Fleeing from Konoha-Chapter 560 - 77: Direction (Part 2)
Words of lies just flowed out effortlessly, as if unstoppable, continuing on with an exaggerated monologue of self-praise.
He completely immersed himself in the genius template of Kakashi.
"Now I have awakened the supreme eye of the Uchiha Race—the Mangekyo Sharingan. Compared to me, Kakashi is like heaven and earth. Moreover, unlike the arrogant Kakashi, I am compassionate. During my time at Ninja School, I made it a point to help at least a dozen grandmothers every day. A ninja with extraordinary talent and excellent morals, that’s me."
After saying this, he nodded proudly, as if he were applauding himself.
"So, you’re that amazing, Obito."
Lin smiled gently, with an inexplicable hint of amusement in her eyes.
Obito blushed, coughed, and said, "Hehe, it’s really nothing, I just can’t hide my dazzling brilliance, but I’m still far behind."
Experiencing Lin’s admiration for the first time, Obito couldn’t help but feel a bit elated, his vanity greatly satisfied.
Kakashi, sorry, but your life story is now mine. After all, you’re not here now? Obito accepted it all with peace of mind and carefully recalled if there was anything else extraordinary about Kakashi.
Then, those honors would belong to Uchiha Obito.
"Just in time, both of you are here."
A sudden voice from the side, and Hakushi appeared there.
"Ah!" Seeing Hakushi appear, Obito was startled, his face changed several times, and he stammered out, "W-when did you get here?"
"When did I get here? Ha, that’s an interesting question." Hakushi replied with a bizarre smile, "I actually just got here not long ago, I didn’t hear your conversation just now."
Lies! Absolute lies!
When Obito saw the strange smile on Hakushi’s face, he knew that everything he had bragged about to Lin earlier was heard by Hakushi, word for word.
If exposed, Lin might consider him a shameful liar and never speak to him again.
This bastard, since he was here, should have just come out sooner. Listening in on people like a villain. Obito’s heart was full of resentment.
"Speaking of which, I’m feeling a bit hungry too, what should I do about it?"
Hakushi patted his empty stomach and looked at Obito.
Obito’s mouth twitched.
"Alright, I’ll get you some tableware then."
Obito went inside and brought out a new set of dishes and chopsticks, respectfully placed them on the dining table, and even moved a chair for Hakushi.
"Unexpectedly, Obito, you’re so diligent."
"I’ve always been diligent."
"Could you serve me some rice too, if it’s not too much trouble?"
"I—" Just as he was about to swear, Obito forced a stiff smile onto his face and said through gritted teeth, "Alright."
He then served Hakushi some rice.
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome. I’m full, please enjoy your meal."
Obito took a deep breath, quickly left there, fearing he might not be able to resist punching the annoying smile.
Seeing Obito leave, Lin sighed over there: "Hakushi-sensei, your personality is too nasty."
"Aren’t you the same? You realized I was here long ago."
Lin had already started learning the application of Sage Art Chakra, and he himself had taught her Perception Ninjutsu, so only the half-skilled Obito, who lacked perception abilities, hadn’t noticed his presence.
Lin’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she turned away.
"I actually didn’t think that far, Senior Hakushi."
To address him as senior, instead of teacher, implied something that Hakushi naturally understood.
Amnesia, such an excuse, could only deceive someone as pure and naive as Obito.
"I’ve already brought your parents out from Konoha. You can meet them anytime."
Hakushi conveyed this news to Lin while eating.
Lin’s cooking was indeed wonderful. Frankly, a girl who’s beautiful, kind, gentle, and good at cooking—no wonder Obito was so utterly charmed.
"Should I be saying thank you?"
Lin laughed bitterly.
"That’s not necessary. However, since your body seals a Tailed Beast, you truly can’t return to Konoha."
"I understand that. I feel like I’m so selfish. If I had thought it over more thoroughly then, Obito wouldn’t have been taken advantage of because of me."
"..."
Hearing Lin’s murmurs, Hakushi was momentarily speechless.
Obito said it was because of him that Lin was targeted.
Lin now said it was because of herself that Obito got schemed against.
"In your view, Senior Hakushi, do you think I’m foolish?"
Lin raised her head and asked.
"Being human means doing foolish things."
Hakushi answered earnestly.
Lin didn’t respond, but she agreed with Hakushi’s statement.
Humans are creatures that do many foolish things, always.
In this Ninja Realm, and as a part of it as a ninja.
"For Obito, your existence is special. Both of you have your talents; there is no need for self-depreciation. But there is one thing to remind you of."
Hakushi put down his bowl and chopsticks, ceasing his eating.
"What is it?"
"Don’t die. Otherwise, at that time, I might have to kill Obito with my own hands."
Hakushi looked directly at Lin, speaking to her with unprecedented seriousness:
"Without the restraint of your presence, Obito is too dangerous for me, I cannot control him. Awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan at twelve indeed demonstrates his talent, but it also proves that his emotions are too rich, yet extremely fragile. So should you die, his existence would become extremely dangerous. You should be more aware of this than I am."
