Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 179: Long Time No See
Clara Sterling chatted on the phone with her teacher for a long time about her dissertation, and Warren Cheney was quite satisfied with her feedback.
In the end, Warren Cheney said, "I’ve sent you some materials, try to take some time to look them over, and when you come back to Veridian, join me in the lab to learn to do experiments."
"Okay, professor."
Clara Sterling’s graduation dissertation defense was scheduled for the 25th, a few days before the graduation ceremony.
That morning, Clara Sterling got up early, got ready, had breakfast, and was sent to the school by the driver.
She had prepared very thoroughly for the dissertation defense, and it passed smoothly.
After the defense, Clara Sterling walked down the road with several of her roommates.
"Clara, let’s have lunch together," Lynch Lynch suggested, "You haven’t eaten in the cafeteria for ages, and after graduation, there won’t be much time to come back to Crestwood U."
Alice Woods chimed in, "Yeah, Clara, let’s eat in the cafeteria today."
Clara Sterling had been in Veridian almost the entire semester, and she hadn’t eaten in the school cafeteria for five months; she missed the cafeteria food quite a bit.
Clara Sterling nodded with a smile, "Sure, I feel like having the barbecue rice bowl from the third cafeteria."
Lynch Lynch laughed, "Then let’s go to the third cafeteria; I also want to have the river snail rice noodle there."
The group headed to the cafeteria together.
The teaching building was a bit far from the cafeteria; it took about twenty minutes to walk, passing an artificial lake and a small grove of greenery on the way.
As Clara Sterling and her roommates reached the lakeside, someone suddenly called out to her.
"Clara."
Clara turned her head towards the voice.
Julian Hawthorne was standing under a plane tree by the lake, smiling at her.
A gust of wind blew, lifting the hem of his white shirt.
The lotus flowers in the lake were in full bloom, the emerald green lotus leaves swaying gently in the breeze, with a few dragonflies hovering up and down.
Julian Hawthorne didn’t approach; he just stood there quietly, not far off, watching Clara Sterling.
It had been a while since they had seen each other.
Julian Hawthorne’s features were as gentle and composed as ever, with a warm, faint smile at the corners of his lips, exuding an elegant and noble aura of a wealthy gentleman.
Such a man, with an appearance too striking, instantly attracts the attention of passersby on the university campus.
"Wow, this guy is so handsome; he’s probably not from our school, right?"
"Oh my, how can someone be this handsome! I want to go ask for his contact information."
"I wonder if he’s single."
"Could he be some upperclassman returning to his alma mater for a nostalgic visit? He doesn’t look like a student."
Some passersby’s whispers drifted into Clara Sterling’s ears with the wind.
Lynch Lynch gently nudged Clara Sterling with her elbow, "Clara, do you know this handsome guy? I think I just heard him call you."
Clara gave a slight "Mm" sound.
The place where Julian Hawthorne stood was on their way to the cafeteria.
Clara Sterling thought for a moment and decided to go over and say hello.
She said to her roommates, "You guys go ahead, I’ll just say a quick hello to him."
"Okay."
As Lynch Lynch and Alice Woods passed by Julian Hawthorne, they stealthily glanced up at him.
Clara Sterling walked over and said with a smile, "President Hawthorne."
Julian Hawthorne smiled, "Long time no see. I’m not your boss anymore, you can change how you address me."
Clara Sterling replied politely and distantly, "Mr. Hawthorne."
She didn’t ask Julian Hawthorne why he was here.
It had nothing to do with her, and she wasn’t interested.
Julian Hawthorne didn’t explain either; he just gently said, "It’s my first time at Crestwood U, would you show me around?"
Recalling the last incident, Clara Sterling instinctively kept her distance from him, "Sorry, I have something to do later, I can’t accompany you."
Julian Hawthorne was quite the gentleman and didn’t make things difficult for her, just nodded slightly, "Alright, you go ahead. I’ll stroll around by myself."
"Mm." Clara Sterling felt a bit sorry, "I apologize, I’ll leave first, I have a lunch date with my roommates."
"Alright." Julian Hawthorne replied gently, still with a light smile at the corners of his lips, "Goodbye."
"Goodbye." Clara Sterling didn’t linger, she left straight away.
Julian Hawthorne watched the girl’s figure gradually recede, the smile vanished from his lips, and the light in his eyes dimmed.
Cafeteria.
"Did you hear? A wealthy guy from Ardendale donated ten million to our school."
"I heard, it’s said that this wealthy guy donated because he has a friend studying at our school."
"I just got back from the library, and let me tell you, I saw the school leaders with a young handsome man in a white shirt and black trousers inspecting the library. That must be the wealthy guy who donated to our school. He’s so young and handsome, he looks like a movie star."
"I saw him too; that guy is really handsome; anyone would think he’s a male star here for a shoot."
"Donating ten million just because a friend is studying at Crestwood U? How capricious can the rich be?"
"They say it’s a friend, but maybe it’s someone they like."
"I heard this handsome wealthy guy is from Ardendale..."
Clara Sterling heard the students’ discussions and slowed her pace.
From Ardendale.
Very handsome, in a white shirt and black trousers.
Wasn’t that Julian Hawthorne?
He donated ten million to Crestwood U?
Clara Sterling got her food and found a seat at Lynch Lynch’s table.
"Clara, I just heard that a wealthy heir donated ten million to our school. From the description, it sounds like the guy who called you, and it’s said he’s from Ardendale. Is your friend from Ardendale?"
"Mm." Clara’s expression was cold as she nodded lightly.
Her roommate loved gossip, but she wasn’t interested in this matter.
Whether it was Julian Hawthorne who donated or not, it had nothing to do with her.
Lynch Lynch exclaimed, "Wow, what kind of background does your friend have, donating ten million just like that?"
"His family background is very good, and he’s capable and outstanding himself." Clara answered tactfully without revealing much about Julian Hawthorne’s family.
Lynch Lynch: "Well, you’re the wife of the Sheffield CEO now, most of your friends must be rich like this."
Clara Sterling shook her head, "Not really, actually I’m not very familiar with him."
"I see." Lynch Lynch became interested, "He’s really handsome, it’s rare to see someone of his caliber in reality, and his demeanor is truly unparalleled; so gentle and urbane, I fell in love at first sight. Does he have a girlfriend? Could you introduce me to him?"
