Chapter 660: Fallen Jinn

The Next Morning

Nine people gathered beneath a large tree, packing the last of their belongings.

"Let the vote begin," Alistair said, raising his voice.

"Those in favor of attacking the Fallen Jinn today—raise your hands."

Six hands went up, including Rowan’s. The only ones who abstained were Charles, Nyx, and Alistair.

"Interesting," Alistair remarked, eyeing Nyx.

"You’re against attacking today?"

"If we rush in, we’ll end up like last time," Nyx said flatly.

"I want you, me, and Charles to face the Fallen Jinn alone first. Let’s try using the ’item’ you got from the Nightwind Patriarch. Once we have enough intel, we retreat. Then we plan—clean, precise, no heavy losses."

"What do you think, Charles?" Alistair asked, turning toward him.

Charles considered the idea, then said,

"Why not both? We scout first, and then the others join in. Magical beasts can adapt too. The longer we study it, the more it learns about us."

Alistair nodded in agreement.

"Fair point. Let’s go with that."

With the plan in place, the group prepared for the day and set off.

As they walked, Charles noticed the surroundings slowly change. Vegetation thickened, and before long, a vast lake-like oasis came into view—ringed by towering trees and wild growth.

"From here on, only the three of us move forward," Alistair instructed.

"Last time, the Jinn attacked the moment we neared the oasis. Three of ours died in a single ice strike."

Charles, Alistair, and Nyx broke off from the group and advanced.

A cold wind drifted from the direction of the oasis. Charles felt it bite through his robe. The dry soil grew damp. Enormous ice shards—five to ten meters long—were scattered across the land, slowly melting.

More unsettling was the sensation of a hidden gaze watching from the north.

’The guardian... but I don’t sense any presence from the oasis itself.’

Alistair and Nyx also seemed to pick up on the battle traces around the perimeter. They exchanged glances.

"Someone beat us here. This battle happened four or five days ago," Alistair muttered—but in Lark Language.

’They don’t want me to understand... too bad I already learned Lark.’

"I thought we were the only ones who skipped exploring the lower layers and headed straight to the Fourth," Nyx said.

"Not the Amber Church. They’re still in the Third. I spoke to their Cardinal just this morning," Alistair replied, then his eyes widened.

"I know who it is. The Holmes Family."

"Holmes? I thought they were like us—strong, but not reckless," Nyx said, frowning.

"Don’t forget, they’re still in contact with their ancestor family from another plane. I suspect they got outside help," Alistair replied, then asked,

"Didn’t the Nightwind family have some ties with the Holmes?"

"In the past, yes. Not anymore. After Eddie’s daughter died, the Holmes Family went underground to avoid retaliation. They only reemerged after Eddie disappeared. From then on, the Nightwind family severed all ties."

"Eddie, huh... If he were alive, the Nightwinds might be among the top powers today. But they’re fading. Even with a genius like Harry, those old fools didn’t know how to nurture him." Alistair scoffed and pulled an amulet from his ring.

"Don’t forget—it was your brother who ordered Harry’s assassination," Nyx said coldly.

"And that boy brought it on himself. He colluded with the Wisdom Church and tried to tamper with our ’Pure Bloodlines.’ If the world learns our secrets, chaos will follow."

He sighed and added,

"The Nightwinds are always trouble. I heard rumors about Harry’s son a few years back—stirred up the Arc Kingdom, even clashed with the Amber Church. But I read he offended someone powerful and died. Ember Royals printed it."

They arrived at the edge of the oasis.

"What now? Wait and watch—?"

Before Alistair could finish, a large hexagonal magic pattern lit up in the center of the oasis, glowing with a bluish hue.

Charles reacted first, casting [Circle of Invulnerability] and forming a flaming barrier around himself.

"Get ready! The guardian made changes... it’s resurrecting the Jinn early!"

As the light faded, a towering blue-skinned figure emerged, standing knee-deep in water.

The Fallen Jinn stood nearly three meters tall, its eerie single eye on its forehead opening slowly. Its other two eyes were black and pupil-less. Long ears, a sharp nose, and a purple pant-like garment gave it an almost noble appearance—twisted by malice.

A blue icon flashed in front of Charles.

"Now, Alistair!" Nyx barked, pulling an ancient book from his space ring and chanting an incantation.

A moment later, a translucent barrier shimmered into existence in front of them.

Alistair gripped the amulet tightly and activated its power. A powerful wave of wisdom energy surged out, latching onto the towering Jinn and attempting to analyze it.

The Fallen Jinn’s third eye glowed ominously. It turned its head, slowly locking its gaze onto them.

Chapter 673: Fallen Jinn

In a blink, a strange, powerful ice elemental energy burst from the Fallen Jinn and spread in all directions, freezing water, trees, and plants in an instant.

Even more unnerving—it bypassed the [Circle of Invulnerability] defensive spell. Nyx’s barriers also failed to hold.

"Alistair! Did you find out anything?" Nyx called out, rapidly layering new defensive spells to stop the freezing energy from seeping into their bodies.

"I see it now," Alistair replied, eyes glowing with insight. "It has a domain spell linked to ice, an illusion spell, a strange cube that traps whoever touches it, a blizzard rain mixed with poison, an ice-storm spell, and an absolute zero domain spell—one that can even freeze our thoughts."

"So it’s definitely ice-type... Who would expect a desert domain’s boss to be a full-blown Ice Jinn?" Nyx muttered, his expression turning grim.

Seeing the worsening situation, Charles made an offer.

"I can freeze its thoughts for a moment. Use that window to hit it with a curse-type spell."

"A mind control spell?" Alistair glanced over, nodding slightly.

"Nyx, use that forbidden curse spell," he added.

"But I need to touch the Fallen Jinn to cast it!" Nyx snapped, glaring.

After a short pause, he gritted his teeth. "Damn it... You’d better give me 20% of the loot when we’re done here."

Without waiting for an answer, he waved his hand, stepped beyond the defensive shields, and faced the rushing tide of ice elemental energy head-on.

Just then, Charles glanced to Nyx’s left and sent a telepathic message.

We’re already trapped in its illusion. Right now, it’s twenty feet to your left.

Though Nyx didn’t fully trust the young man from another world, he didn’t hesitate.

Charles cast [Burning Thoughts], wiping the Jinn’s current thought clean. Seizing the moment, Nyx activated a movement skill and blurred forward.

In under a second, he closed the distance.

By the time the Jinn shook off its confusion, Nyx was already there. He pulled a wooden staff from his space ring and thrust it toward the Jinn’s chest.

Darkness and mind energy surged from the staff and pierced the Jinn’s body.

"Fractured Mind," Nyx said coldly, then retreated.

The effect was immediate. The Jinn’s previously composed expression twisted in agony. Its icy aura faltered, the spreading frost receded. Elemental energy that moments ago threatened to consume everything now flickered and faded.

Whenever it tried to channel a bloodline spell, its attacks veered off-target, disoriented and misdirected.

Nyx’s curse had fractured the Jinn’s control. The once overwhelming ice storm dwindled to feeble sparks. Shattered frost lay across the battlefield as the creature stumbled, its form flickering between illusions. A confused wail burst from its crystalline throat.

Alistair took the chance.

He activated [Galeforce Rush], summoning a violent gust that propelled him forward, trailing wind and momentum.

In an instant, he appeared before the towering Jinn, sword raised, its edge gleaming with a greenish-purple aura.

He’s nearly reached Grandmaster swordsmanship.

Wind and thunder converged into a sharp arc and slammed into the Jinn’s chest, leaving a deep gash.

"Back away! It’s prepping a storm skill!" Charles warned sharply.

Alistair didn’t argue. He flipped backward and retreated.

"Nyx, signal the others. If they don’t join now, we’ll be cornered soon."

Even as he spoke, the surrounding wind turned violent, spiraling into a vortex that wrapped itself around the Jinn like a living tornado.

"Back! The wind’s unstable!" Alistair sensed the danger, grabbed Nyx, and pulled him back.

The tornado swelled, reaching for the clouds. Massive ice knives erupted in every direction—each the size of a person—cutting through everything in their path.

The rest of the True Lords finally arrived.

"Everyone, target the tornado’s center! Give it everything you’ve got!" Alistair shouted.

He cast a swirling wind barrier around each ally, then another spell: [Lightning Surge].

Crackling arcs surged around him. Speed and reflexes were heightened.

In a blink, he vanished from view and reappeared near the storm.

Legend Rank spells rained down from every angle, bombarding the tornado and the Jinn inside.

But the Jinn remained evasive, its tornado shielding it from direct hits. It raised an icy arm and caught Alistair’s sword mid-strike.

The clash sent shockwaves across the Oasis.

As the battle intensified, Alistair cast wind spells from within, gradually unraveling the tornado from the inside out.

But just when it seemed they were gaining ground, the Jinn captured two members, encasing them in hexagonal ice cubes.

It retaliated with another icy burst, forcing Alistair to retreat.

"I can’t kill it alone!" he landed beside Charles, panting.

"What a terrifying magical beast," Charles muttered.

Then came Rowan’s shout. "F*ck! I can’t break this cube! If we don’t stop it, we’re done!"

His archery skill—a rank-6 shot—left only a scratch.

Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind.

Rowan, dodge left in five seconds. We’re back in its illusion.

"Damn it—it broke free from Lord Nyx’s curse?" Rowan muttered. Sensing a ripple in the air, he leapt into the sky.

Midair, he drew an arrow, infused it with wind and space elemental energy, and fired.

The arrow vanished into the void—and reappeared right in front of the Jinn’s chest.

A beastly shriek tore through the frozen air as the arrow pierced through its body.
