Chapter 1004: Plunder

Thrudd flew towards Asgard at a record speed. She had to make up for lost time no matter what.

Of course her brother had gone to Asgard. It was the only logical place she could think of.

Apparently, a few of her siblings had reached the same conclusion as her as well.

But apparently, it didn’t matter much.

In the space between each of the heavenly realms, the tree of Yggdrasil, which had stood tall since time immemorial, was already burning.

- Asgard...

The scene was unspeakably horrific.

With no warning, the sky overhead had turned deep black, with no stars or clouds to quell the spirit.

Panicked screams and cries of agony came from every hut and hovel on Asgard’s soil.

Balls of infernal fire fell from the sky.

They crashed to the ground- not burning the land, but fully obliterating it and leaving a series of dark voids similar to the one Abaddon had left behind in an entirely different lifetime.

Among the wreckage, the nevi’im stationed here were split down the middle about what to do.

They could feel their lord’s power emanating from this display of destruction.

And yet, no one had told them anything.

Were they supposed to take part in the destruction?

Or were they supposed to sit and do nothing?

Had Asgard committed some kind of great sin that warranted this type of destruction?

They weren’t sure what the right thing to do was.

After an agonizingly long period, a new scene arose.

Dark grey clouds rolled in over the sky, covering every stretch of Asgardian land for miles upon miles.

The clouds coursed with currents of foreign energy, and the distant, yet booming sound of thunder roared in the ears for everyone to hear.

From the clouds, all of heaven seemed to open up as a virtual monsoon fell over the Asgardian lands.

The water doused the flames of destruction and stopped the spread of catastrophe through this realm.

A single ray of light shone down from the sky.

Bounding across it majestically was a single doe, with fur as pure as freshly fallen snow.

It descended onto the land, running at breakneck speed and restoring all that had turned to ash.

Odin lay on the steps to Asgard, with his wife Frigg attending to him as he groaned in pain.

As the water drenched his back, he turned his head towards the sky and revealed that his only remaining eye was now missing as well.

"Odin?"

The once glorious all-father turned his face towards the voice he closely recognized and made a difficult expression.

"Have you come to finish what your brother started..?"

Thrudd felt her chest tighten as the rain soaked her hair. "...You have my sympathies, Odin. My brother... he isn’t well right now. I promise we will put everything back the way it was before."

Further evidence of this came when a colossal hundred-headed dragon descended from the sky.

With a roar, he began recreating all that was lost in the fire.

But Odin couldn’t see what was happening, and as a result, his mood hadn’t seen much improvement.

Thrudd placed two fingers in her mouth and whistled.

The glowing doe came rushing towards them from somewhere within the realm.

It slowed to a slow trot and wandered up to Odin, who lay on the steps to Valhalla pathetically.

It sniffed his face for just a moment before giving the side of his face a small lick.

A burning sensation occurred within Odin’s eye socket.

He clutched his face and suppressed a groan as his entire eye regrew itself in just a few moments.

His chest rose and fell heavily as he attempted to stabilize his pained breathing.

With his sight renewed, he looked up at Thrudd, and now Nubia with a look of disdain.

"On behalf of my family, we deeply apologize to you for my brother’s actions. You will be sufficiently compensated if you wish." Nubia bowed.

To his knowledge, Odin was unaware if Tehom had ever paid restitution to a pantheon before.

For a humiliation such as this, he would take as much from them as they could give.

But there was just one thing he remained unaware of.

"I don’t believe you have the authority to make such a promise. I demand an audience with your father."

A look of reluctance passed between the sisters.

"That... will be difficult to arrange right now. But you have my word that the second he is back we’ll drag him right to your doorstep if we have to."

Odin scoffed. He knew that had to have been right about Abaddon being indisposed.

"Loki’s prison. We need you to take us there." Thrudd suddenly said.

At the mention of the talented escape artist, Odin felt a wave of irritation surge within his stomach.

"No need. You won’t find anything there but this." Odin reached inside of his jacket and pulled out a notecard.

When Thrudd and Nubia read it, their expressions were a mix of anger and disbelief.

"How did he get out!?" Thrudd crushed the note in her grip.

"As if I know!" Odin yelled back. "Before I could question that wife of his, your brother ripped her soul out of her body and ran off!"

For Thrudd, a tidbit like that barely registered with her. But Nubia was quite shaken up by it.

For gods, there is very little more painful than having your soul forcibly ripped from your body.

It’s not only cruel, but it is also invasive. Since with a god’s soul, you can look through their entire life if you know how. There’s very little, if anything, that they can hide from you.

Nubia couldn’t believe that her brother was that far gone. Thrudd had no trouble seeing him do something like that at all.

"....I’m sorry to ask, but do you have any idea where he could possibly be going?" questioned Thrudd.

Odin gave her an impatient look. "No, I don’t. I was a bit too preoccupied bleeding out on the floor to notice."

Thrudd sighed in exhaustion and immediately turned away.

While she left, Nubia stayed behind to help Odin and his wife.

Without saying anything, she went to Frigg’s side and took her trembling hand.

She helped the goddess sit down and infused a calming energy into her body to help her catch her breath.

"...You must’ve been frightened. I’m sorry, Frigg."

The goddess set her lips in a polite smile. "I’m fine, Nubia. Though your kindness is always much appreciated."

Nubia knew that she was lying. It was the reason why she had yet to leave her side even after her heart was no longer beating out of her chest.

"Princess."

Nubia glanced over her shoulder at the army of dragons who had appeared without so much as a flap of their wings.

"Where do you need us?"

Nubia barely needed to think about it before pointing into the distance.

"Go into the towns and make sure that there were no casualties. Heal everyone who needs it and make sure there aren’t any more holes in the realm-"

At that moment, there was a flash of light in the sky and a ball of golden fire fell from the clouds.

"Maker’s beard, what now!?" Odin cried.

The ball of fire crash-landed a short distance away from them.

Even before the dust cleared, everyone was wearing a similar expression to Nubia. The cause of this was the shrill, child-like voice that they could hear over the rain.

"Stinky dragon, control your brother! Every time one of you nasty boys shows up, you start hurting me! I’m sick of it! You’re all banned, you hear me!? BANNED! Do you think this is funny!? I’m not taking no shit! Start putting respect on my name!"

When the dust finally settled, everyone could see the first prince of abyss dragons lying face down in the soil while a prepubescent girl jumped on top of his head like a trampoline.

She was a small thing, with blonde hair that fell all the way down to her ankles. Her garb was that of a simple white dress with sleeves big enough to swallow her frail arms.

One eye was a bright, jade green, while the other was rainbow colored, similar to Ayaana’s.

"I said we were sorry already!’ Apophis yelled. "Our brother is going through a-"

"I don’t careee!" The child continued stomping.

A couple of feet away, Gabbrielle made eye contact with Nubia and gave her a helpless look.

Sighing, Nubia gave Frigg a promise that she would be back and inched over to the crater.

"Yggy~" She called.

The young girl paused after getting one last stomp in and looked around.

When she laid eyes on Nubia’s form, her pupils began producing an unfunny amount of water.

"WAAAAHHH, NUBIAAA!!"

With one final kick to the back of Apophis’ head, the child bolted from his back and lunged into Nubia’s arms.

"All the men in your family suck! They’re downright twat-waffles! I hate them! Keep them away from me!"

The child rolled up her sleeve and showed Nubia a black mark on her arm.

"Look what your brother did to me! That meanie! Bitchboy! Dickface! It still burns!"

Nubia’s chest tightened in pain.

She gingerly took the child’s small arm between her fingers and applied a small kiss on the burned area.

A pure, green energy passed between the two, and the child’s mark was healed in seconds.

She let out a small sigh of relief and calmed down considerably.

Nubia finally pulled her lips away after a few moments. "I’m sorry... while I cannot excuse my brother’s actions, things at home haven’t reallly been going the best..."

Seeing her friend so distraught, the child was instantly concerned for her well-being.

"R-Really..? What’s going on..?"

Nubia looked around and made sure that no one was close enough to read her lips.

She leaned in and whispered something into the young girl’s ear that made her eyes go wide. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

She threw her head back dramatically and wailed as loud as he lungs would allow.

"OH, GODS, WHYYYYY!!??! ERI-POOH, I MISS YOUUUU!!!!!"
