Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 180: The Competitive Drive of a Successful Man
"..." Clara Sterling paused, surprised by Lynch Lynch’s sudden question.
She looked up at Lynch Lynch, "Don’t you have a boyfriend?"
"We broke up." The smile vanished from Lynch Lynch’s face, "He cheated on me, a total jerk."
"When did this happen?" Clara was somewhat surprised; Lynch Lynch had never mentioned it.
Talking about her scumbag ex-boyfriend, Lynch Lynch opened up the floodgates, starting to speak endlessly about how he cheated on her and how she discovered it.
As she talked, she got distracted and forgot about asking about Julian Hawthorne.
Clara felt relieved.
Luckily, Lynch Lynch was just temporarily curious. If she were serious about asking for Julian Hawthorne’s contact info, Clara wouldn’t know how to refuse.
If she refused, she feared it would upset Lynch Lynch and harm their friendship.
If she gave it, it would be impolite to Julian Hawthorne to disclose his contact details without his consent.
...
The Sutton Family of Veridian.
Isaac Sutton went to Crestwood, and Graham Sutton hadn’t returned home for a week.
In the vast Sutton family villa, only Judy Bishop was at home, making the place appear cold and deserted.
During this period, Judy Bishop had been calling Graham Sutton but couldn’t reach him.
That day, unable to bear it any longer, Judy Bishop changed her clothes, grabbed her bag, and headed to the company.
When Judy Bishop arrived at the Sutton Group downstairs, the receptionist greeted her, "Good day, madam."
Judy Bishop ignored her and headed straight to the elevator.
The receptionist immediately dialed the internal line to the chairman’s office.
"Assistant Shaw, the chairman’s wife is here."
"Okay."
Receiving the call, Graham Sutton’s assistant quickly went to the chairman’s office door to report the news.
Previously, when Graham Sutton and Quinn Hughes’s scandal broke out.
The board tried to take the opportunity to remove Graham Sutton from the chairman’s position.
They gathered to hold a shareholders’ meeting intending to dismiss Graham Sutton from the chairman’s role.
At the time, to attract investment and expand the company, Graham Sutton had retained few shares.
Together, Graham Sutton and Isaac Sutton held one-third of the company’s total shares.
If they truly convened a shareholders’ meeting, the remaining shareholders’ combined shareholding ratio reached two-thirds, allowing them to dismiss Graham Sutton from the chairman’s post.
To keep the chairman’s position and hold the company in his hands, Graham Sutton and Isaac Sutton were actively negotiating with a few major shareholders, repeatedly assuring and signing conditional stock transfer agreements.
They promised if the Sutton father and son could not recover the company’s losses within three months, Graham Sutton would voluntarily step down as chairman, and Isaac Sutton’s general manager position would also be abolished.
Thus, the Sutton father and son managed to temporarily keep control of the company.
If three months later, they couldn’t recover the losses, their positions would be dismissed, and they would no longer hold actual power, only retaining the right to shareholder dividends.
Isaac Sutton’s trip to Crestwood resulted in collaborations with the Tate Family, with several major project contracts signed between the Sutton and Tate families, slightly turning the situation around.
In Graham Sutton’s office.
Quinn Hughes was sitting on Graham Sutton’s lap, feeding him grapes.
Since their identities were already exposed, Graham Sutton needn’t worry about being discovered, and openly transferred Quinn Hughes to his side as a secretary.
After all, the situation had already unfolded, and as long as he remained chairman, he needn’t fear idle gossip.
"Knock, knock, knock—" Assistant Shaw knocked at the door from outside, "Chairman."
"Come in."
Assistant Shaw entered to report, "Chairman, your wife is here."
Graham Sutton frowned, his expression darkening, "Why didn’t you stop her?"
Assistant Shaw was somewhat troubled, "You didn’t instruct ahead to prevent the madam from coming to the company."
Quinn Hughes continued sitting on Graham Sutton’s lap, showing no intention of getting off, "Honey, let her come; what’s the harm?"
Graham Sutton: "I fear she’ll cause a scene and make it too ugly; this is, after all, the company."
Quinn Hughes chuckled, "It’s fine, if she dares to make a fuss, you can propose a divorce."
Graham Sutton hesitated.
He hadn’t actually thought about divorce.
"It’s fine; after all, she won’t agree. If divorced, she’d have nothing." Quinn Hughes smiled enchantingly.
"Hmm."
Assistant Shaw sensibly withdrew.
When Judy Bishop entered, she saw Quinn Hughes sitting on Graham Sutton’s lap, with her arms around his neck.
"Auntie Bishop is here." Quinn Hughes gave Judy Bishop a provocative smile, "Is there anything you want?"
"Get out! What kind of thing are you, to talk to me?" Judy Bishop stepped forward to pull Quinn Hughes away.
Quinn Hughes stood up, hooked her lips, "Smack—" She slapped Judy Bishop across the face.
"You dare hit me?" Judy Bishop stood stunned for a moment; once recovered, she raised her hand intending to slap back.
But Graham Sutton grasped her wrist, "This is the company, what’s the point of quarrelling!"
Graham Sutton held Judy Bishop’s hand firmly, preventing her from hitting Quinn Hughes.
"You’re protecting her?" Judy Bishop’s eyes reddened instantly, "Graham Sutton, are you even human? We’ve been husband and wife for over twenty years, I bore you a son and managed the household, and this is how you treat me? Do you have a heart?"
"Enough!" Graham Sutton reprimanded harshly, "This is the company; I won’t tolerate your nonsense!"
"Nonsense?" Judy Bishop scoffed in anger, "Who’s really being nonsensical? You’re involved with your son’s woman; even if you aren’t ashamed, I am! Let go!"
Graham Sutton wouldn’t relent, his gaze cold and laced with disdain, "Look at yourself now, how you’ve become, a shrew!"
"Graham Sutton, you bastard!" Judy Bishop was so furious she could burst; she lifted a foot and kicked Graham Sutton’s leg.
She used full force with that kick; Graham Sutton grunted in pain, releasing her hand, shouting in anger, "If you keep this up, we’ll get divorced!"
Judy Bishop was dumbstruck, "What did you say?"
Quinn Hughes hid behind Graham Sutton, a smile playing on her lips as she looked provocatively at Judy Bishop.
Emotions overwhelming, Judy Bishop almost uttered, "Fine, let’s divorce!" However, seeing Quinn Hughes smirking in satisfaction, Judy Bishop regained her calm.
She had signed a prenuptial agreement with Graham Sutton.
Over the years, she had been a full-time housewife, and if they truly divorced, she wouldn’t get a penny from the Sutton family.
Judy Bishop was so enraged she was grinding her teeth, suppressing her fury, ultimately not daring to bring up divorce.
Watching Quinn Hughes flaunt her dominance.
Judy Bishop clenched her fists tightly.
Homewrecker, trying to use reverse psychology to force a divorce? No way!
...
"President Sheffield, just received news that Julian Hawthorne donated ten million to Crestwood U." Zachary Lynch paused for a moment, "A reporter asked him why he donated to Crestwood U, and he answered saying he has friends studying there."
Silas Sheffield slowly furrowed his brow, his eyes showing a dangerous, cold glint, "Make sure the media handles this well, don’t let them turn it into a story."
Clara is from Crestwood U; it’s easily verifiable.
Prior to this, Silas Sheffield accompanied Clara to a classmate gathering.
There’s also been gossip linking Clara with Julian Hawthorne.
Silas Sheffield’s slender fingers tapped intermittently on the table, creating a faint sound.
"Contact the leadership of Crestwood U, inform them I want to donate a teaching building, and choose the groundbreaking ceremony to coincide with the graduation ceremony day. I want my wife and I cutting the ribbon together."
"Yes, President Sheffield."
Zachary Lynch left the president’s office, promptly called the principal of Crestwood U, conveying Silas Sheffield’s intent.
After hanging up, Zachary Lynch couldn’t resist muttering in awe, "President Sheffield really doesn’t like to lose; Julian Hawthorne donates ten million, he directly donates an entire building, spending billions without batting an eye just to surpass a love rival, and also would have his wife join him to cut the ribbon. Tsk tsk tsk, is this the competitive spirit of a successful man?"
