First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1923 - This Crisis Happened Because of Me
Chapter 1923 - This Crisis Happened Because of Me
The smell of blood permeated heaven and earth. Terrified shouts still echoed throughout the sky.
All eyes were focused on just one person.
Outside the Seventh Gate of Heaven, a Demon Sovereign glowered, his face ashen. “Wang Ye! So it’s you, Tyrant!”
He looked middle-aged, and he was dressed in ink-black warrior’s robes. His hair was dark, and his eyes were an unearthly shade of gold. He had an imposing, unsettling air about him.
“It’s truly as the rumors say. The Tyrant’s already strong enough to threaten Profound Demon Sovereigns.” Another Demon Sovereign gnashed his teeth. He was tall and stalwart, bald and bearded, with blue-green eyes. He looked as fierce as a barbarian god.
“Wang Ye, you might well be able to defend the Seventh Gate of Heaven by yourself, but the other eight garrisons are under attack as well. How can you possibly fight us all?” said the third Demon Sovereign. She was an unearthly beauty with fiery red hair. Her coppery, powerful legs were visible beneath her gray beast-skin robes.
Su Yi turned around, and a single step carried him beyond the Seventh Gate of Heaven.
“Three little Sky Demon Sovereigns, that’s all, yet you dare act impudently in front of me. You truly don’t know the meaning of the word ‘death,’ do you?” Su Yi’s tone was casual, and his eyes were icy.
The Demon Sovereigns of the Beyond were comparable to the Great Realm Immortal Sovereigns of the Immortal Realm.
The Great Realm was divided into three stages: Great Martial, Great Unity, and Great Profound.
Similarly, Demon Sovereigns were divided into three levels: Earth, Sky, and Profound.
Sky Demon Sovereigns were roughly equivalent to Great Unity Stage experts.
The seven Demon Sovereigns who’d died earlier were just Earth Demon Sovereigns comparable to Great Martial Stage experts. To the current Su Yi, both Earth and Sky Demon Sovereigns were no more than clay chickens and porcelain dogs.
The middle-aged man in warrior’s robes bellowed. “Stop! Don’t you want to know why the Nine Races of the Spirit Domain have chosen to launch an all-out offensive now?”
As he spoke, he and the other two Demon Sovereigns went on high alert, readying themselves for battle.
“Oh?” Su Yi stopped. “Go ahead and tell me, then.”
The middle-aged man said with a cruel, hideous laugh, “It’s simple! We’ve launched this all-out war to target you, Tyrant!”
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. “If you’re targeting me, why drag the entire Immortal Realm into this?”
The middle-aged man’s eyes flashed. “Simple. This will make you the common enemy of the entire Immortal Realm! Everyone will point their fingers and spit upon your name. Your reputation will be completely ruined!”
Su Yi couldn’t help but be stunned. “That’s all?”
The middle-aged man said expressionlessly, “Our armies have announced that we’ve launched this attack because of you. When a storm of bloodshed sweeps through the Immortal Realm, countless people will lose their lives. The citizens of the Immortal Realm will hate us, of course, but don’t you think they’ll hate you too?”
“None of that will happen,” Su Yi said flatly.
“No, it’s already happening,” said the middle-aged man. “Last night, we split our forces into nine armies. Each army marched upon a different Gate of Heaven. As of this morning, the First, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Gates of Heaven have fallen! Our forces have already charged into the Immortal Realm and started attacking your territories!”
Four of the Nine Gates of Heaven had fallen!
Pei Hongjing, Xie Gu, and the other Immortal Kings’ hearts sank. They felt chills in their hands and feat.
It had been just one night, but the demons had broken four of the Nine Gates of Heaven with unstoppable momentum. Who’d dare to believe such a thing?
“We’ve already announced that you, the Tyrant, are the primary culprit behind this war. Don’t you think the masses will hate you now?" The middle-aged man’s gaze was playful. “Wang Ye, prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals, you fought for the Immortal Realm with all your might, pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into its defenses. You became its number-one expert, and the masses revered you.
“Now, our goal is to leave your reputation in shambles! Those who once supported and revered you will instead see you as the greatest sinner in history! Soon, you’ll see what it’s like to be betrayed by your allies and estranged from those closest to you!
“The people you worked so hard to protect will, in the end, revile you as a sinner. Will you still fight for the Immortal Realm then? Will you still risk your life to save them?”
The middle-aged man broke into a grin. “We’re all looking forward to that day!”
The other two Demon Sovereigns burst into cold laughter.
When you killed a man, you had to kill his heart first.
They’d declared an all-out war on the Immortal Realm for the express purpose of defeating Su Yi! Naturally, they’d do everything they could toward that end!
“Despicable!” Pei Hongjing and the other Immortal Kings were furious.
But Su Yi just laughed. “I’m afraid that isn’t your ultimate goal.”
“It isn’t,” said the middle-aged man. “What we really want is to see you dead, Tyrant!”
“With just you?” Su Yi sneered.
“Of course not,” said the middle-aged Demon Sovereign, a strange light in his eyes. “You’re the Heretic Reincarnator, the ones the gods do not tolerate. Numerous divine emissaries are lending the Nine Races of the Spirit Domain their support in this campaign. That aside...”
He suddenly burst into laughter and said no more on the matter. “In any event, no matter how heaven-defying you are, you’re ultimately just one person. You’re doomed!”
Su Yi said thoughtfully, “Ah, no wonder you’re so fearless. You’ve become the minions of the gods.”
He understood. The demons of the Beyond had launched an all-out attack on the Immortal Realm at the gods’ behest!

It was also entirely possible that some of the divine children were working with the Beyond to borrow the demons’ power to destroy him!
When Su Yi realized this, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Why are you laughing?” The middle-aged man in warrior’s robes furrowed his brow.
“I’m laughing because the gods are using you as cannon fodder, and you have no idea,” said Su Yi. “You’re foolish to the extreme.”
The middle-aged man couldn’t help but laugh too. “Wang Ye, you’re far too arrogant. Who are you to slander and blaspheme against the gods? They’ve been targeting you since the battle of the Immortal Peach Assembly! Just you wait. You won’t be able to jump around much longer!”
Then, before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he and the other two Demon Sovereigns turned to leave.
Moreover, they crushed secret talismans and unleashed a forbidden escape art. In the blink of an eye, they’d vanished into thin air.
“Do you really think I didn’t realize that you were deliberately stalling for time earlier?” murmured Su Yi.
His sleeves billowed around him as he stretched out his hand and pressed down on the air.
Boom!
The surrounding thirty thousand feet of sky was completely locked down.
The three Demon Sovereigns reappeared in the distance, sealed in place, unable to move a muscle.
Their expressions filled with horror and disbelief. The talismans and evasion techniques they’d used should have been enough to escape even an unparalleled Immortal Sovereign.
Yet now, Su Yi had sealed the space around them with a single palm strike. This was entirely unexpected!
“I forgot to tell you, but I’m already invincible beneath the god level.”
As Su Yi’s calm, understated voice echoed through the air, the three Demon Sovereigns shattered, inch by inch, their souls reduced to powder.
Crushed like ants.
With that, all ten of the Demon Sovereigns leading the charge on the Seventh Gate of Heaven had perished!
Of the army of one hundred thousand demons, thirty thousand had already perished. The remaining demons were scared out of their wits. Their ranks broke, and all of them fled with all their might.
From beginning to end, Su Yi never even needed his full strength, because to him, these opponents... were just too weak!
......
Su Yi and the defenders of the Seventh Gate of Heaven sat on the walls, dining and drinking.
Su Yi had averted a catastrophe with domineering force, and all of the defenders had relaxed.
But when they spoke of all of the experts who’d fled in terror before the battle even began, Pei Hongjing’s heart filled with indignation.
“I had no idea that the experts stationed here were just a pack of motley riffraff! What cowards, to flee before the battle even began!” Pei Hongjing let out a deep sigh.
All Su Yi had to say is, “It will get better.”
The crowd nodded. With Su Yi here, the Immortal Realm was sure to see a return to its former glory. No, it would far surpass it!
“Sovereign Venerate, those Demon Sovereigns said that they wanted to destroy your reputation and make you the common enemy of everyone in the Immortal Realm. What do you think of that?” Madam Xiangyun couldn’t help but ask.
The current situation was already incomparably dire. The demons of the Beyond had broken past the First, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Gates of Heaven.
If the demons ransacked the Immortal Realm as they pleased, all the while announcing that Su Yi was responsible for this disaster, the masses really would loathe and resent him!
Especially since double agents were helping the demons stir up waves within the Immortal Realm. With them fanning the flames, who knew how many people would insult and curse Su Yi behind his back?
“There’s no need for concern,” said Su Yi. “Once I’ve eradicated that demon scum, the problem will resolve itself.”
The crowd nodded. It was true. So long as Sovereign Venerate Su won, all those rumors and insults would vanish!
But could he win?
When the crowd recalled what the Demon Sovereigns had said, their hearts were heavy.
The shadow of the gods was behind the demons’ all-out invasion! Even divine emissaries were involved.
“Sovereign Venerate, four of the Nine Gates of Heaven have fallen, and their armies have invaded the Immortal Realm. They’re spread throughout our territories in numbers too great to estimate,” Pei Hongjing said with deep concern. “And I’m afraid the other garrisons won’t hold much longer either. When they fall, an endless swarm of demons will swarm into the Immortal Realm and bring disaster to the populace. Removing them all won’t be easy.”
Su Yi was just one person. Even if he rallied the Immortal Realm and waged war against the demons, he wouldn’t be able to quell the unrest any time soon!
Besides, the armies of the Beyond had divine emissaries overseeing things. How many of the Immortal Realm’s Great Realm experts would dare to fight the servants of the gods?
They were hopelessly outnumbered!
The thorniest problem of all was that there were nine Gates of Heaven, and they were spread across the Immortal Realm’s borders. Su Yi was just one person. He could at most defend one at a time!
With him here, the Seventh Gate of Heaven was as safe as could be, but if he left, their enemies would take advantage of his absence and break through. The Seventh Gate of Heaven was sure to fall!
When the crowd looked at him, Su Yi just laughed. “What they can do, I can do too. I cannot defend all of the Immortal Realm’s Nine Gates of Heaven by myself, nor can I eliminate their armies, but... I can take a trip into their territories. They want to invade the Immortal Realm? Fine. I’ll just have to stamp out their nest! In doing so, I’ll remove this threat once and for all!”
When they heard that, the crowd was overcome with astonishment.
