some medicines, "Teacher Wang, I might stay at that village tonight. I’ll come back to join the volunteer clinic tomorrow once Grandma’s condition stabilizes."
"An Ran, I’ll go with you," Lu Yi said as he picked up his luggage and then slung An Ran’s bag over his shoulder.
An Ran’s shoulder hadn’t healed yet, and throughout the journey, he helped her carry the luggage.
"We’ll go too," Shen Qi and Zhu Pengfei also stood up.
"Are so many of you planning a revolt? What about the volunteer clinic tomorrow?" Letting Lu Yi and An Ran go was one thing; they were tough to manage. But Shen Qi and Zhu Pengfei had increasingly disregarded her.
"Don’t worry, we’ll make it back before the volunteer clinic starts tomorrow. We won’t delay it." Lu Yi said and took the lead, heading toward the door.
An Ran followed him, and just as Changsheng was about to catch up, Hu Dajun grabbed him, "Changsheng, do you have a flashlight? Wait a bit; I’ll fetch one for you."
Though this Changsheng was a child from the neighboring village, everyone in these villages knew that this child was once abandoned in a mountain ditch. Grandma Li went around asking various villages for adoption but ended up raising him herself.
Changsheng thanked Hu Dajun gratefully, took the flashlight, and ran ahead of the four, leading the way.
The mountain path was hard to walk; the night road in the mountains was even more difficult.
Shen Qi walked beside An Ran, supporting each other as they moved one step shallow, one step deep ahead.
Lu Yi and Zhu Pengfei carried the luggage of two people. Although they were males, it was their first time walking the mountain night road and weren’t much better off than the two girls.
However, Lu Yi didn’t regret his decision. His phone lost signal the moment they entered the mountains. In such a place, how could he let An Ran, a young girl, enter the mountains late at night alone? He just didn’t expect Zhu Pengfei and Shen Qi to be so resolute as well.
By the time they reached the small mountain village halfway up the mountain, it was nearly dawn.
There weren’t many households in the village, only about a dozen, spread across the hillside.
Changsheng led the four into a small courtyard built of stones. A medium-sized yellow dog in the yard barked upon hearing the noise.
"Da Huang, stop barking," Changsheng admonished, and indeed, the yellow dog stopped barking and instead followed behind Changsheng with a wagging tail.
"Brother and sisters, Grandma is in this room." Changsheng said as he pushed open the door of a room, then called inside, "Grandma, I’m back."
With a painful groan, An Ran clearly saw the elderly woman on the bed.
Though she claimed to be seventy, she looked older. Her graying hair fell across her forehead, and she had beads of sweat from enduring pain. With tears in her eyes, she sighed upon seeing Changsheng, "Grandma... just a good sleep... and I’m fine, no need to... spend money on... doctors."
Although a simple sentence, it took the old woman four or five gasps to finish saying it.
Changsheng went forward to support the old woman, "Grandma, these are doctors from the city, here to provide free medical services for us. There’s no charge. Please let them take a look at you."
An Ran noticed the old woman’s heavy breathing, took the emergency medicine from Lu Yi’s backpack, and approached, "Grandma, please take this pill. It will make you feel a bit better."
