Chapter 66: Bind a Fate

"He certainly has an eye for valuable commodities," Orion replied dryly, his voice tinged with a trace of bitterness.

As they walked further along, Orion’s gaze suddenly landed on a particular cage toward the corner, partially hidden in the shadows.

His curiosity piqued, he approached cautiously, noticing a slender figure inside.

A green-haired elf sat quietly in the cage, her head bowed slightly, her delicate features obscured by long strands of unkempt hair.

Her clothes were ragged and her body malnourished, clearly neglected compared to the others. Yet despite her pitiful state, Orion felt an inexplicable pull toward her, as if he wanted to see her, yet couldn’t.

He activated his Eye of Revelation instinctively, focusing intently on her. However, unlike other slaves, his skill gave little information this time.

[??? Elf – Unable to analyze clearly. Insufficient rank.]

Orion frowned, intrigued yet frustrated at the situation. "Something’s off about her," he muttered softly to Edgar.

Edgar raised an eyebrow, examining her closely. "She looks ordinary—more neglected than special. Yet, I sense something unusual as well."

Orion stepped closer, his eyes narrowing further. The closer he got, the more intense the feeling of mystery became. Just as he approached her cage, a sudden notification from the system flashed urgently in his mind:

[Ding!]

[Quest Triggered Again!]

[Quest: Fate Unravel I – Bind a Fate]

[Target Located: The elf before you is the one destined to aid you significantly in your future endeavors.]

[Time Limit: 24 hours, 47 minutes remaining.]

[Reward: +200 SP]

[Failure Consequence: The Elf will be sold to someone else.]

[Tadaaa~! (≧▽≦) Master, you’ve found her! Don’t let her slip away!]

Orion’s eyes widened in surprise. His heart raced slightly at the sudden revelation. ’So she really is the one,’ he thought silently, quickly determining to get her.

Edgar noticed the change in Orion’s demeanor and leaned closer, whispering, "Is she the one you’ve been seeking, Young Master?"

Orion nodded firmly. "Yes, she’s the one. We must secure her quickly."

A vendor standing nearby noticed Orion’s interest and approached with politeness. "Ah, esteemed guests, you’ve taken an interest in this elf? Though she appears frail, her lineage is quite remarkable, I assure you."

Orion carefully maintained his composure. "Tell me about her lineage."

The vendor cleared his throat, trying to act like a scholar. "She hails from a distant forest kingdom, known for its rare and unique elves. Unfortunately, she seems cursed or afflicted. None of our experts could identify her abilities. Thus, her price is significantly reduced compared to other elves of similar lineage."

Orion’s ears twitched. ’Cursed or afflicted? Is this guy just bullshitting or is there really some truth?’ "How much is she?" he asked directly.

"Given her unknown condition, the price is considerably low: merely a thousand High Grade Mana Crystals," the vendor stated smoothly.

Just as Orion was about to agree, a different voice echoed from their side. "Excuse me, how much is this dirty elf for? I need some beast food at home."

A young man with two other people stood there, looking at the elf curiously.

The vendor hesitated. "Uh, sir, this gentleman here was just about to purchase her as well. So, if you both want to purchase her, then there will be a mini auction held here right now."

Orion’s brow furrowed as he looked at the newcomer. Shaking his head, he turned to Edgar and softly whispered, "Uncle Edgar, how much is our budget?"

Edgar mysteriously smiled. "You can spend as much as you want, Young Master. Lady Selene gave me more than enough to buy as many slaves as you want here."

He softly smiled and nodded his head.

"Hah? I will need to compete as well?" The young man turned to look at Orion and Edgar, but he neither underestimated them nor overestimated them.

If someone had to come inside the slave market personally for slaves, then he couldn’t be a high-ranking noble. And he wasn’t one to get scared away by mere servants.

"Anyways, I will bid 5,000 High Grade Mana Crystals." He raised his hand and placed his first bid.

"10,000 High Grade Mana Crystals." Orion doubled the bid without hesitation.

"Oh? Let’s see how deep your pockets are. 20,000 High Grade Mana Crystals." The young man looked at Orion curiously and raised the bid.

Orion frowned his brows. "30,000 High Grade Mana Crystals." He wasn’t in the mood to shit-talk; otherwise, the young noble wouldn’t be able to remain so calm.

The green-haired elf looked at all of this with dead eyes, as if feeling nothing whatsoever.

"Oho, looks like you are reaching your limits. 50,000 High Grade Mana Crystals," the young man smugly said.

"Young Master," Edgar leaned down beside Orion and softly whispered, "Raise the bid to 10 Exalted Grade Mana Crystals."

Orion raised an eyebrow but didn’t think further. "10 Exalted Grade Mana Crystals."

"Holy shit." The young noble’s eyes widened in disbelief and shock. "Are you fucking serious?? 10 Exalted Grade Mana Crystals for this elf?? You can buy as many slaves as you want with that much money!"

"I want her," Orion simply said, and looked toward the vendor, who was looking at Orion with such blindingly shiny eyes as if he were looking at a money god.

"Yes, Young Master! I will ready her right away!" he quickly said, not even looking at the other young man to see if he would bid further. He knew the value of the elf very well, and from the reaction of the young man, he wouldn’t bid further anyway.

"Haha, this brother, looks like there was some misunderstanding between us. If I knew you wanted her so much, then I wouldn’t have bothered to bid." The young man flatteringly smiled from beneath his mask.

Orion nodded his head but didn’t comment, putting his entire focus on the vendor who was now opening the cage.

"Alright, come out. You got a master now." The vendor roughly said and dragged her out with her chains.

"Here, Young Master," he said with a smile, before taking out a runic inscription-filled page and a knife.

"You just need to put a drop of her blood first on this page before putting your own blood so we can seal the deal." He said and handed the page and knife to Orion.

Orion turned toward Edgar. "Is that correct?"

The young man turned around and left after seeing that the transaction was nearly complete, not wanting to embarrass himself further.

Edgar looked through the runic inscriptions briefly. "Yes, Young Master. It’s genuine."

Orion nodded his head and gently raised the elven girl’s hand. Her body slightly shook as Orion touched her, yet she didn’t react further.

Orion pitifully looked at her before making a small cut on her finger, letting a drop of blood drip down on the page Edgar held beneath her hand.

The runic patterns changed, and a clear area for him to drop his blood on the page appeared. He gently let her hand down and turned toward Edgar, raising his hand above the page and slicing his thumb softly with the knife.

A few drops of blood dripped down from his thumb onto the paper. Before he could even react, the paper burned to ashes, and a faint rune blossomed into existence, like a scarlet flower blooming and vanishing in the blink of an eye.

For a moment, the elf girl’s body trembled — the first true reaction she had shown since Orion saw her.

[Master... she’s yours now... she’s safe... (´。• ᵕ •。`)]
