Chapter 496: Chapter 495: She is Serious

After ending the call, Maxwell Peary’s complexion didn’t look much better, and it took him a while to notice Nia Mitchell standing there.

"Uh..."

Maxwell Peary instantly tried to conceal the chill in his aura. Noticing Nia Mitchell’s somewhat pale face, a flicker of panic went through him.

"Who were you on the phone with?" Nia Mitchell asked blankly. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Ah, I was discussing a business deal. Did it scare you?" His voice dropped, and his tone relaxed considerably.

However, perhaps because he had been too harsh earlier, even this softer approach didn’t lessen the pressure he exuded.

"No." Nia Mitchell shook her head and forced a smile.

"I don’t have anything else to do. If you have something else to take care of, you can go."

Maxwell Peary didn’t want Nia Mitchell to see him in this state and gave a faint sigh.

"Okay, I should get back to work then." Nia Mitchell smiled as she left, but as soon as she stepped out of the office, she let out a sigh of relief.

After Sophia Moore departed, everyone was closely watching the CEO Office. When they saw Nia Mitchell exit, they all stared at her with wide eyes.

Nia Mitchell felt their stares, gave an embarrassed grin, and went her way.

Unfortunately, to get to the CEO Office, she had to pass through the Secretary Department.

"Nia Mitchell!" someone suddenly shouted after her from the Secretary Department.

Nia Mitchell looked at their gossip-mongering faces and felt a bit reluctant to engage with them. Consequently, she decided to ignore them outright.

But those people weren’t ready to let her go that easily.

"Ms. Mitchell!" Suddenly, someone’s voice rose, ringing throughout the entire Secretary Department.

Caught off guard, Nia Mitchell found it difficult to pretend she hadn’t heard. She reluctantly looked at the crowd of secretaries, then pushed open the door and entered.

"What is it?" Nia Mitchell asked the group.

"Ms. Mitchell, what happened in the office? Do you know? Sophia Moore was outrageously disrespectful earlier; she was even badmouthing the CEO!" a junior secretary spoke up. When Sophia Moore was the Head Secretary here, these same people had been the ones flattering her and singing her praises.

"Really?" Nia Mitchell responded vaguely, then prepared to leave.

"Ms. Mitchell, please don’t go. You haven’t answered our questions."

Everyone was extremely curious about what had happened in the CEO’s office.

"I am not entirely clear about what happened in the office either."

Dropping this remark, Nia Mitchell turned around and left. The smile on her face vanished instantly.

Perhaps everyone reaches a point of fatigue.

She suddenly became fed up with the insincere pleasantries, the fake smiles, the sham relationships.

When she returned to her office, Hendrik Lewis was at his desk, on the phone.

"So, she still hasn’t been found?" He massaged his temples and let out a deep sigh. "Everywhere has been searched?"

Owen Lewis had a splitting headache, a look of agony on his face.

"What about Davidson’s Martial Arts Academy?"

Suddenly, he thought of a possibility.

If Annie Davidson was truly hiding from him, she would likely pick somewhere he would never think to look, or a place he would never search.

The only place that met this criterion was Davidson’s Martial Arts Academy.

"Davidson’s Martial Arts Academy?" The person on the other end of the call sounded surprised. "No."

"Alright, I’ll go to Davidson’s Martial Arts Academy myself now. You all keep searching."

After ending the call, a glimmer of hope flashed across the haggard-looking Owen Lewis’s face.

She must be at Davidson’s Martial Arts Academy. Even though Annie Davidson swore she would never return there in her lifetime, and it was the place she hated and feared the most.

But she...

Then again, if she did return, wouldn’t that mean...

After all, she had escaped her wedding.
