Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 506 - 505: Persuading the CEO Again
That was right. Maxwell Peary was like a voice awakening the dreamer. If they came to such a high-end place for dinner today without booking the entire venue, acquaintances would inevitably see them. How would they explain themselves then?
Nia found herself increasingly impressed; Maxwell Peary had actually thought of that. As expected of a top CEO, he considered things so comprehensively.
While waiting for their meal, a smile adorned Nia’s face.
"Uncle, I forgot to tell you that this morning, Evelyn gave me a call."
Nia’s eyes suddenly sparkled. She was certain that telling Maxwell Peary this news would make him very, very happy.
"What about?"
Maxwell Peary sat there, intrigued, gazing at her. Seeing her in this state brought him a particular kind of joy. Just seeing her bright, gleaming eyes seemed to allow him to instantly forget anything troubling.
"About Evelyn’s marriage—remember Yancy Hastings insisted on marrying her a couple of days ago? It made Evelyn so angry and helpless."
Speaking of Yancy Hastings, Nia pouted her lips. She didn’t like Yancy Hastings. He was far too self-important. It was as if Yancy Hastings didn’t like her at all, either. Neither of them had any good feelings for the other, which was actually quite good. If only one felt that way, how distressing it would be for the other.
"Hmm, go on."
Seeing she was preoccupied with her anger and had fallen silent, Maxwell Peary prompted her.
"Then this morning, Evelyn called. It turns out Yancy Hastings specifically telephoned her today to say he wouldn’t pressure her into the marriage anymore; he called off the engagement."
This was the kind of news that truly called for setting off firecrackers!
"That’s indeed something to celebrate."
Maxwell Peary picked up the water glass before him and took a sip, his eyes crinkling with a smile. He had actually known about this since early morning. He hadn’t interrupted her because he wanted to watch her speak so effusively.
"You’re also happy?"
Evelyn should be the happiest person about this. Why did it seem like the little Rabina Mitchell before him was even happier than Evelyn?
"Yes, of course, I’m happy."
Nia’s face was wreathed in smiles; this matter truly made her happier than anyone.
"Evelyn is treating us to dinner at Madgar Pavilion tonight."
Remembering Evelyn’s invitation, Nia seized the chance, seeing the CEO was in a good mood, and immediately brought it up.
"Can’t we eat anywhere else? What’s so great about Madgar Pavilion?"
Maxwell Peary rarely frequented Madgar Pavilion. To him, it was all the same no matter where he ate.
Upon hearing his words, Nia’s face fell immediately.
"Oh come on, please! I’ve already agreed with Evelyn, and she said she’ll have a surprise for us."
The mention of a surprise had Nia’s eyes shining with anticipation.
Seeing her like this, Maxwell Peary rubbed his forehead, a reluctant look on his face.
"Alright then. We’ll go early and come back early."
Just as he finished speaking, the dishes began to arrive one after another, and Nia’s attention was instantly diverted. She paid little heed to whatever Maxwell Peary said next, responding perfunctorily.
Seeing her like this, Maxwell Peary’s expression darkened further.
"Nia."
Maxwell Peary’s brow furrowed slightly. He put down his knife and fork and stared at Nia, who was eating with great delight.
"MM-HMM."
Nia nodded, humming in agreement, then picked up her spoon and scooped up some of the sweet soup.
"Uncle, this is delicious! You should try some too."
Her eyes crinkled with a smile as Nia looked up at Maxwell Peary.
